ESPN buys Cricinfo Web site from Wisden Group

MUMBAI (Reuters) -

Walt Disney Co.'s (DIS.N: Quote, Profile, Research) ESPN has bought cricket Web site Cricinfo from the Wisden group, ESPN and Cricinfo said in a statement on Monday.

Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.

"Growing our business in the online world is vital," said Russell Wolff, managing director of ESPN International.

"Cricinfo will be a strong addition to ESPN," he said in the statement.

Founded in 1993, Cricinfo reaches more than 7 million users every month, the statement said. It provides ball-by-ball coverage of all Test and one-day international matches as well as news and statistics.

The Wisden Group bought Cricinfo in 2003.
