கொஞ்சம் விபரமாக அங்கு நடந்ததைப் பார்ப்போமானால்: 49. இந்தச் சூழ்நிலையை கருணையுடன் எண்ணிச் சிந்தித்த பெரிய வீரரான சம்புத்தர், ஜம்புதீபத்திலிருந்து வானில் எழுந்து இங்கு வந்தார். 50. யக்கர்கள் கூடிய அந்தக் கூட்டத்தின் மத்தியில், அவர்களின் தலைகளுக்கு மேல், புத்தர் தம் ஆசனத்தைக் கையிலே வைத்தபடி வானத்தில் நிலைத்து நின்றார். 51. அந்த இடத்தில் கூடியிருந்த இயக்கர்களின் கூட்டம், அவரை புத்தர் என எண்ணவில்லை; ஒருவேளை வேறொரு இயக்கன் என்று தான் அப்பொழுது நினைத்தார்கள். 52. மஹியா போக்லா என்ற இடத்திற்கு அருகில் உள்ள ஆற்றங் கரையில், சுபாங்கனா தூபா அமைந்த இடத்தில், அதாவது பிற்காலத்தில் மஹியங்கான ஸ்தூபம் அமைந்த புனித இடத்தில், மனிதர்களுள் சிறந்தவர் (புத்தர்), உயர்ந்த தியானத்தில் வானத்திலே நிலைத்து நின்றார். 54. அந்த மகத்தான வீரர், மாயாஜாலங்கள் நிகழ்த்தி, இயக்கன் போல வலிமைமிக்கவனாக, வான வெளியில் மேகக் கூடல்களை உருவாக்கி, மழை, குளிர்ந்த காற்று மற்றும் இருண்ட வானத்தை ஏற்படுத்தினார். 55. (பின் புத்தர் இயக்கர்களிடம் கூறினார்:) “எனக்கு தீயை அடக்கும் சக்தியும், அபாயங்களை நீக்கும் திறனும் உண்டு. இங்கே நான் உட்காருவதற்கு ஒர் இடம் கொடுங்கள். [இல்லையேல்] நான் உங்களுக்கு வெப்பத்தை அளிக்கப் போகிறேன்” என்றார். 56. [இயக்கர்கள் பதிலளித்தனர்]: “நீங்கள் தீய வெப்பத்தை நீக்க இயலுமானால், உங்களுக்கு விருப்பமான இடத்தில் உட்காருங்கள். நாங்கள் அனைவரும் ஒப்புக்கொள்கிறோம்; உங்கள் சக்தியை காண்பியுங்கள்.” என்றனர். 57. (புத்தர் பதில் அளித்தார்) : “நீங்கள் அனைவரும் வெப்பத்தை வேண்டுகிறீர்கள்; அதிகப்படியான வெப்பம், எரியும் தீ போன்ற வெப்பத்தை விரைவில் உண்டாக்குகிறேன்.” என்றார். 58. வெயிலான காலத்தில் மதிய நேரத்தில் சூரியன் போல, இயக்கர்களின் கூட்டத்தில் ஒரு கடுமையான வெப்பம் பரவியது. 59. ஒரு உலகம் அழியும் சமயத்தில், கல்பகால முடிவில் [பாலி மொழியில், "கப்பா" (က္ပ) என்பது சமஸ்கிருதத்தில் "கல்பம்" என்று மொழிபெயர்க்கப் படுகிறது, மேலும் இது பொதுவாக ஒரு நீண்ட காலத்தை, காலச் சுழற்சியை அல்லது உலகின் ஒரு யுகத்தைக் குறிக்கிறது.], நான்கு சூரியர்கள் வானத்தில் தோன்றி எரிக்கும் வெப்பத்தை விடவும், புத்தர் அமர்ந்த ஆசனத்தில் இருந்து வந்த வெப்பமும் ஒளியும் அதைவிட அதிகமாக இருந்தது. 63. அந்த வெப்பம் தீவுகளுக்கெல்லாம் பரவி, தாங்க முடியாததாகியது.இயக்கர்கள் பத்துத் திசைகளிலும்—கிழக்கு, மேற்கு, தெற்கு, வடக்கு, மேலே, கீழே என— எல்லா திசை நோக்கி அமைதிக்காக ஓடினார்கள். 66. ஆனால் அந்த மகா அனுபவசாலியான புத்தர் — முனிவர்களின் தலைவன், மகிழ்ச்சியை அளிப்பவரும், கருணையுள்ளவருமான அவர், இயக்கர்கள் துயரத்துடன் பயத்தில் குலைந்ததைப் பார்த்து, அவர்களது மனதில் மகிழ்ச்சியை ஏற்படுத்த நினைத்தார். 67. [பின்னர் அவர் சிந்தித்தார்] — இதே போல் [இலங்கை போல்] காணப்படும், உயர்வும் தாழ்வுமாக மற்றும் அழகாக அமைந்த நதிகள், மலைகள், குளங்கள், காடுகள் கொண்ட, இலங்கையை முற்றிலும் ஒத்த, கிரி தீவு [the island of Giri] என்னும் மற்றொரு தீவை நினைத்தார் என்று அறிய முடிகிறது.
