BANGALORE: Art of Living Foundation founder Sri Sri Ravishankar has expressed his readiness to meet LTTE supremo Velupillai Prabhakaran to facilitate the peace process to end the decades-long ethnic crisis in Sri Lanka.

The spiritual leader's offer came after he received thousands of letters from the crowd during a public event at Jaffna in the island nation, expressing their full confidence in him to facilitate the peace process and restore peace in Sri Lanka, according to a release from the foundation here on Saturday.

Ravishankar, who is currently on a four-day visit to Sri Lanka as a guest of the Sri Lankan government, however, didn’t reveal any further details. ''I have come here to take away all your worries and problems. I want to see a smile that never fades on your face.''

Arriving to a rousing welcome on Wednesday, he delivered the keynote address at an International Inter-Faith Conference to Combat AIDS in Colombo on Thursday. Many ministers, members of parliament, Buddhist monks and other religious leaders, academicians, political advisors to the government, intellectuals and several prominent citizens attended an interactive session with him, the release said.

Ravishankar met leader of the opposition Ranil Wickremasinghe at the latter's residence and was expected to meet President Mahinda Rajapakshe before leaving for India tomorrow. He inaugurated a children's home, constructed for tsunami orphans in Wellawaya by the foundation and a pre-school in Jaffna.

Meanwhile, the art of living centre in jaffna received a few threat calls on Friday, demanding cancellation of the 'satsang' programme as a LTTE leader was shot dead in Trincomalee just few hours ago. The organisers were told that they have to take full responsibility if any untoward incident happened during the programme.

However, Ravishankar went ahead with the satsang, where he led thousands into a deep meditation, the release said.
