டொரண்டோவை சேர்ந்த ஹாக்கி நடுவர் சிறுவர்களிடம் தகாத முறையில் பாலியல் உறவு கொண்டதாகவும், அவர்களிடம் அருவருக்கத்தக்க முறையில் பாலியல் குறித்து பேசியதாகவும் கைது செய்யப்பட்டார்.

 

இந்த சம்பவம் 1968 முதல் 1978 வரையிலான பத்து வருடங்களில் Michael Dimmick  என்ற ஹாக்கி நடுவராக பணிபுரிந்த இவர், இவரிடம் பயிற்சி பெற வந்த 6 முதல் 12 வரையிலான சிறுவர், மற்றும் சிறுமிகளுக்கு செக்ஸ் டார்ச்சர் கொடுத்ததாக கைது செய்யப்பட்டு சிறையில் அடைக்கப்பட்டார். இவருக்கு தற்போது வயது 71 ஆகும். இவர் கிட்டத்தட்ட 1000 முறை இவ்வாறாக தவறான உறவில் ஈடுபட்டதாக அதிர்ச்சியான குற்றச்சாட்டு கூறப்பட்டுள்ளது.

 

இவர் மீது 12 விதமான பிரிவுகளில் வழக்கு தொடுக்கப்பட்டு விசாரணை நடந்து வந்தது. இவர் இதுவரை திருமணமே செய்யாதவர் என்றும் சிறுவர்களிடம் மட்டுமே உறவு கொள்வதில் விருப்பம் உள்ளவர் என்றும் அவருடைய நண்பர்கள் கூறுகின்றனர். இவர் மீதான வழக்கு தொடர்ந்து விசாரணை செய்யப்பட்டு வருகிறது.

Former hockey coach Michael Dimmick rewarded boys for sex acts, court hears

TORONTO - Former hockey coach and Scouts Canada assistant Michael Dimmick fondled and performed oral sex on a young player and then molested his younger brother, the alleged victim told court Friday.

The now 51-year-old man testified that Dimmick met him when he was then six or seven years old while he was playing for an Etobicoke-area hockey league and his father was coaching. Dimmick was a referee in 1968.

The witness testified that he bottled up the years of abuse Ñ ranging from being molested at his home twice a week to "hundreds of times" at his parents' Muskoka cottage Ñ for almost 40 years until 2009 when he told police.

The abuse stopped once he hit puberty. He became a promiscuous, rampant alcohol and drug user who set out to prove his manhood, court heard.

"I tried to numb myself," said the witness, who submerged feelings of shame, fear and guilt. "I couldn't talk about the secret."

The divorced man endured years of alcoholism and drug abuse and survived two suicide attempts before he revealed the abuse. He has been sober since, he said.

The prosecution alleges that when Dimmick stopped molesting him, he then turned to the witness' brother, who's two years younger, and two of their pals.

In her opening statement to Justice Mary Lou Benotto, Crown attorney Kelly Simpson said Dimmick committed sexual crimes after winning the trust of the siblings' parents.

Dimmick, now 75, has pleaded not guilty to the 14 sexual offences involving four boys aged six to 14 years old between Sept. 1, 1968 and Dec. 31, 1978.

The alleged victims' identities are covered by a publication ban.

The witness said his father was befriended by Dimmick, who began assisting him in coaching his team and helping with his Cub Scout group as well.

Dimmick transported the witness to hockey several times a week where he sexually abused the boy in the car. The boy's busy parents were shuttling their older and younger sons to their games.

The witness said Dimmick would put him and his brother to sleep, reading them bedtime stories.

As a trusted family friend, Dimmick was also invited to their cottage in Muskoka, where he helped the father renovate. He once tried to perform sodomy on the boy during a sleepover, court heard.

It was extremely painful and he recalled "yelping" when Dimmick started but he immediately stopped "out of fear of being caught," the witness said

The trial resumes Monday.
