The release of Pokemon Go last week was far more than your average iOS and Android app release. On the contrary, Pokemon Go has turned into a full-fledged mobile and cultural phenomenon the likes of which we have never seen.

Over the past few days, millions of users have been walking an endless number of miles in search of Pokemon. And of course, along the way, some ridiculous andcrazy Pokemon stories have emerged over the last few days, with a Pokemon-searching teenager stumbling across a dead body being just one example.

Xbox One Bundle for $270

GoPro Bundle for $199

In one hilarious instance of a Pokemon obsessed user taking things to far, the following video features a news anchor walking through and interrupting her station’s weather broadcast as she vigilantly searches for Pokemon to capture.

It was bound to happen eventually, but on Tuesday, July 12th, a 28-year-old driver in Auburn, New York reportedly crashed into a tree while playing Pokemon Go. According to the Auburn Police Department, the driver admitted that he was distracted by the app and ran his vehicle off the road.

Thankfully, the injuries were relatively minor — cuts on his legs and disorientation. He was sent to the Auburn Community Hospital, but should recover promptly.

That said, Police Chief Shawn Butler tells Auburn’s The Citizen that the engine “was actually starting to come into the passenger compartment.” In other words, the driver was very lucky he wasn’t seriously injured or killed.

Following the incident, the Auburn PD released an advisory reminding drivers to use “common sense” when it comes to catching Pokemon and keeps their eyes on the road at all times (even if there’s a Charizard lurking about).

Here are the bullet points from said advisory:

  • Do not trespass onto private property to catch a Pokemon
  • Be aware of your surroundings
  • Use caution when sharing locations — strangers can see your location information
  • Travel in groups in public, well-lit areas

That first point—not trespassing on private property—seems to have been an especially hard rule to follow, as we noted in our list of the most inappropriate places to play Pokemon Go, but these should be good rules of thumb for any player.

So feel free to keep catching ’em all, just be safe and smart about it.

Pokémon Go is now available in the UK

Get out and catch 'em Britain

1

I've spent the past week wandering around my local park in London staring at my phone and catching monsters, and now you can too. While Pokémon Go launched in the US last week, Brits across the pond have had to resort to sideloading the game on Android or using a US iTunes account to get early access. Pokémon Go is now officially launching in the UK on Android and iOS today.

Following the German launch yesterday, it's clear the UK addition means more European countries will get access to the hugely popular game this week. A large number of British players have already been playing the game, so the vast majority of gyms have already been secured by Pokémon trainers. If you did use a US iTunes account, you'll need to delete the app and reinstall it from the UK App Store to continue receiving updates to the game. If you've waited for the official launch, now is the time to read up on exactly how to play Pokémon Go, and get those walking shoes ready because you're going to need them.

Is Pokémon Go available in your country?

Pokémon Go has kept players rapt since it launched on July 6 — at least, players in those countries lucky enough to already have the game. Several major regions are left in wait, anxiety building within Pokémon fans worldwide who can do nothing but hope that today is the day.

Is today your country’s day? We can make no promises, but peruse our list below to find a "yes" or "no" answer to this question for the citizens of many different countries around the world. If the odds are not yet in your favor, keep checking back — we’ll be sure to update when Pokémon Go has become available in another country.

North America

Is Pokémon Go out in the U.S.?

Yes! The game exploded stateside on July 6, rolling out to Android users slightly before players on iOS got to check it out.

Is Pokémon Go out in Canada?

No. Apologies to our northern neighbors. Our hearts are with you.

Is Pokémon Go out in Mexico?

No. We’ve got our fingers crossed for our fellow Pokémon lovers down south, however.

Europe

Is Pokémon Go out in the U.K.?

Yes! The game greeted British citizens on July 14.

Is Pokémon Go out in Germany?

Yes! Germans welcomed the game on July 13, the first members of the EU to do so.

Is Pokémon Go out in Spain?

[Update: Yes, it's live now! Here's the link to the iOS App Store in Spain] No. Keep those fingers crossed, Spaniards.

Is Pokémon Go out in France?

No. French fans will have to keep waiting.

Is Pokémon Go out in Italy?

[Update: Yes, it's live now! Here's the link to the iOS App Store in ItalyNo. We can’t wait for all the screenshots of players catching Magikarp in Venice, though.

Is Pokémon Go out in Portugal?

Yes, it is. You can find it on the Portuguese iOS App Store here.

Is Pokémon Go out in Russia?

No. The Moscow Times reports that one political group is already looking to ban the game, however. Unfortunately for them, Pokémon Go is expected to launch in Russia sooner than later.

Is Pokémon Go out in Poland?

No. The birthplace of The Witcher franchise has yet to catch Pokémania.

Asia

Is Pokémon Go out in Japan?

No. Despite being the birthplace of the franchise, Japan hasn’t gotten the game yet.

Is Pokémon Go out in China?

No. The world’s biggest country — and biggest gaming market — doesn’t have Pokémon Go yet, causing many to turn to playing a blatant knockoff instead.

Is Pokémon Go out in South Korea?

No. We imagine players in South Korea are doing just fine, however, considering how Overwatch has completely taken off in the country, just under two months since launch.

Is Pokémon Go out in Taiwan?

No. Sorry, Taiwanese fans; keep holding on.

Is Pokémon Go out in India?

No, although we imagine catching all of the Pokémon in India will be tough, considering the country’s area: 1.269 million square miles.

Is Pokémon Go out in Malaysia?

No. Hopefully that doesn’t deter Malaysian fans from enjoying the country’s beautiful summer weather in the meantime.

Oceania

Is Pokémon Go out in Australia?

Yes! Australians technically got the game first, in fact, alongside New Zealanders. It hit iTunes and the Google Play store July 6.

South America

Is Pokémon Go out in Brazil?

No. Maybe the country will get it in time for the Olympics to kick off in Rio on Aug. 5.

Is Pokémon Go out in Chile?

No. Chileans are out of luck for now.

Is Pokémon Go out in Argentina?

No. Sorry, Argentina.

Is Pokémon Go out in Colombia?

No. No Pokémon Go for South America whatsoever as of now.

Africa

Is Pokémon Go out in Egypt?

No. We imagine, once it does, plenty of tourists will get sick of finding just Sandshrew near the pyramids.

Is Pokémon Go out in Nigeria?

No. Africa’s most populous country is out of luck for now. Pokémon Go will be a fun distraction during all that endless traffic In Lagos, though.

Is Pokémon Go out in the United Arab Emirates?

No. Dubai is getting a pretty rad virtual reality arcade, though, which should help with the wait.

Ugh. When is my country getting Pokémon Go?

As you can tell, the answer to a lot of these availability questions is "no" for the time being. Niantic Labs hasn’t been giving us much of a heads up before launching the game in a new territory, so it’s hard to know for sure when those left out of the phenomenon right now will be able to participate. Asian and more European countries are expected to receive the game soon, but for those on other continents, feel free to live vicariously through our Pokémon Go guides and coverage, found below.
