ஸ்ரீலங்கா வான்படையின் கிபிர் விமானத்தாக்குதலால் பாதிக்கப்பட்ட படகுத்துறை கடற்கரையோரகிராமத்திற்கு மன்னார் மறைமாவட்ட ஆயர் அருட்திரு இராயப்பு ஜோசப் அவர்கள் நேரில் சென்று பார்வையிட்டார்.

படகுத்துறை கிராமத்தில் விடுதலைப்புலிகளின் எந்த தளங்களும் இருந்ததற்கான தடயங்கள் அங்கு இல்லை என தெரிவித்த ஆயர் மீனவர்களின் குடிசைகளே தாக்குதல்களுக்கு உள்ளாகி அழிந்திருப்பதாக தெரிவித்தார்.

விமானப்படையின் கோரத்தாக்குதலில் 3பிள்ளைகள் கற்பிணிதாய் தந்தை என ஒரேகுடும்பத்தை சேர்ந்த ஐந்துபேர் குண்டுவீச்சினால் உடல்சிதறி பலியாகியிருப்பதாக ஆயர் மேலும் தெரிவித்தார்.

படகுத்துறை கிராமத்தில் 46குடும்பங்களைச்சேர்ந்த 231பேர் வாழ்ந்து வந்ததாக இலுப்படிகடவை கிராமசேவை உத்தியோகத்தர் சின்னத்துரை விஜேந்திரன் தெரிவித்தார். இவர்கள் 1995ம் ஆண்டு யாழ்ப்பாணம் நாவாந்துறை கிராமத்திலிருந்து இடம்பெயர்ந்து மன்னார் படகுத்துறை கிராமத்தில் வசித்து வந்தவர்கள் என அவர் மேலும் தெரிவித்தார்.

14குண்டுகள் விழுந்து வெடித்திருப்பதாகவும் இரு குண்டுகள் வெடிக்காத நிலையில் இருப்பதாகவும் அங்கு நேரில் சென்று பார்த்தவர்கள் தெரிவிக்கின்றனர்.

இத்தாக்குதலில் 6சிறுவர்கள் உட்பட 15பேர் கொல்லப்பட்டிருக்கிறார்கள். 35பேர் காயமடைந்திருக்கிறார்கள். ஏனையவர்கள் அக்கிராமத்தை விட்டு வெளியேறியிருப்பதாகவும் கிராமசேவை உத்தியோகத்தர் தெரிவிக்கிறார்.

கடற்கரையோர கிராமமான படகுதுறை கிராமம் முற்றாக அழிக்கப்பட்டு விட்டதாகவும் அக்கோரகாட்சியை மனிதநேயம் கொண்ட எவராலும் சகிக்க முடியாது என்றும் மன்னார் ஆயர் தெரிவித்திருக்கிறார்.

Air Force bombers destroy a major sea tiger base - North of Mannar

Sri Lanka Air Force fighter jets pounded on a major sea tiger base located at Iluppaikadawali in the North of Mannar around 9:30 a.m. this morning (Tuesday 2nd of January).

The defence sources confirmed that the target has been well identified by the intelligence sources as the main logistic base of the sea tigers in Mannar.

The LTTE terrorists have been increasingly using the base for arms smuggling and drug trafficking activities since last few months as the Navy has effectively cracked down sea tiger activities in the Eastern coast. The terror camp however, has been operating as the main logistic base for the sea tigers in the North-west of un-liberated areas in Wanni since the year 2000.

The radio transmission overheard by the Electronic Warfare experts revealed that a senior terrorist leader in Mannar has also been based at the destroyed camp. The same sources further revealed that the terrorists have cordoned the area and summoned transport assistance to transfer its casualties.

Meanwhile, pro terror websites have made their usual claim that the government had bombed a civilian settlement in Mannar killing a large number of civilians. The defence officials however, rejected the accusation saying that they have ample evidence that the target was a terrorist base.
