Prostitution triggers woman’s murder

KUWAIT CITY

Criminal Investigation Department personnel in the Capital Governorate have arrested three Asians suspected of killing a Sri Lankan woman, whose decomposed body was found dumped in the sea behind the Maternity Hospital in Al Sabah two days ago.

According to Arab Times, one of the suspects is a driver who transports nurses to Al Sabah Hospital, the other works at Amghara scrapyard and the third – a Sri Lankan woman – had absconded from her sponsor. She was registered as missing at the Immigration Department.

Assistant Undersecretary for Public Security Affairs, Brigadier General Ghazi Al Omar, had instructed security authorities to track down the murderers. Governorate manager, Lt.-Col. Bader Al Ghadouri formed a team to conduct investigate the case.

Forensic experts said the body belonged to a Sri Lankan woman, identified as Fatema Radhwan, born in 1978. Investigators discovered a telephone line registered under her name.

Upon checking the calls the woman made in the last few days, the police found the number of an Indian labourer in Amghara scrapyard.

During interrogation, the labourer admitted that he knew the killer and guided the police to another Indian residing in Jleeb Al Shuyoukh. The police arrested the second suspect and a Sri Lankan woman. Sources said the victim lived with the three suspects in the same flat and was engaged in prostitution. Disagreements over the income from the ‘flesh’ trade had allegedly triggered the killing.

The victim threatened to inform the authorities about the illegal business if the three suspects did not give her share.

One night, when the victim was asleep, the suspects stabbed her to death, wrapped her body in a blanket and dumped her into the sea.

The suspects tied a rock to the victim’s body to keep it submerged in the sea but an environment protection group found the body. The police also found the knife used in the crime.

Sri Lankan woman’s 3 Asian killers re-enact crime

KUWAIT CITY : Three Asians — two men and a woman — who are suspected of murdering a Sri Lankan woman, employee of the Al-Sabah Maternity Hospital are said to have reenacted the crime in front of the Public Prosecutor and personnel from the Criminal Investigation Department amid tight security, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

The accused reportedly committed the crime last Thursday inside the outhouse of a Kuwaiti villa where the accused and the victim were living. According to a security source the victim was murdered due to some disagreement between them.

Re-enacting the crime the suspects showed how they increased the volume of music to prevent the neighbors from hearing the victim’s cries for help. One man reported pinned the woman to the ground, the woman held her legs and the man accused stabbed her several times until she breathed no more.

The source explained the three suspects then tied the victim’s hands and feet, wrapped her in a bed cover and threw her remains in the sea. The body was found floating in the sea behind the Al-Sabah Maternity Hospital by an unidentified person who alerted the police.

The source added the suspects, who have been referred to the Public Prosecution, reenacted the crime using a dummy.
