துணுக்காயில் வான்குண்டுத் தாக்குதல்: மாணவி படுகாயம்

முல்லைத்தீவு மாவட்டத்தில் உள்ள துணுக்காயில் சிறிலங்கா வான்படையினர் நடத்திய குண்டுத்தாக்குதலில் மாணவி ஒருவர் படுகாயமடைந்துள்ளார்.

துணுக்காய் பிரதேசத்தில் உள்ள கல்விளான் ஒட்டங்குளம் பகுதியில் இன்று சனிக்கிழமை காலை சிறிலங்கா வான்படையின் கிபிர் ரக வானூர்திகள் குண்டுத்தாக்குதலை நடத்தின.

இத்தாக்குதலில் முதலாம் யூனிட் யோகபுரத்தைச் சேர்ந்த உயர்தரத்தில் கல்வி கற்றுவரும் மாணவியான முருகேசு இந்திரவதனா (வயது 20) என்பவர் இடது காலில் படுகாயமடைந்த நிலையில் மல்லாவி மருத்துவமனையில் அவசர சிகிச்சைப் பிரிவில் அனுமதிக்கப்பட்டார்.

தாக்குதலில் வீடுகள், பயன்தரு மரங்கள் சேதமடைந்துள்ளதுடன் கால்நடைகளும் பாதிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன.

வான்குண்டுத் தாக்குதலைத் தொடந்து, எறிகணைத் தாக்குதலை சிறிலங்காப் படையினர் நடத்தி வருகின்றனர்.

25 LTTE men killed in northern Sri Lanka

COLOMBO: At least 25 tiger rebels were killed in intense clashes in Sri Lanka's restive north where air force jets targeted a LTTE bunker line, officials said on Saturday.

"Sri Lankan air force fighter jets launched precision air sorties at an identified LTTE bunker line near south of Thunukkai in Mullaittivu, at around 7am (local time)," the defence ministry said.

Four LTTE cadres were killed when army elite troops raided an enemy bunker located three km east of Vidattaltivu in Mannar on Friday, the ministry said.

Two security forces personnel also sustained injuries in this attack, it said.

Separately, troops killed five tiger rebels and injured six others in a confrontation at North of Janakapura in North-east Welioya on Friday, it said, adding that an anti-personnel mine explosion wounded a soldier on duty in the same area.

In another incident, security forces gunned down two LTTE cadres in Kiribbanwewa north in Welioya, the Media Centre for National Security (MCNS) said.

According to the defence ministry spokesperson few heavy machinery, including a bulldozer, was destroyed in the air raid as heavy construction work was going on in the site at the time of attack.

The troops recovered 267 anti-personnel mines and Improvised Explosive Devices (IED's) during a search operations conducted at Janakapura on Friday, the military said.
