இலங்கை சென்ற நோர்வே தமிழ் இளைஞரைக் காணவில்லை

நோர்வே நாட்டின் குடியுரிமை பெற்ற சௌந்தரராஜன் தம்பிராஜா (வயது 31) என்ற தமிழ் இளைஞர் கடந்த மார்ச் 31 ஆம் நாளில் இருந்து இலங்கையில் காணாமல் போய் உள்ளார். காணாமல் போவதற்கு முன்னர் இவரை சிறிலங்காப் படையினர் விசாரணை செய்ததாக தெரிவிக்கப்படுகின்றது.

1993 ஆம் ஆண்டில் இருந்து 13 வருடங்களாக நோர்வேயில் வசித்து வந்த சௌந்தரராஜன் தம்பிராஜா, கடந்த வருடம் தனது திருமண விடயமாக இலங்கை சென்றிருந்தார்.

அவ்வேளையில், கடந்த வருடம் ஓகஸ்ட் மாதம் உக்கிரமடைந்த மோதல்களைத் தொடர்ந்து கிளிநொச்சியில் தங்கியிருந்தார்.

இந்நிலையிலேயே கடந்த மார்ச் மாதம் இராணுவக் கட்டுப்பாட்டுப் பகுதிக்குச் சென்ற போது காணாமல் போய் உள்ளதாக நோர்வே நாட்டின் நாளேடு ஒன்று கடந்த சனிக்கிழமை தெரிவித்துள்ளது.

நோர்வேயில் உள்ள சௌந்தராஜனின் குடும்ப அங்கத்தவர்கள், இலங்கையில் உள்ள நோர்வேத் தூதரகத்துடன் தொடர்ச்சியாக தொடர்பில் இருப்பதாகவும், நோர்வே தூதரக அதிகாரிகளும், குடும்ப அங்கத்தவர்களும் இவரைக் கண்டுபிடிப்பதற்கு கடும் முயற்சிகள் எடுத்து வருவதாகவும் 'கிளாசகம்பன்' என்ற அந்த நாளேடு தெரிவித்துள்ளது.

சிறிலங்காப் படையினரால் இவர் கைது செய்யப்பட்டதற்கான தடயங்கள் ஏப்ரல் 12 ஆம் நாள் வரை அறியப்பட்டதாகவும், அவரது விடுதலைக்கு குடும்ப அங்கத்தவர்கள் முயற்சி செய்ததனால் அது தொடர்பாக அவர்கள் வெளியில் தெரிவிக்கவில்லை எனவும் கூறப்படுகின்றது. எனினும் இவரது கைதுக்கான ஆவணங்கள் எதுவும் இல்லை என தெரிவிக்கப்படுகின்றது.

சௌந்தரராஜன் காணாமல் போனது தொடர்பாக தாம் உன்னிப்பாக நிலைமைகளை அவதானித்து வருவதாக நோர்வேயின் வெளிவிவகார அமைச்சர் கிறிஸ்ரின் மெல்ஸம் தெரிவித்துள்ளார். எனினும் தூதரகம் இது தொடர்பான தகவல்களை தர மறுத்து விட்டது.

நோர்வேத் தூதரகம் தமது வெளிநாட்டு அமைச்சுக்கு இது தொடர்பான தகவல்களை உடனுக்குடன் தெரிவித்து வருவதாகவும், அந்த நாளேடு மேலும் தெரிவித்துள்ளது. இரு வாரங்களுக்கு முன்னர் நோர்வேயில் உள்ள சிறிலங்கா தூதரகத்துடன் நோர்வே அதிகாரிகள் இது தொடர்பில் தொடர்புகளை மேற்கொண்டுள்ளனர்.

நீண்ட காலத்தின் பின்னர் நோர்வேயைச் சேர்ந்த ஒருவர் இலங்கையில் காணாமல் போய் இருப்பது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.

Norwegian Tamil reported missing in Sri Lanka

A 31-year old Norwegian citizen of Tamil origin has been reported missing since March 31, after he was questioned by the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) in Vavu:niyaa. Sounthararajan Thambirajah who has lived in Norway for 13 years since 1993 had come to Sri Lanka last year on marriage purpose and was trapped in Ki'linochchi as violence broke out in August 2006. Mr. Southararajan crossed into the Government of Sri Lanka (GoSL) controlled territory at the end of March this year, a Norwegian daily reported Saturday.

Sounthararajan has family members in Norway and they have been in continous touch with the Norwegian mission in Sri Lanka, Klassekampen, the first media to break the story, reported.

The family and the Norwegian embassy officials have been working hard to find out the whereabouts of the Norwegian citizen Southararajan.

There were traces of arrest by Sri Lankan authorites til April 12, according to the family, the paper said.

The family was tight-lipped till they allowed the Tamil activists in Norway to go public as their repeated attempts to secure the release of their brother had failed, informed sources in Norway told TamilNet.

There has been no official documentation of the arrest

The paper, quoted Norwegian Foreign Ministry official, Kristin Melsom, as saying that the Norwegian authorities were monitoring the case of dissappearance closely. However, the Embassy had refused to go into details "due to the nature of the case," the paper said. The case was a "serious issue" for the Norwegian Embassy and the Embassy officials were continously briefing the Norwegian Foreign Ministry.

It was after a long period of time that a Norwegian national was reported missing in Sri Lanka.

The Sri Lankan Embassy in Oslo has also been approached by the Norwegian authorities two weeks ago, the Klassekampen reported.
