இலங்கை இராணுவத்தினருக்கு தமிழகத்தில் பயிற்சி தருவதை நிறுத்த வேண்டும், என்ற கோரிக்கையை வலியுறுத்தி, பிரதமர் மன்மோகன் சிங்கிற்கு தமிழக முதல்வர் ஜெயலலிதா கடிதம் எழுதியுள்ளார்.நீலகிரி மாவட்டம் வெலிங்டனில் இலங்கை இராணுவத்தினருக்கு மத்தியரசு பயிற்சி வழங்கி வருகிறது.

இந்த பயிற்சியை உடனடியாக நிறுத்த வேண்டும் என்று முதல்வர் ஜெயலலிதா, பிரதமர் மன்மோகனுக்கு கடிதம் எழுதியுள்ளார்.

இலங்கை இராணுவத்தைச் சேர்ந்த மேஜர் திசநாயகா, மேஜர் ஹேவாவசம் ஆகியோருக்கு இந்தயா சார்பில், வெலிங்டனில் கடந்த 4 மாத காலமாக பயிற்சி அளிக்கப்பட்டு வருகிறது.

இந்த தகவலை இராணுவம் மாநில அரசுக்கு தெரிவிக்கவே இல்லை, என்று ஜெயலலிதா குற்றம்சாட்டியுள்ளார்.

மேலும் தமிழக மக்களின் உணர்வுகளை, மத்தியரசு மதிக்கவில்லை என்றும் ஜயலலிதா தனது கடிதத்தில் கடுமையாக சாடியுள்ளார்.

[size=5]The Defence Ministry is considering the demand made by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalitha to send back two Sri Lankan officers training in the Defence Services Staff College in Wellington in the state.[/size]

[size=3][size=5]Accusing the Centre of showing "excessive enthusiasm" in training Sri Lankan defence personnel, the Tamil Nadu chief minister has written a letter to the Prime Minister putting forth her demand in this regard.[/size][/size]

[size=3][size=5]"As far as we are concerned, this is a Defence Ministry matter and we are in touch with them," Foreign Secretary Ranjan Mathai told reporters in Delhi when asked about the issue.[/size]

[size=5]In July, nine Sri Lankan defence personnel were removed from a training institution in Tambaram to Bangalore after opposition from political parties in the state.[/size][/size]

[size=3][size=5]In her letter, Jayalalitha said such "reprehensible attitude" on the part of the Centre was reflected in permitting two Sri Lankan defence personnel – Major Dissanayaka Mohottalalage Vengra and Captain Hewawasam Kadaudage – to undergo 11 months training at Defence Services Staff College at Wellington from May 19.[/size][/size]
