Vaiko plans to tour the State to mobilise support for Eelam

CHENNAI: The Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam will mobilise youth and students in the State in support of Tamil Eelam, general secretary Vaiko said on Wednesday.

Addressing a meeting organised by the advocates' wing of the party here, he said he would tour the State to propagate the concept of Tamil Eelam .

Asserting that there was no alternative to the Tamils other than an independent nation, Mr. Vaiko said agreements and assurances given to the Tamils by the Sri Lankan Government in the past had not been honoured. On the other hand, systematic measures were taken by the Government to "annihilate" the Tamil race. This had forced the Tamils to take up arms against the Government.

India's stand

Questioning India's support to Sri Lanka's unity and integrity, Mr.Vaiko said India had no locus standi to make any such suggestion. It was for the Tamils to decide. That the formation of a Tamil Eelam would lead to the creation of a greater Tamil nation, including Tamil Nadu, was a "malicious propaganda," he said.

While his party was for the India's unity, it favoured Tamil Eelam to enable Tamils there to leave peacefully, he said. Appealing to the Prime Minister to send a delegation of MPs of all political parties to the Tamil areas in Sri Lanka to find out the situation prevailing there, Mr. Vaiko said India should extend support to the "freedom struggle of Tamils."

இலங்கையில் தமிழ் ஈழம் அமைய இந்தியாவும், உலக நாடுகளும் ஆதரிக்க வேண்டும் என்று மதிமுக பொதுச் செயலர் வைகோ கோரிக்கை விடுத்துள்ளார்.

மதிமுக வழக்கறிஞர்கள் பேரவை சார்பில் எழும்பூர் இம்பீரியல் ஓட்டலில் "தமிழ் ஈழம் ஏன்?' என்ற தலைப்பில் கருத்தரங்கம் நடந்தது. இதில் வைகோ பேசியதாவது: இலங்கை இனப் பிரச்சனைக்கு தமிழ் ஈழம்தான் ஒரே தீர்வு என 1995ல் நடந்த மதிமுக மாநாட்டில் தீர்மானம் நிறைவேற்றினோம். இந்த கருத்தில் இப்போதும் எந்த மாறுபாடும் கிடையாது. தமிழ் ஈழத்தை என்றும் நாங்கள் ஆதரிப்போம். தமிழ் ஈழத்தை இந்தியாவும், உலக நாடுகளும் ஆதரிக்க வேண்டும்.

தமிழ் ஈழம் அமைய போராடும் விடுத லைப்புலிகளை இந்தியா ஆதரிக்க வேண் டும். இந்திய கடற்படை இலங்கை கடற் படைக்கு எந்தவித உதவியும் செய்யக் கூடாது. ஆயுதம் தாங்கிய போராட்டத்தை எப்படி ஆதரிப்பது என்று பலர் கேட்கின்றனர். பல நாடுகள் ஆயுத புரட்சிகள் மூலம்தான் நாட்டில் சுதந்திர கொடியை பறக்க விட்டுள்ளன. நாக்பூரில் இருந்து இலங்கைக்கு வெடி பொருள்கள் சென்றது கண்டிக்கத் தக்கது.

இவ்வாறு அவர் பேசினார்.முன்னதாக கூட்டத்தில் மதிமுக செய்தி தொடர்பாளர் நன்மாறன், கவிஞர் காசி ஆனந்தன், மல்லை சத்யா ஆகியோர் பேசினர். இலங்கை தமிழ் எம்பி. சிவாஜி லிங்கம், வழக்கறிஞர் தேவதாஸ், நா.மனோகரன், வேளச் சேரி மணிமாறன், உள்பட பலர் கலந்து கொண்டனர். தலைமைக் கழக வழக்கறிஞர் இராம. சிவசங்கர் 100 சட்டக்கல்லூரி மாணவர்களை மதிமுகவில் இணைத்தார்.
