On the event of the International Human Rights week(Dec 9th - 16th), GTO(Global Tamil Organisation) organised a walkathon at Chennai Marina beach. 

 

Every year december 10th is observed as a International Human Rights day by the UN(United Nations), for this the GTO today (Dec 9th) organised a walkathon, which started morning 08:00 AM, near Anna Square, flagged off by Prof. Saraswathi,TGTE(Transnational Govt of Tamil Eelam) Member of Parliment. 

 

Many colleges students participated in the event and more notably from Presidency College, MOP Vaishnava, Sree Sastha College of Engineering, they had pluck cards and banners in their hands during the walkathon and raised slogans which voiced out their support for human rights, and condemned the recent attack on Yaazhpanam University students by the Srilankan military during their silent and peaceful candle light observation of the remembrance of their 'Martyr's Day' within their university.

 

The students were holding banners which highlighted a number of issues and raised slogans which include in support of freedom of expression in the form of Cartoon, Social networks like Twitter and Facebook and against Domestic violence on women, female infanticide, death penalty and caste discrimination. Lastly the UN was criticized for not playing an active role in protecting the innocent citizens in the final days of the war in Srilanka and not taking up active roles in monitoring rehabilitation of the Tamils within Srilanka. 

 

The walkathon ended peacefully near the Gandhi Statue in the Marina beach road. In this modern era where human rights and its values are supposed to be held high, it is unfortunate that these values are still being denied to the less privileged. 

 

GTO(Global Tamil Organisation) has organised this event to spread awareness of the fundamental human rights which every human born in this planet deserves by birth.

ஜக்கியநாடுகள் சபையால் ஒவ்வொருவருடம் இன்று(Dec 9th) சர்வதேச மனித உரிமைகள் தினமாக அனுஸ்டிக்கப்படுகிறது.இதையொட்டி இன்று உலகத் தமிழ் அமைப்பு நடைபயணம் ஒன்றை ஏற்பாடு செய்திருந்தது.நாடுகடந்த அரசின் உறுப்பினர் பேராசிரியர் சரஸ்வதியின் கொடி அசைப்புடன் காலை 8 மணிக்கு அண்ணாசதுக்கத்திற்கு அண்மையில் இருந்து இந்த நடைபயணம் ஆரம்பமாகியது..

 

Presidency College, MOP Vaishnava, Sree Sastha College of Engineering போன்ற கல்லூரிகளை சேர்ந்த பலநூற்றுக்கணக்கான கல்லூரி மாணவர்கள் இந்த நடைபயணத்தில் பங்கேற்றிருந்தனர்.கைகளில் சுலோக அட்டைகளையும்,பதாதைகளையும் ஏந்தியவாறும் மனித உரிமைகளுக்கு ஆதரவாகவும்,மாவீரர் நினைவுகளை அமைதியாக தீபம் ஏற்றி அனுஸ்டித்த யாழ்பல்கலைக்கழக மாணவர்களுக்கு எதிராக இலங்கை அரசபடைகளின் மிலேச்சத்தனமான தாக்குதலை கண்டித்தும் சுலோகங்களை எழுப்பியவாறு மாணவர்கள் இந்த நடைபயணத்தில் கலந்துகொண்டனர்.

 

பல்வேறு பிரச்சினைகளை பிரதிபலித்த பதாதைகளை மாணவர்கள் கைகளில் ஏந்தி இருந்தனர் அத்துடன் சாதியப் பாகுபாடுகள்,மரணதண்டனை,பெண்சிசுக்கொலை,பெண்களுக்கெதிரான குடும்பவன்முறைகைகள்,காட்டூன்கள் மற்றும் முகப்புத்தகம் டிவிட்டர் போன்ற சமூக வலைத்தலங்கள் வழியிலான கருத்து சுதந்திரம் போன்றவற்றுக்கு ஆதரவான கோசங்களை எழுப்பியவாறும் மாணவர்கள் கலந்துகொண்டனர்....

 

இறுதியாக இலங்கையில் தமிழர்களின் புணர்வாழ்வு நடவடிக்கைகளை கண்காணிப்பதில் பொறுப்பான பங்கு வகிக்காத, இலங்கையின் இறுதி யுத்த நாட்களில் அப்பாவி மக்களை காப்பதில் அசமந்தமாக இருந்த ஜநாவின் செயற்பாடு கண்டிக்கப்பட்டது...

 

மெரீனா கடற்கரை வீதியில் காந்தி சிலைக்கு அண்மையில் இந்த நடைபயணம் அமைதியாக நிறைவுக்கு வந்தது..இந்த நவீன சகாப்தத்தில் மனித உரிமைகளும் அவற்றின் பெறுமதிகளும் உயர்வாக மதிக்கப்படவேண்டியவையாக இருக்கின்றன.துரதிஸ்ட வசமாக இவற்றிற்கு இன்னமும் உரிய முக்கியத்துவம் கொடுக்கப்படாமல் மறுக்கப்படுகிறது..

 

இந்த பூமியில் பிறந்த ஒவ்வொரு மனிதனதும் பிறப்புரிமையாகிய அடிப்படை மனித உரிமைகள் பற்றிய விழிப்புணர்வை பரப்பும் முகமாகவே உலகத் தமிழ் அமைப்பு இந்த நடைபயணத்தை ஒழுங்கு செய்திருந்தது..
