என தெற்கு மற்றும் மத்திய ஆசியாவுக்கான அமெரிக்க இராஜாங்க உதவிச் செயலர் ரொபர்ட் ஓ பிளேக் வலியுறுத்தியுள்ளார்.

இலங்கைக்கான பயணத்தை மேற்கொண்டுள்ள பிளேக், தனது பயணம் குறித்து இன்று கொழும்பில் இடம்பெற்ற ஊடகவியலாளர்கள் சந்திப்பின் போது இவ்வாறு தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.

LLRC should examine Moon's Darusman report..

'America is not a country that offers any threats to any country. We are there to help develop the countries. We are having a great faith in the final report of the Lessons learnt and reconciliation Commission (LLRC). We are paying a lot of attention to it. We expect the LLRC to examine the Dharusman report of the UN Secretary general . We believe that we will receive the answers for many of the questions� � Robert O Blake , the Assist. State Secretary of US in charge of South and Central Asia made these comments when answering a question raised by a media personnel at a media discussion he participated today in Colombo in his last leg of his Sri Lanka tour.

The question posed by the journalist was whether US is pressurizing SL?

Blake stated that the armed groups in the North shall be divested of arms, and the Tamil speaking police shall be entrusted with the duty of ensuring the peace and security of the civilians there, in which case the Army can be relieved of their security duties in respect of civilians. The Govt. should also take measures in regard to the grease devil scourge , he added.

He is acting with great commitment towards formulating solutions to SL�s issues , and the objective of his tour was to study the crux of the problem is., and what is aggravating it. Referring to his discussions with the opposition , he said , he was made to understand that the opposition is making efforts to help the Govt. to resolve the issues , which is a good sign, Blake noted.

When Blake met the intelligentsia in Jaffna yesterday and had discussions , they had drawn Blake�s attention to many important subjects..

They had told him , though the war was over, the language , culture and their rights have still not been restored, nor the democratic freedom . They are scared to talk out and articulate their views , and therefore requested Blake to take their grievances across internationally, adding that the situation is so dire that if the truth is exposed they are not allowed to exist. Because of this grease scourge , the people of North are in a fear psychosis and there is no assurance of security to them. Although it was promised that after the war was over they would be resettled , that had gone no further than mere lip service .

The people are still in hovels and temporary huts made of �takaran� (metal) sheets and they have no proper jobs. The high security zones are still existent while schemes have been launched whereby properties belonging to the Tamils which had been taken over by the Govt. are being given on business deals to Sinhala Businessmen from South. The intelligentsia of the North is being changed.. Because laws are being changed and new laws are being improvised almost daily , the fisher folks are meeting with obstacles to engage in their fishing activities in the sea. As they have no one to complain to and no one to listen to , they are in utter desperation , hence they implored Blake to voice their grievances at least before the world . Blake had agreed to do their bidding..

Blake who concluded his SL tour today , left for New Delhi , India this evening.
