The rupee closed at 181.50/60 to the greenback on Tuesday. Liquidity in the overnight money market was 17.25 billion rupees, down from 31.99 billion rupees at Tuesday. The United Nations may become involved in the case of the Tamil asylum seekers who were detained on an Australian customs boat, with a court hearing to take place in Canberra in October.
