Dear Sir/Madam,

Re: News bulletin broadcasted and telecasted under the headline of ‘involvement of the LTTE in credit card cloning’

Tamils living all over the world are disappointed about the quality of the subject mater as it was prepared with out any base, due care, caution and evidence to the source of this information. It is obvious that it’s a mud-slinging exercise carefully manipulated by the Sri Lankan government in order to discredit LTTE in the eyes of the international community. It is regret that the champions of the freedom of speech, freedom of expression and unbiased reporting agency have been out manoeuvred by the cunning diplomacy of the agent of Sri Lanka.

Over the past years the BBC has earned prestigious reputation for its unbiased stand in the controversial issues. It is regret that such yardstick has not been used to measure the depth of the truth in this particular matter.

We wonder whether the BBC also joined the bandwagon of the sinister propaganda program of the Sri Lankan government because in the resent times, when the human rights violations rocketed to alarming level in north and east of Silence, the BBC never made any attempt to bring those activities to the surface. The resent UNHCR, Amnesty International and other human Rights Agencies concerns about Sri Lankan atrocities has not been given any prominent coverage by the BBC. Nevertheless a trivial and isolated incident of this nature has been blown up for the viewers to form an opinion against Sri Lankan Tamils.

We kindly request the BBC to put its integrity and honesty to an accepted level of scrutiny because it was against the principal of natural justice. Since the Sri Lankan High Commission Official was given a right of audience the other side was denied the opportunity of been heard.

We trust the BBC will endeavour to address the issues raised herein and will take steps to relive the distress caused to the millions of Tamils in this aspect.

Yours faithfully

Rajan
