சர்வதேச போர் விதவைகள் மாநாடு

 

பிரித்தானியாவை தளமாகக் கொண்டு இயங்கும் சமூக அபிவிருத்தி நிறுவனத்தினால் நடாத்தப்படும் சர்வதேச போர் விதவைகள் மாநாடும் செயலமர்வும் 21.07.2013 அன்று Khalili Lecture Theatre,School of Oriental and African Studies, Thornhaugh Street,  Russell Square, London WC1H 0XGஎனும் முகவரியில் நடைபெறவுள்ளது.

 

இம்மாநாடானது இலங்கையில் போரால் பாதிப்புற்ற போர் விதவைகளின் வாழ்க்கைத்தரத்தையும் வாழ்வாதாரத்தையும் மேம்படுத்தும் நோக்குடன் நடைபெறும் இம்மாநாட்டில் ஆசிய ,ஆபிரிக்க , மத்தியகிழக்கு நாடுகள் சார்ந்த பெண்கள் அமைப்பு சார்ந்தவர்களும் தமிழ் அமைப்புக்கள் சார்ந்தவர்களும் பங்கேற்கவுள்ளனர்.

 

போர்விதவைகளுக்காகவும் போர் விதவைகளுடனும் பணியாற்றும் தன்னார்வ தொண்டு நிறுவனங்கள் சார்ந்தவர்களையும் பெண்ணுரிமை சார்ந்து இயங்குவோரையும் ஒருங்கிணைத்து நடைபெறும் இம்மாநாடானது நிறுவனங்களுக்கிடையான தொடர்பாடலை வலுப்படுத்தவும் ஒன்றிணைந்து பணியாற்றக் கூடிய களச்சூழலை உருவாக்கவும் பொருத்தமான தளமாக அமைகிறது.

 

சமூக ஆர்வலர்கள் , ஊடகவியலாளர்கள் , மாணவர்கள் , பெண்கள் அமைப்புகள் , பொதுமக்கள் அனைவரையும் அன்புடன் அழைக்கின்றோம்.

International Conference and Workshop on Widows:

Challenges and Prospects in Uplifting War Widows in Sri Lanka

 

An international conference and workshop titled “Challenges and Prospects in Uplifting War Widows in Sri Lanka” will be held at the Khalili Lecture Theatre,School of Oriental and African Studies, Thornhaugh Street,  Russell Square, London WC1H 0XG on Sunday 21 July 2013. The Conference is organized by the Centre for Community Development (CCD), a registered charity involved in community development through access to knowledge, information and a range of programmes and projects in Sri Lanka and UK.

This conference is an opportunity to share the experiences of  activists assisting women affected by the war in Sri Lanka’s north-east women with others involved in similar activities in African, Middle-Eastern and Asian countries that have faced or are facing war and its consequences. The conference will also be a forum for women to express concerns and plan future actions in the light of knowledge and experiences of others.

Invitations have been extended to several international agencies. International agencies and the donor community need to understand, appreciate and respond to problems of widows, their needs and their journey towards empowerment. This forum will also offer the prospect of  solidarity among the organizations working for the rights of widows to ensure that their voices are heard.The conference may also be an opportunity to call for the full and effective implementation of the Beijing Declaration and the Platform of Action (BPfA) and UNSCR 1325 and 1820.

The proceedings will be in English and Tamil with interpretations of the presentations in Tamil/English, as is necessary.

The conference is suitable for organizations working for widow’s empowerment, individual researchers, professionals, journalists, activists, youths and students.

 

Registration and closing date

Those who wish to participate in the conference are requested to complete the Registration Form and return it to the Conference Coordinator, Centre for Community Development, Thulasi, Bridge End Close, Kingston upon Thames KT2 6PZ, before 15 July 2013.

The Agenda will be provided after  registration.
