சிறிலங்கா அரசாங்கம் போர் முடிந்தும் நல்லிணக்கத்தினை ஏற்படுத்தும் முயற்சியில் ஈடுபடவில்லை என கனேடிய வெளியுறவு அமைச்சர் குற்றம் சாட்டியுள்ளார். கூடவே இறுதிக்கட்டப் போரின்போது இடம்பெற்றவை எனத் தெரிவிக்கப்படும் போர்க் குற்றச்சாட்டுகள் குறித்து பொறுப்புக் கூற வேண்டிய கடப்பாடு இலங்கை அரசுக்கு உள்ளது. எனினும் இலங்கையில் வளர்ந்துவரும் சர்வாதிகாரப் போக்கையே நாங்கள் காண்கிறோம் என்றும் அமைச்சர் ஜோன் பயட் தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.

கடந்த ஒக்டோபர் மாதம் ஆஸ்திரேலியாவில் நடைபெற்ற பொதுநலவாய மாநாட்டில் இலங்கையில் மனித உரிமை மீறல்கள் இடம்பெற்றதாக பிரதமர் ஸ்ரீபன் ஹார்பர் விமர்சித்திருந்தார். இதனையடுத்தே வெளிவிவகார அமைச்சர் ஜோன் பயட் இதனைத் தெரிவித்தார்.படையினர் யுத்தக் குற்றச்செயல்களில் ஈடுபட்டனர் எனத் தெரிவிக்கப்படும் குற்றச்சாட்டை மறுத்துள்ள இலங்கை அரசு, இதுதொடர்பான விசாரணையை நடத்துவது குறித்தும் மறுப்புத் தெரிவித்துள்ளது.

அரசின் நிலைப்பாட்டுக்கு எதிரான ஐ.நா.வின் அண்மைய அறிக்கையை ஜோன் பயட் பாராட்டியுள்ளார்.

2009ஆம் ஆண்டு இடம்பெற்ற தமிழீழ விடுதலைப்புலிகளுடனான யுத்தம் முடிவடைந்ததைத் தொடர்ந்து, யுத்தக் குற்றச்செயல்கள் குறித்து விசாரணையை முன்னெடுக்கப்பட வேண்டுமென இலங்கைக்கு மேற்குலக நாடுகள் அழுத்தம் கொடுத்து வருகின்றன.

யுத்தம் முடிவடைந்து இரண்டு வருடங்களானபோதிலும் தமிழ்ச் சமூகத்தவருடனான அர்த்தமுள்ள நல்லிணக்கமொன்றை ஏற்படுத்துவதற்கான முயற்சிகளை காணவில்லை என்றும் அமைச்சர் ஜோன் பயட் தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.

இலங்கை அரசின் வளர்ந்து வரும் சர்வாதிகாரப் போக்கையே நாங்கள் கண்டுள்ளோம் என்றும் அவர் தெரிவித்தார்.

As someone who is concerned in Human Rights, I would like to thank for your comments to the MPs at the Commons foreign affairs committee where You reiterated that Sri Lanka needs to take accountability for serious allegations of war crimes committed during its 25-year civil war. More importantly Sri Lanka failed to show any meaningful attempt to resolve legitimate struggle of Tamils and the regime grows as authoritarian. And the current regime threatens the rights of all citizens, not just Tamils.

Once again thank you for firm stands on Sri Lanka's human rights issues, rule of law, accountability, international investigation on possible 'war crimes' in the last phase of the war in 2009 and pointing out the failure of meaningful attempt at reconciliation with the Tamil minority even after two years of war ended.
