லோகப்பாசாதம் கட்டிடத்திற்கு சக்க கடவுள் [Sakka god] விசுவகர்மனை [Vishvakarma or Visvakamma] செங்கற்களைத் தயாரிக்க அனுப்பினார். இவர் இந்து தொன்மவியலின் படி தேவலோகத்தின் சிற்பி ஆவார். இவர் தேவதச்சன், தேவசிற்பி என்றும் அறியப்படுகிறார். பல்வேறு அளவுகளில் தங்கப் பலகைகள் கிடைத்தன. மக்கள் செம்பையும் கண்டுபிடித்தனர். விலைமதிப்பற்ற கற்களும் கிடைத்தன. வெள்ளியும் ஏராளமாகக் கிடைத்தன. முத்துக்கள் கரை ஒதுங்கின. இதனால் மகா தூபிக்குத் தேவையான அனைத்து பொருட்களும் இலவசமாகக் கிடைத்தன. இது முழுக்க முழுக்க தூய கற்பனை, இதற்கும் மனித வரலாற்றுக்கும் சம்பந்தம் இல்லை. அது மட்டும் அல்ல, மகா தூபியின் கட்டுமானத்தைப் பார்வையிட வந்த தேரர்களின் எண்ணிக்கை மட்டும் 29 ஆம் அத்தியாயத்தின்படி சுமார் 1.37 மில்லியன் ஆகும். மேலும், விருப்பு வெறுப்புகளைக் கைவிட்டவர்களில் 960 மில்லியன் பேர் இருந்தனர் என்றும் கூறுகிறது. இன்றைய இலங்கை மக்கள் தொகை கூட முப்பது மில்லியனுக்கு மேல் இருக்காது என்பது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.
அப்படி எனறால், மக்களின் எண்ணிக்கை இலங்கையில் இரண்டாயிரம் ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்பு எவ்வளவு என்று நீங்களே ஊக்கியுங்கள்? ஏன் இந்த பித்தலாட்டம் ? மகாநாமாவைத் தான் கேட்கவேண்டும்?
இன்னும் இரண்டையும் உங்களிடமே விட்டு வைக்கிறேன். முதலாவது புத்தர் தனக்கு உதவ அழைப்பது இந்து தெய்வங்களையே [உதாரணம் இந்திரன், கிருஷ்ணர் .... மற்றும் இப்ப தேவலோக சிற்பி விசுவகர்மன்], ஆனால் இன்று நடப்பது என்ன ? புத்தர் தமிழர்கள் வாழும் இடங்களில் பலவந்தமாக நுழைகிறார், முளைக்கிறார், இந்து வழிபாடுகளை மூடுகிறார், தடுக்கிறார் ..... இரண்டாவது, தேவலோகத்தின் சிற்பி மூலமும், தானாகவே அனைத்து விலை உயர்ந்த கட்டிட பொருட்களும் கூட வந்தன. அப்படி இருந்தும், இவ்வாறு சிறப்புமிக்க அந்த லோகப்பாசாதம் தீயினால் பலமுறைஅழிக்கப்பட்டு கல் தூண்கள் மட்டுமே இன்று எஞ்சியுள்ளன என்பது எதைச் சொல்லுகிறது ?
அது மட்டும் அல்ல, முப்பதாயிரம் பிக்குகள் அலெக்ஸாண்ட்ரியாவில் இருந்து (கிரீஸ்) வந்ததாகவும் கூறப்படுகிறது. நானூற்று அறுபதாயிரம் பிக்குகள் பெர்சியாவிலிருந்து வந்ததாகவும் கூறப்படுகிறது. கிரேக்கர்கள் மற்றும் பெர்சியர்களிடையே பௌத்தம் ஒருபோதும் செல்வாக்கு செலுத்தவில்லை என்பது உண்மையான வரலாறு. அதுமட்டும் அல்ல, இரண்டாயிரம் ஆண்டுகளுக்கும் முன்பு, ஏன் இன்று கூட, இத்தனை ஆட்கள் வர வசதி உண்டா என்பதை நீங்களே கூறுங்கள்? இருப்பினும், இவை உண்மையான மனித வரலாற்றுக்கு சம்பந்தம் இல்லை என்றே நினைக்கிறன்.

Part: 90 / Appendix – Summary of the Mahavamsa / Chapter 01 to Chapter 37
Sakka god sent Visvakamma to prepare the bricks. Visvakamma is a legendary builder for the celestial world. He came here to prepare bricks. There happened to occur golden slabs in various sizes. People found copper too. So did the precious stones. Silver too was found in abundance. Pearls washed ashore. Thus all the materials needed for the Mahathupa became available free. This is a pure imagination, and it has no human historical relevance.
The number of Theras came to visit the construction of the Great Thupa is about 1.37 million as per the chapter 29. Furthermore, there were 960 millions of those who gave up likes and dislikes. Even the present day population Ceylon may not be greater than thirty millions. It is also stated that thirty thousand Bhikkhus came from Alexandria (Greece). It is also claimed that four hundred and sixty thousand Bikkhus came from Persia. The Buddhism never had influence among the Greeks and the Persians. The above numbers are mentioned to show the extent of the over statements made in the Mahavamsa. It has, however, no human historical relevance. The construction of the Relic Chamber was with so many miraculous happenings.
The relic is enshrined in the already constructed Relic Chamber. As per Reference 9, Buddha’s remains were divided into eight equal portions by a Brahmin Drona to be given to eight claimants. Maurayan king, Asoka, later recovered seven of the original eight portions, and divided into 84,000 portions, and constructed 84,000 Stupas over each portion. Whether he had the technology to divide a very small amount into 84,000 portions is a moot point. However, the legend is that Asoka could not recover the portion, which Naga king had in his possession, but as per the chapter 31 of the Mahavamsa, Dutthagamani was able get the portion that Nagas had. It is to indicate that Dutthagamani is mightier than Asoka is as Dutthagamani achieved what Asoka could not. The relic portion so obtained is enshrined in the Relic Chamber. There are so many legends and miraculous events, which have no human historical relevance.
Then, at last, Duttha Gamni went to the Tusita Heaven. There are so many fabulous and miraculous events, which merits no discussion as none had any human historical relevance.
