இலங்கையில் சமாதானம், பொறுப்புக் கூறல், மீளிணக்கம் ஆகியவற்றுக்கு ஆதரவு வழங்குவது தொடர்பாக வெளியுறவு அமைச்சர் கிறிஸ்ரியா ஃபிறீலண்ட் வெளியிட்ட அறிக்கை

வெளியுறவு அமைச்சர் கௌரவ கிறிஸ்ரியா ஃபிறீலண்ட் அவர்கள், ஐக்கிய நாடுகள் மனித உரிமைச் சபையின் 40 ஆவது கூட்டத்தொடர் ஜெனிவாவில் ஆரம்பமாவதை முன்னிட்டு இந்த அறிக்கையை வெளியிட்டார்:
“பொறுப்புக் கூறல் நடவடிக்கைகள், போரில் பாதிக்கப்பட்டவர்களின் நம்பிக்கையைப் பெற்றிருக்க வேண்டுமெனக் கனடா நம்புகிறது. இந்த நோக்கத்துக்காகவே, இலங்கை குறித்த மையக் குழுவில் இணைந்து கொள்ளவுள்ளதாக கனடா ஃபெப்ரவரி ஐந்தாந் திகதி அறிவித்தது. ஐக்கிய இராச்சியம் (பிரித்தானியா) ஜேர்மனி, மசிடோனியா, மொன்றநீக்றோ ஆகிய நாடுகளை உள்ளடக்கிய இந்த மையக் குழு, இலங்கையில் மீளிணக்கம் பொறுப்புக் கூறல் ஆகியவற்றுக்கு ஆதரவு வழங்கும் நடவடிக்கையில் முன்னின்று செயற்படுகிறது.
ஐக்கிய நாடுகள் அமைப்பாக இருந்தாலும், பொதுநலவாய நாடுகள் அமைப்பாக இருந்தாலும், அல்லது வேறு ஏதாவது வழிகளினூடாக இருந்தாலும், கனடாவின் நிலைப்பாடு தெளிவானது. இலங்கை ஆயுதப் போரின் நிறைவின் பத்தாம் ஆண்டு நெருங்கி வரும் வேளையில், சொந்த மக்களுக்கும், சர்வதேச சமூகத்திற்கும் வழங்கிய உறுதிமொழிகளை நிறைவேற்றுவதற்கான தெளிவான கால அட்டவணையையும், மூலோபாயத்தையும் வெளியிடுமாறு நாம் மீண்டும் வலியுறுத்திக் கேட்டுக் கொள்கிறோம். நீதி வழங்கப்படுவதற்கு ஐக்கிய நாடுகள் மனித உரிமைச் சபையின் 30/1 தீர்மானம் கட்டாயமாக முழுமையாக நிறைவேற்றப்படவேண்டும்.
கனடா இந்த விடயத்தில் உதவியும் ஒத்துழைப்பும் வழங்குவதற்குக் தயாராகவும், விருப்பத்துடனும் இருப்பதுடன் ஐக்கிய நாடுகள் மனித உரிமைச் சபையின் இந்தக் கூட்டத்தொடரில், தொடர்புள்ள அனைத்துத் தரப்பினருடனும் இணைந்து செயற்படுவதை ஆர்வத்துடன் எதிர்பார்த்தும் காத்திருக்கிறது.”

The Honourable Chrystia Freeland, Minister of Foreign Affairs, issued the following statement on the occasion of the 40th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva:
“Canada believes that accountability efforts must have the trust and confidence of the victims of war. That is why Canada announced on February 5, 2019, it was joining the Core Group on Sri Lanka at the UN Human Rights Council. This group of countries - including United Kingdom, Germany, Macedonia and Montenegro - is now leading efforts to support reconciliation and accountability in Sri Lanka.
Whether at the UN, in the Commonwealth, or through other channels and venues, Canada's position is clear. As we near the 10th anniversary of the end of the armed conflict in Sri Lanka, we reiterate our call for the government of Sri Lanka to set a clear timetable and strategy for implementing the commitments it has made to its own people and to the international community. Justice demands that UNHRC Resolution 30/1 be implemented in its entirety.
Canada is ready, willing, and able to assist in this regard, and looks forward to engaging all stakeholders during this session of the UN Human Rights Council. “