புத்தரும் இயக்கர்களும் ஒரே மாதிரியாகத் தோன்றுவதால், இருவரும் ஒரே இனமாக, ஆகவே மனிதர்களாக இருந்திருக்க வேண்டும் என்பது புலனாகிறது. பின்னர் புத்தர் பலத்த மழை, குளிர் காற்று, இருள் மற்றும் கடுமையான வெப்பம் போன்றவற்றை அனுப்பி இயக்கர்களைப் பயமுறுத்தினார். அப்படி என்றால், புத்தர் உலகின் முதல் பயங்கரவாதி என்று ஒருவர், இந்த சம்பவத்தை வைத்து இலகுவாக் கூறலாம்! அது உண்மை என்பது போல, இன்று இலங்கையின் வடக்கு கிழக்கில் அவரின் சிலைகள் அத்துமீறி அடாவடியாகத் தோன்றுவதைக் கூறலாம்? இறுதியில், கருணையுள்ள புத்தர், இயக்கர்களை வேறொரு தீவுக்கு, கிரிதீபாவுக்கு ஒருபோதும் திரும்பி வரக்கூடாது என்று ஓடச் செய்தார். தீபவம்சம் 1-78. இதற்கு உதாரணம். 76. புத்தர் தன் மாய சக்தியால், ஒரு கயிறு கொண்டு மாடுகளை இழுப்பது போல, அந்தத் தீவை தன் பக்கம் இழுத்தார். அவர் அந்த தீவுகளைக் [இலங்கை மற்றும் கிரி] கப்பல்களை ஒரு வலுவான கயிற்றால் இணைப்பது போல ஒன்றோடொன்று சேர்த்தார். 77. அழகான தீவை மற்றதுடன் இணைத்த பின்பு, "இனி எல்லா இயக்கர்களும் (அரக்கர்களும்) கிரிதீபத்தில் வாழட்டும்" என புத்தர் கூறினார். 78. வெயிலில் தாகம் அடைந்தவர்கள் நதியை நாடுவது போல, இயக்கர்கள் அனைவரும் ஆர்வத்துடன் கிரிதீபத்திற்குச் சென்றனர். அவர்கள் அனைவரும் மீண்டும் ஒருபோதும் திரும்பி வராமல் அதற்குள் நுழைந்தனர்; பின்னர் முனிவர் அந்த தீவை அதன் பழைய இடத்திற்கு மீண்டும் கொண்டு சென்றார் என்கிறது. கருணையும், இரக்கமுமாய் உயிர்களுக்கு நற்பயன் செய்வதையே வாழ்வின் குறிக்கோளாகக் கொண்ட மகா முனிவரை, இப்படிப் பட்ட கொடுமைகள் செய்வதாகச் சொல்லப்படும் படி, இத்தகைய அநாகரிக, குற்றமிக்க செயல்களை அவருக்கே ஒப்புவித்து, புனித புத்தரை அவமதித்துப் புகழிழப்பித்தது அந்த புத்த பிக்கு ஆசிரியர்களே! அவர்கள் செய்தது புத்தருக்க்கு உண்மையில் துரோகமே!! அத்தகைய பொய்க் கதைகளை இயற்றி, அதில் ஏதேதோ பெருமைகளை நிலை நாட்ட முயன்ற அந்தக் காப்பியக்காரர்களுக்கு இது உண்மையில் அவமானமும் வெட்கமுமே!
