இலங்கையில் நல்லிணக்கம் சாத்தியமாகுமா? என்ற தலைப்பில் ஒரு விவாதம் நடந்தது.

அல்-ஜசீராவால் ஏற்பாடான இந்த விவாதத்தில் சிங்களத்தின் பிரதிநிதி சனல் நாலின் குற்றச்சாட்டுக்களை மறுத்ததுடன் சிங்கள நாட்டுக்குள்ளேயே விசாரணை நடக்கும் எனவும் வெளிநாட்டு ஆலோசனைகளோ உதவிகளோ தேவை இல்லை என்றார்.

இந்தியாவின் ஒரு முதன்மை பத்திரிகையில் அந்த நாட்டின் ஒரு சர்வதேச அரசியல் ஆய்வு மையத்தின் பிரதிநிதி ஒருவர் இந்தியா இலங்கை விடயத்தில் இந்தியா கடுமையான அன்பை காட்டவேண்டும் என கேட்டுள்ளார்.

வழமைபோல ஜெனீவாவில் ஒரு நாட்டுக்கு எதிரான தீர்மானத்தில் அதை ஆதரிக்கமாட்டோம் என்ற கொள்கையில் சிரியாவுக்கு எதிரான கொள்கையில் அந்த நாட்டுக்கு எதிராக இந்தியா வாக்களித்ததை கூறினார்.

போர்குற்றங்களை புரிந்த சிங்களம் சீனாவை காட்டி இந்தியாவை கட்டுப்படுத்தும் அணுகுமுறையில் மாற்றம் தேவை என மேலும் கூறியுள்ளார்.

Time for tough love

Wary of China’s looming strategic penetration of our backyards, we have permitted political processes in these countries to drift away from our core interests. Sri Lanka under the Rajapaksa clan keeps playing off India against China and gets away with mass murder. India is not benefiting from the status quo, which is a unitary Sri Lanka with a simmering minority population whose civil and political rights haven’t improved one whit since the decimation of the LTTE.

It is imperative that New Delhi reassesses why it has lost all leverage over Sri Lanka and how that can be regained. Colombo is no less closer to China today than it was during the endgame of the LTTE. We can regain respect and influence in Sri Lanka through tough love and collective multilateral action with western powers that are showing greater concern for redressing grievances of its minorities. Letting the Rajapaksas off the hook yet again would be a costly blunder of strategy and of principle.

நீண்ட காலமாக சிங்களத்திற்கு ஆதரவு தரும் இந்தியாவின் இந்துவும் ஜெனீவா மீதான பிரேரணையில் இந்தியா எவ்வாறு வாக்களிக்கவேண்டும் என்பது பற்றி எழுதியுள்ளது.

டெல்லியின் 'மென்மையான அரசியல் போக்கு' கடந்த மூன்று வருடங்களில் எந்த பலாபலன்களையும் தரவில்லை என்பதை ஏற்றுக்கொண்டதுடன் டெல்லியின் அணுகுமுறையில் மாற்றம் வேண்டும் எனவும் எழுதியுள்ளது.

மேற்குலகத்துடன் இணைந்து இந்தியா அந்த தீர்மானத்திற்கு ஆதரவு தருவது சமாதான முயற்சிகளை பாதிக்கலாம் என்பதால் கவனமாக டெல்லி இதைக்கையாள வேண்டும் என எழுதியுள்ளது.

But if quiet diplomacy hasn't worked, India must carefully assess whether the HRC resolution will get the Sri Lankan government to move in the right direction. Western powers seem to believe it can shame Sri Lanka into doing this. In fact, the proposed censure might work in exactly the opposite way, by further fuelling Sinhala nationalism and rendering the possibility of political reconciliation even more distant.

இதைவைத்து இப்போது இந்தியா தீர்மானத்தை எதிர்க்க மன்னார் எண்ணெய் வளத்தை பேரம் கேட்கிறதாம்.
