Three dead in Sri Lanka bus blast

At least three people have been killed and 35 injured by a bomb that hit a passenger bus in northern Sri Lanka, the country's defence ministry says.

The attack, in Vavuniya district, about 250km (155 miles) north of the capital, Colombo, happened late on Monday night.

Vavuniya is the last government-held garrison town before territory held by the separatist Tamil Tigers, blamed for the attack by Sri Lankan officials.

It is the third bombing of a civilian bus so far in April.

Military officials said the blast was probably caused by a mine planted by the side of the road to target the bus, which was travelling from the neighbouring Mannar area.

The government and the Tamil Tigers have blamed each other for the recent attacks.

Theoretical ceasefire

Both the Tigers and the military are, officially, still observing a 2002 ceasefire which has become meaningless in practice.

Violence began to increase after the 2005 election of President Mahinda Rajapakse. Since then about 4,000 people have been killed.

In one of the worst incidents more than 60 people - many of them children - were killed in a mine attack the government said the Tigers carried out on a bus in the town of Kabithigollewa, 200km (125 miles) north of the capital, Colombo, last June.

The Tigers are fighting for a Tamil homeland in the north and east of the island.

4 civilians killed, 37 injured in claymore attack on bus in Vavuniya

Four civilians including a women were killed and 37 wounded when the civilian bus carrying Tamil and Muslim passengers from Mannar to Colombo was hit by a Claymore mine around 11:30 p.m. Monday at Andiyapuliayankulam along Mannar-Madawachiya road in Vavuniya. Relatives of the victims have blamed the Sri Lanka Army for the attack on the civilian bus.

The injured passengers were first rushed to Chettikulam hospital and around 1:30 p.m transferred to Vavuniya general hospital.

Some of the injured passengers found to be in critical condition were taken to Anuradhapura hospital for further treatment.

வவுனியாவில் பஸ் தகர்ப்பு 4 பேர் பலி

வவுனியா: பலாலி விமானப்படை தளத்தில் விடுதலைப் புலிகள் விமானத் தாக்குதல் நடத்தியுள்ள நிலையில், வவுனியா அருகே நடந்த கண்ணி வெடித் தாக்குதலில் பேருந்து தகர்க்கப்பட்டது. அதில் பயணம் செய்த 4 பேர் கொல்லப்பட்டனர்.

இன்று காலை இலங்கையின் வவுனியா அருகே உள்ள செட்டிக்குளம் என்ற இடத்தில் பேருந்து ஒன்று சென்று கொண்டிருந்தது. அப்போது சாலையோரம் வைக்கப்பட்டிருந்த கண்ணிவெடியில் பேருந்து சிக்கியது.

இதில் பேருந்தில் பயணித்த 4 பேர் உடல் சிதறி இறந்தனர். 4 குழந்தைகள் உள்பட 30 பேர் படுகாயமடைந்தனர். காயமடைந்தவர்கள் செட்டிக்குளம் மருத்துவமனையில் அனுமதிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளனர்.

நார்வே குழுவுக்குத் தடை

இதற்கிடையே, கிளிநொச்சிக்குச் சென்று விடுதலைப் புலிகளின் பிரதிநிதிகளை சந்திக்க நார்வே தூதுக்குழுவுக்கு இலங்கை அரசு தடை விதித்து விட்டது.

நார்வே தூதுக்குழுத் தலைவர் ஹன்ஸ் பிராட்ஸ்கர் இலங்கை அரசுக்கும், விடுதலைப் புலிகளுக்கும் இடையே தடைபட்டுள்ள பேச்சுவார்த்தையை மீண்டும் தொடங்குவதற்கான சாத்தியக்கூறுகள் குறித்து முயற்சித்து வருகிறார்.

கடந்த வாரம் கொழும்பு வந்த அவர் அமைச்சர் நிமல ஸ்ரீபாலாவை சந்தித்துப் பேசினார். பின்னர் புலிகளின் பிரதிநிதிகளை சந்திப்பதற்காக கிளிநொச்சி செல்ல முடிவு செய்தார்.

ஆனால் பாதுகாப்பு நிலைமை சரியில்லை என்று கூறி நார்ேவ குழுவினருக்கு இலங்கை அரசு தடை விதித்துவிட்டது.

இதையடுத்து ஹன்ஸின் பயணம் ஒத்திவைக்கப்பட்டது. இதுகுறித்து நார்வே தூதகரக செய்தித் தொடர்பாளர் எரிக் நான்பெர்க் கூறுகையில், புலிகளின் பிரதிநிதிகளை எங்களது குழுவினர் சென்று சந்திக்க திட்டமிடப்பட்டிருந்தது. ஆனால், பாதுகாப்பு நிலை மோசமாக இருப்பதாக இலங்கை அரசு கூறியுள்ளதால் பயணம் ஒத்திவைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

ஹன்ஸ் பிராட்ஸ்கர் கிளிநொச்சி செல்லும் தேதி பின்னர் முடிவு செய்யப்பட்டு அறிவிக்கப்படும். தேதியை இலங்கை அரசுதான் முடிவு செய்து அறிவிக்க வேண்டும் என்றார்.
