கூகிள் நிறுவனத்தின் அருமையான சேவைகளையும் scholar.google.com, maps.google.com), மென்பொருள்களையும் (Picasa, Blogger) நீங்கள் உபயோகித்திருப்பீர்கள். இவற்றில் ஒன்று தான் Google Earth (earth.google.com). செய்மதிகளிலிருந்து எடுத்த உலகின் பல்வேறு பாகங்களினதும் படங்களை ஒன்று சேர்த்துக் காட்டும் மென்பொருள். இலங்கையின் படங்களும் உள்ளன. அதில் எல்லா இடங்களுக்கும் சிங்களப் பெயர்களே குறிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன!

கூகிளுக்கு நான் கீழே இணைக்கப்பட்டிருக்கும் வேண்டுகோளை அனுப்பி வைத்துள்ளேன்

I noticed that the place-names of many towns in the Tamil areas are given in the Sinhala language, even though these towns have long-standling English names as well as Tamil names which are used by the majority of the residents of those towns. Even the Sri Lankan government uses the commonly used English names in their maps. See

Here are the changes I would recommend in this regard:

Yaapanaya -> Jaffna
Peduru Tuduwa -> Point Pedro
Tirikunamalaya -> Trincomalee
Galmune -> Kalmunai
Madakalapuwa -> Batticaloa
Vavuniyawa -> Vavuniya
Mannarama -> Mannar

P.S.
Given that the corrected names I suggest above are used pretty much everywhere, I wonder how the infrequent Sinhala placenames found their way onto Google's maps.
It smells suspiciously like a politically motivated insider has deliberately used Sinhala names for Tamil towns.
