EU did not condemn its own fault and has close Singhalese relations to Sri Lanka, sitting in their parliament!

In the European Union’s last report regarding the situation in Sri Lanka, they did not make any concessions of their accessory leading to the increased violence in Sri Lanka. This has caused hundreds of killings, displaced more than 200.000 people from their homes, affected the water and food supply to more than 500 000 civilians in the Jaffna Peninsula, and has stopped all rebuild projects that were started after the Tsunami. It also took the British 58 years to admit that they are to blame for the conflict on Sri Lanka today, and that the rights of the minority group, the Sri Lankan Tamils have been violated.

In the report, the EU is praising the Sri Lankan government and their actions more than once, and have not criticised the Government anywhere. For example, the EU is positive about the Sri Lankan president’s wish to call an international commission to Sri Lanka in order to investigate the murders, kidnaps and disappearances, which happen on a daily basis in Sri Lanka. But why does the president want to investigate the murders of the 17 Tamil relief workers in a Singhalese dominated city, where no Tamils witnesses have a chance to take part in the case. The case will happen in a Singhalese way and language, which the Tamils don’t speak or understand. Is this fair?

Some conflicting points in the report -> the EU complain of the increased violence and the breakdown of the ceasefire agreement and are aware about all the military clashes in the north-east. But in point 7 the EU is reporting that the Sri Lankan forces, who are involved in the fight against rebellion and national safety, do whatever they can to take care of innocent civilian life. But have the EU forgotten that the Tamils also have the right to protect them selves, and also to avoid the losses of civilian life.

Another point is that the LTTE has been blamed for the attack on a bus in Kebetigollewa without any form of investigation but instead as a result of the media’s vision. Why does the Sri Lankan president not invite an international committee to investigate this case, so the truth can be cleared up? Is this because the truth would damage the Sri Lankan Governments image? LTTE has never targeted civilians in their fight for freedom, only political and economical. In the recent months the LTTE have used missiles for their defence against Sri Lankan military. These missiles have a very big range, and if they want they could attack cities behind the Singhalese border, and attack cities with Sri Lankan bases.

The EU has made a request to Prabhakaran and Karuna to go back to the Peace process, but the two parties who are implemented in the conflict are the LTTE and The Sri Lankan Government. Other groups should be disarmed according to the ceasefire agreement, and not sitting at the table and taking part in peace talks, which is what the EU says.

After we finished reading the report and by the decision to put LTTE in the list of terrorists, we can only conclude that the EU has not listened to experts in the conflict before making decisions and writing the report. The EU can never operate as a neutral part, as long as they have a Singhalese member in their parliament, the rejected candidate as the next Secretary-General for the FN, the “British” conservative politician Niranjan Deva-Aditya, who is not just a Singhalese, but also a close friend to the Sri Lankan Government.
