சிறீலங்கா அரசு வன்னியில் இருந்து போர் அச்சம் காரணமாக இடம்பெயர்ந்து வரும் மக்களை தனிமைப்படுத்தி இராணுவம் நடத்தும் முகாம்களில் தடுத்து வைத்திருப்பதை நிறுத்த வேண்டும் என்றும் வன்னியில் போர் வலயத்துள் சிக்குப்பட்டுள்ள மக்களுக்கு அத்தியாவசிய தேவைகள் போய் சேர்வதை தடுக்கக் கூடாது என்றும் சர்வதேச மனித உரிமைகள் கண்காணிப்பகம் சிறீலங்காவை காட்டமாக கேட்டிருக்கிறது.

இதற்கிடையே வன்னியில் உள்ள மக்களை இவ்வாண்டு முடிவுக்குள் விடுதலைப்புலிகள் விடுவிக்க வேண்டும் இன்றேல் தடையை எதிர்நோக்குவதோடு அவர்களை உலக வரலாற்றில் இருந்து அழித்தொழிக்கப் போவதாகவும் மகிந்த கொக்கரித்துள்ளார்...!

End detentions and aid restrictions - HRW

The Sri Lankan government should stop arbitrarily detaining civilians fleeing fighting in the northern Vanni region and urgently allow humanitarian agencies to return to provide desperately needed aid, Human Rights Watch said in a new report released today.

“Hundreds of thousands of civilians are trapped in a war zone with limited aid because the government ordered the UN and other aid workers out,” said Brad Adams, Asia director at Human Rights Watch. “To add insult to injury, people who manage to flee the fighting end up being held indefinitely in army-run prison camps.”
