Watch Mithivedi on the net

For the first time ever in the history of Tamil cinema, a film has been released on the net. Mithivedi, which deals with the landmines issue in Sri Lanka, was released on the net on February 17th. According to a press note, movie buffs in US, Canada, Europe, Middle East and Australia can watch the film on the website www.mithivedi.com.au on the pay per view rental basis.

Daniel Balaji, who has acted in a number of Tamil films and television serials and known for his performance in Kaakha Kaakha as one of Suriya’s friends, has played the menacing Sri Lankan Army Lieutenant and Neelima has played an Eelam Tamil woman trying to save her baby after being stuck on a minefield.

Director Anand Maiyur Srinivas has said, “The global response for our film trailer on YouTube encouraged me to explore a new area of distribution - Online Distribution. So, we tied up with FlickRocket, a German based Online Content Solution Provider, and used this new distribution platform for digital cinema – direct online distribution. Viewers can download and watch the film on a custom made DRM protected FluxPlayer as a pay per day rental. This, I believe, is the future of digital film distribution and so we decided to go global directly to the homes of our target audiences overseas.”
