வேலைவாய்ப்புக்காக வெளிநாடுகளுக்குச் சென்ற   இலங்கையர்களில் 1043 பேர்  கடந்த மூன்று வருடங்களில்  உயிரிழந்திருப்பதாக வெளிநாட்டு வேலைவாய்ப்பு பணியகம்  தெரிவித்துள்ளது.

கடந்த மூன்று வருடங்களில் தொழில்வாய்ப்புகளுக்காக இலங்கையர்கள் 29  நாடுகளுக்கு சென்றிருந்தார்கள். அவர்களுள் இந்த 1043 பேரும் உள்ளடங்குவதாக  அந்த பணியகத்தின் பிரதி  முகாமையாளர் ஜெகத் படுகெதர தெரிவித்தார்.  

வேலைவாய்ப்புக்களுக்காக வருடாந்தம் வெளிநாடுகளுக்கு சென்று  கொடுமைக்குள்ளாகும் இலங்கையர்கள் தொடர்பில் வினவிய  போதே அவர் இதனை கேசரிக்கு தெரிவித்தார்.  

தொழில் நிமித்தம் வெளிநாடுகளுக்கு செல்வோரில் பலர் விபத்துக்கள் , தற்கொலைசெய்து கொள்ளல் ,இயற்கை மரணம்  ,   அந்த நாடுகளின் சட்டத்தை மீறி செயற்பட்டமை தொடர்பில்  தண்டனை வழங்கப்படல்  உள்ளிட்ட காரணங்களினாலேயே  அதிகளவிலான இலங்கையர்கள் வெளிநாடுகளில்  உயிரிழந்துள்ளனர். 

இவ்வருடத்தின் இது வரையான காலப்பகுதியில் 194 இலங்கை  தொழிலாளர்கள் உயிரிழந்துள்ளனர். அத்துடன், கடந்த 2018 இல் 239  பேரும் , 2017 இல் 291 பேரும் , 2016 ஆம் ஆண்டில்  295 பேரும் தொழில் நிமித்தம் வெளிநாடுகளுக்கு சென்று உயிரிழந்துள்ளதாக  வெளிநாட்டு வேலைவாய்ப்பு பணியகம் கூட்டிக்காட்டியுள்ளது. 

அந்த வகையில் கடந்த 2016  ஆம் ஆண்டு தொடக்கம் 2019  ஆம்  ஆண்டு வரையான காலப்பகுதியில் சவுதி அரேபியாவிற்கு சென்ற  362 பேரும் , குவைத்திற்கு சென்ற 214 பேரும் கட்டாருக்கு சென்ற  133  பேரும், ஐக்கிய அரபு இராச்சியத்திற்கு சென்ற 125 பேரும் ,  தென்கொரியாவில் 32 பேரும் உயிரிழந்துள்ளனர். தொழில் அனுபவம் குறைந்த தொழிலாளர்களே இவ்வாறு அதிகளவில் உயிரிழந்துள்ளனர். 

இவ்வாறு வெளிநாடுகளுக்கு சென்று உழைப்பவர்கள்  மொத்த தேசிய வருமானத்தில்  7.9 வீத பங்களிப்பினை வழங்கு கின்றனர். கடந்த 2018 ஆம் ஆண்டில் மாத்திரம் இவ்வாறு வெளிநாடுகளுக்கு சென்று   தொழில் புரியும்  இலங்கையரினால்  மாத்திரம் சுமார்  70 இலட்சம்  அமெரிக்க டொலர்; அன்னியச்செலவாணி  வருவாய்  கிடைக்கப்பெற்றுள்ளது.  

வெளிநாடுகளில் வேலைவாய்ப்பின் நிமித்தம் செல்வோர் அனைவரும் இலங்கை வெளிநாட்டு வேலைவாய்ப்பு பணியகம் ஊடாக செல்லும் பட்சத்தில் காப்புறுதி பெற்று செல்வதற்கான  வாய்ப்புக்கள் ஏற்படுத்தி கொடுக்கப்படுகின்றன.  

அவர்கள் வெளிநாடுகளில் வேலை செய்யும் காலப்பகுதியில்  ஏற்படும் உயரிழப்புக்களையடுத்து அவர்களது உறவினர்களுக்கு  இழப்பீட்டு தொகையை வழங்குவதற்கான ஏற்பாடுகளும் வேலைவாய்ப்பு பணியகத்தினால் மேற்கொள்ளப்பட்டுள்ளது.  ஆகவே தொழில் நிமித்தல் வெளிநாடுகளுக்கு செல்வோர் தமது  கடவுச்சீட்டில் காப்புறுதி செய்து கொள்வது அவசியமானதாகும்.

3Q posts 2.7% growth

Sri Lanka’s economy grew by 2.7% in the third quarter of 2019, recovering somewhat from the Easter Sunday attacks that slashed the previous quarter growth to a five-year low of 1.6%, and showing stronger expansion in the industry and services segment, the Census and Statistics Department said yesterday. In the corresponding quarter of last year, GDP grew by 3.5%. 

The economy grew at its slowest pace in more than five years from April to June 2019, with 2Q showing only a 1.6% gain, slowing from a growth rate of 3.7% the first quarter. However, the impact on some segments including the accommodation, food and beverage service activities were slower by 7.5% when compared to the third quarter of 2018, data showed. Agriculture also failed to show a significant growth despite better weather seen in 2019, the Census and Statistics (CSD) said.

Quarterly earnings dip 9.6% to Rs. 45.8 b

First Capital Research yesterday said September quarter earnings declined by 9.6% year-on-year (YoY) to Rs. 45.8 billion for 264 companies, but still showed better performance than previous quarters. 

September quarter earnings dipped by 9.6% YoY to Rs. 45.8 billion, primarily due to sluggish performance in Insurance (-48% YoY), Consumer Services (-495% YoY), Capital Goods (-39% YoY) and Food, Beverage and Tobacco (-12% YoY) sectors, a report released by First Capital Research said.  However, earnings upside was witnessed in Material (108% YoY), Consumer, Durable and Apparel (13600% YoY) and Energy (646% YoY) sectors negating the negative performance in the above-mentioned sectors.

When the Daily Mirror questioned whether the Bureau is aware of the complaint lodged at the Presidential Commission of Inquiry (PCoI) to investigate large scale corruption which happened between 2015-2018 government periods, Mr Muthukumarana said that the Bureau was not aware of any such complaint lodged with the PCoI.