புத்தர், தாழ்வான நிலமும், உயரமான நிலமும் கொண்ட, மற்றும் பல்வேறு அம்சங்களுடன், ஆறுகள், மலைகள் மற்றும் ஏரிகளால் அழகாக அலங்கரிக்கப்பட்ட, லங்கா [இலங்கை] நாட்டைப் போலவே, இலங்கைக்கு அருகில் இருந்த கிரி தீவைக் கண்டறிந்தபோது, அவர்களை [இயக்கர்களை] அந்தத் தீவுக்குத் துரத்துவதன் நோக்கம் தான் என்ன? இது ஒரு புத்தியுள்ள, பண்பாடு நிறைந்த நாகரிக மனிதனின் செயாலா?? கொஞ்சம் சிந்தியுங்கள்!
அதற்குப் பதிலாக, கட்டாயம் அவர் [புத்தர்] அந்தத் தீவைத் தான் தேர்ந்தெடுத்திருப்பார், ஏனெனில் அது ஏற்கனவே அதே பகுதியில், முற்றிலும் இதே போன்ற நிலையில் காலியாக உள்ளது ??
Part: 120 / APPENDIX – "Conflict between buddha's characters and the events mentioned in Ceylon chronicles"
[49. Having considered this matter, full of compassion, the great hero rose into the air and came hither from Jambudīpa. 50. In the midst of the assembly of Yakkhas, above their heads, he was seen, standing in the air, holding his seat (in his hands). 51. The assembled hosts of Yakkhas saw the Sambuddha standing there, but they did not think that he was the Buddha; they supposed him to be another Yakkha. 54. There the hero stood, performing miracles by his (magical) power, like a Yakkha of high (magical) power and great (supernatural) faculties; gathering (?) thick clouds, containing thousands of rain drops, he sent rain, cold winds, and darkness. 55. (He then spoke to the Yakkhas:) “I will send you heat; give unto me a place where I may sit down. I possess such power over the fire as will dispel these dangers.” 58. As the sun shines in summer at noon, so fearful heat penetrated the assembly of Yakkhas. 59. Like the heat spread by the four suns at the end of a Kappa, such and greater still was the glow sent forth by the seat of the Teacher. 63. It spread insupportable heat over the islands. The Yakkhas quickly fled in all ten directions, to the east, the west, the south, the north, above, and beneath. 66. And Buddha, the chief among Sages, the bringer of happiness, the compassionate, merciful great Sage, when he saw the afflicted, frightened Yakkhas, thought how to administer joy to the minds of these non-human beings. 67. (He) then (thought of) another island, similar to this, with low ground and high ground, with many various aspects, beautifully adorned by rivers, mountains, and lakes, the island of Giri, most similar to the country of Laṅkā.]
Both, the Buddha and the Yakkhas, must have been humans to look similar. The Buddha then terrorized Yakkhas by sending heavy rain, cold wind, darkness and extreme heat etc. The first terrorist of the world, one may say! In the end, the merciful Buddha, made the Yakkhas run away to another island, Giridipa; never to return, Dipavamsa 1-78. [76. Gotama by his (magical) power drew the island towards himself, like the headstalls of bullocks which are drawn (towards the driver) with a strong rope. The Sage drew together one island towards the other, like two ships which are surrounded by stout ropes. 77. Having joined the beautiful island to the other, the Tathāgata transported (?) the Rakkhasas, (saying:) “May all Rakkhasas dwell in Giridīpa . . ” 78. The eager Yakkhas ran to Giridīpa, like thirsty people in summer to a river; they all entered it never to return; the Sage (then) restored the island to its former place.] What kind of merciful and compassionate Buddha was he to indulge in these cruelties? The monkish chroniclers betrayed the Buddha by ascribing these sorts of uncivilized and criminal acts to the Buddha, shame on them!
When Buddha found another island, with low ground and high ground, with many various aspects, beautifully adorned by rivers, mountains, and lakes, the island of Giri, most similar to the country of Laṅkā, and also closed to Lanka, What is the purpose of chasing them to that said Island, Instead of that, He would have choose that said Island for his any purposes as It is already vacant with similar condition in same area ??
