The Tamil election held in Canada was successful. However many excuses

and complaints were raised within the community during and after the

Election Day.

If we are all in the same page in thinking that:

- This election is much need for Tamils worldwide.

- We all put the goal of Tamil’s aspiration in front rather self aspirations.

How can this be improved?

Share your thoughts with the Coalition for Tamil Elections. I think

this is the right thing to do rather than creating unfounded excuses

to justify the failure of individuals in exercising their democratic

responsibility. For various reasons if you found it difficult to vote,

at least raise your concerns constructively and try to correct it

rather than holding round table discussions.

It is also important to share your views and

comments with Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam’s interim

committee. I hear from Today’s globe and mail article that there will

be another election in May or April timeframe.

Logan Logendralingam, editor and publisher of Uthayan, a Tamil weekly, said his newspaper was removed from three shops in the GTA and replaced with pamphlets about the referendum because he did not include heavy coverage of the event.

Logendralingam, who does favour Sri Lankan Tamils being granted an independent state, feels he was targeted because he also reports on news from the Sinhalese-dominated Sri Lankan government. His paper is distributed in about 220 locations; he plans to contact police if more papers are taken.

"This type of activity is not going to help us. It will create more divisions in the community. Our community has to be united, because Tamils in Sri Lanka have been destroyed," he said.
