2. An ongoing National Investigation Agency (NIA) probe into the seizure of 300 kg heroin, five AK-47 rifles and 1,000 live rounds of 9mm ammunition off the coast of Vizhinjam near Thiruvananthapuram has led to speculation that an international drug running and weapon trading racket is aimed at reviving the Sri Lankan Tamil separatist group LTTE. The case relates to the March 18 interception of a boat with the contraband by the Coast Guard following an intelligence input. The mastermind behind the operation was Sri Lankan Tamil Suresh Rajan, a resident of Colombo who had been living at Kundrathur, a Chennai suburb, for some time, the Indian Express reported. Multip…

MAY 6 A Report on Shocking Revelations Shocking revelation of Rajiv’s assassination It is with the tragic assassination of former Prime Minister of India Mr. Rajiv Gandhi that the real face of the deep seated threat to the national security posed by long term and wider conspiracy came to lime light. But unfortunately, the reputed investigation agencies of the nation along with judiciary, succumbing to the acutely misguided public opinion and shoddily influenced by a long hatched conspiracy ended up naming few innocent individuals as being solely responsible for an unprecedented event demeaning national security. This carefully orchestrated exercise in the gui…

  5. Colonel Douglas Macgregor sits down with Stephen Gardner for update on the Ukraine-Russia war. Is the war in Ukraine about to hit a turning point because I am starting to see groups like the Washington post and the New York Times finally tell the truth about the strength and condition of Ukraine’s army and the number of casualties they have suffered? Why do you say that Bakhmut has been like a meat grinder? And is it time for Ukraine to fall back, regroup, give themselves a couple days to build up ammunition, and then dig in and try and hold the line again? Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina says it’s time for the United States to get serious and show Russia who is …

  9. Gary Anandasangaree The images of young children being separated from their parents at the U.S.-Mexican border over the past several years was a shocking revelation of the cruelties faced by migrants, asylum seekers and those seeking a better life than the ones they were born into. The anguish they faced and their desperate cries for help made us weep for the world and the times we are living in. But not too long ago, Canada was at the centre of this cruelty. Since we never saw these stark images on our TV screens or Twitter feeds we did not think this could exist in our country, or so we believed. We are, by all accounts, a reasonable peop…

  18. Warning: The information here is not written to offend anyone. I humbly state that these are written only to document the history of the Tamil Eelam Tamil's past. This is a translation of a document I created on my own from Tamil to English. The LTTE (Military of de-facto Tamil Eelam) had three military branches, like the conventional military of any UN-recognized country in the world. Along with these three main military branches, they also had an entirely new military branch in this modern world. That is the 'Self-Benefaction Force', the "Black Tigers" (Tamil: Karumpulikal) in their language (Credits to Sachi Sri Kantha). These are the modern-day forces that the…

We live in an age of strongman leaders whether it is in India, China or the US. And Sri Lanka has also elected such a leader as President. The emergence of strongman politics is a reflection of the contemporary global order, which is constituted by the geopolitics of tensions and negotiations, rather than an order determined by global rules and norms. However, it is not that the global order was ever committed to equality; historically, global rules and norms were always lopsided towards the powerful. The big powers chose the time and chance for exceptions as they impinged on their interests, and that is also why we have seen the many confli…

Texas to open fastest US highway with 85 mph limit AUSTIN, Texas — Texas will soon open a stretch of highway with the highest speed limit in the country, giving eager drivers a chance to rip through a trip between two of the state's largest metropolitan areas. The Texas Transportation Commission has approved a speed limit of 85 mph for a 41-mile toll road several miles east of the increasingly crowded Interstate 35 corridor between Austin and San Antonio. "I would love it," Austin resident Alan Guckian said. "Sometimes it's fun to just open it up." But while some drivers will want to test their horsepower and radar detectors, oth…

WHEN JOHN Britto, 19, saw No War Zone: The Killing Fields of Sri Lanka, a documentary produced by the UK-based Channel 4 exposing alleged war crimes by the Sri Lankan Army during the 2009 crackdown on the LTTE, he felt the need to protest against the atrocities. “I was shocked by images depicting the coldblooded killing of 12-year-old Balachandran, the son of the slain LTTE chief Velupillai Prabhakaran,” says Britto, a student of Loyola College, Chennai. So when Britto and his friends saw the draft of the US-backed UN resolution on Sri Lanka, they were outraged by the mild language censuring the island nation, despite the UN itself claiming that more than 40,000 Tamil…
