இலங்கைத்தீவிலேயே முதன் முதல் தமிழரை அழித்தது முஸ்லிம்கள் தான், சிங்களவர் அல்ல. அது நடந்தது இந்த வீரமுனையில் தான்; 1954ம் ஆண்டு நடந்தது. இது தொடர்பில் தமிழர்களால் "தீயுண்ட வீரமுனை" என்ற நூல் 1956 ம் ஆண்டு வெளியிடப்பட்டது. அன்று தொடக்கம் முஸ்லிம்களுக்கு வீரமுனை மீது கண்தான். பல தாக்குதல்கள் 1990 முன்னர் நிகழ்ந்தன. இது தெரியாத வட தமிழீழ தமிழர்கள் தென் தமிழீழத்தில் தமிழர் தான் முதன் முதலில் முஸ்லிமை தாக்கினர் என்று சொந்த இனம் மீது தமது பிரதேசவாத கண்ணால் பார்த்து பழி சுமத்தும் நிலை, குறிப்பாக புலம்பெயர்ந்தவர்களால், வன்மையாக கண்டிக்கத்தக்கது.
