இவ்வாண்டில் இலங்கையின் பொருளாதார வளர்ச்சி இலங்கை எதிர்வுகூறும் 7.5 சதவீதம் என்ற அளவை விடக் குறைவாக, 6.8 சதவீதமாக இருக்குமென உலக வங்கி எதிர்வுகூறுகிறது.

 

கடந்த ஆண்டு பொருளாதார வளர்ச்சி 6.1 சதவீதமாக இருந்ததெனவும், இவ்வாண்டில் அது அதிகரித்து, 6.8 சதவீதமாக இருக்குமெனவும், எதிர்வரும் 2015 ஆம் ஆண்டளவில் அது 7.2 சதவீதமாக இருக்குமெனவும் உலக பொருளாதார எதிர்பார்ப்புக்கள் குறித்த உலக வங்கியின் அறிக்கை குறிப்பிடுகிறது.

இறக்குமதிகளின் அளவு அதிகரிப்பதைக் கட்டுப்படுத்துவதற்கும், கடன்களின் அளவு அதிகரிப்பதைக் கட்டுப்படுத்துவதற்கும் இலங்கை அரசு கடந்த ஆண்டு எடுத்த நடவடிக்கைகள்தான், கடந்த ஆண்டில் பொருளாதார வளர்ச்சி குறைவாக இருந்தமைக்கு காரணமென உலக வங்கி தெரிவிக்கிறது.

With an over Rs. 50 billion worth Treasury (T) Bond due to mature on February 1, coupled with a Rs. nine billion T Bond auction due tomorrow, those had an impact on the T. Bond and T Bill market, with yields which were previously on a contracting mode, beginning to expand last week.

Their increase is due to a perceived over-supply situation in the market, which translates to a buyers’ market, hence the expansion in yields. Profit taking also helped to expedite the deterioration in yields, a market source told this newspaper.
