To Whom It May Concern:

PLEASE STOP THE GENOCIDE OF TAMILS IN SRILANKA

I would like to kindly request you to take an urgent action to stop the genocide of Tamils in Sri Lanka and bring an immediate ceasefire to save the innocent civilians lives.

More than 50,000 Srilankan army have surrounded the Tamils densely populated areas in Mullaitivu, Sri Lanka. Their continuous bombing and artillery shelling are killing the defenceless and innocent Tamil People. Although they call it ‘the war on Tamil tigers’, it is clearly proven that it is a genocide of Tamils. More than 300 civilians have lost their lives, more than 1000 are severely injured just in the last few days and 400,000 Tamil civilians are being displaced daily. What come under attacks by the army mainly are safety zones, hospitals and other civilians populated areas.

Artillery, multi-barrel and mortar fire by the Sri Lankan army towards safety zones (set by the government) in Mullaitivu district is described as ‘the most inhumane genocidal attacks on civilian population’.

Medical authorities said the situations are beyond the control as the hospitals have come under attacks and patients are helpless without medical attendance.

Please take innocent people's lives into serious consideration. Tamils are undergoing extremely critical situation in terms of safety, food and medicine – the basics for a human.

Innocent Tamils in the North East of Sri Lanka are being arrested and tortured by the Srilankan army. The government of Sri Lanka has ignored and expelled the human right organizations and the International community to engage in this genocide, without paying attention to anyone.

It is extremely very sad that the international community including human rights organizations and the rest of the world are closing their eyes and not taking any serious actions to save the lives of the innocents and to bring peace to Tamils.

We, the millions of Tamils around the world, kindly, ask you to take immediate actions to send a Human Rights Organization or any International community representative officers to the Tamils displaced areas in Mullaitivu to see their struggles in person. More significantly, we want you to set particular areas as safety zones and to instruct the government not to attack them. In order to take all the peace related actions, a ceasefire must be brought between both Tamil tigers and the government as soon as possible.

We the Tamils in this Country, urge your good officers to do your part to save the lives that are being lost daily. Tamils around the world have faith in you as you would stand by us. Please understand the sufferings and the hardships of the Tamils in Sri Lanka.

Yours Sincerely,

நன்றி.. இவ்வாறு வித்தியாசமான அமைப்பில் பல கடிதங்களை இணைத்தால் மிகவும் உதவியாக இருக்கும்.

Subject: More than three hundred Tamil civilians killed yesterday in one day, Please STOP Genocide against Tamils in Sri Lanka

To Whom it may concern

Yesterday, Sri Lankan Government killed more than three hundred Tamil Civilians in the 'Safety Zone' and more than hundreds wounded in the Tamil areas [1]. Only few media reported about Tamil casualties since Sri Lankan Government blocked all the media in the Tamil areas. Sri Lankan Government and its military and paramilitary are well known for extra judicial killings and mass murders. In some instances, Sri Lankan government keep the survivors under tight control in order to hide the evidence of massacres [7]. Please bring your kind focus to this inhuman aggression against Tamils by the Sri Lankan government.

In recent days, Government of Sri Lanka escalated areal bombing, shelling, and ground troop movements in Tamil areas. 22 Tamils have been killed and more than 60 Tamils severely wounded on January 25. Apart from these killings, Government of Sri Lanka continue abductions and killings of Tamils in Jaffna, Trinco, Batticaloa and Colombo.

According to TamilNet daily reporting [1], in average 5 Tamils have been either disappeared or killed by the Sri Lankan government military or paramilitary in the Sri Lankan army tightly controlled areas. In the recent days, in average, more than 50 Tamils killed and wounded each day by the Sri Lankan Government.

Since Government of Sri Lanka expelled the UN, NGOs and International journalists from the Tamil living areas, the International media have difficulties in bringing these human tragedies. Sri Lankan Government expelled the International media and mute the local media because it wants to execute the killings spree without any witness.

Since 1948, according to TCHR, more than 80,000 Tamils have been killed by the Sri Lankan government and more than 40% of the Tamils have been eliminated from their homeland [3]. Tamils democratically decided to free from Sri Lanka in 1977 [4]. Due to lack of pressure on the Sri Lankan government, Tamils still facing Genocide.

In the current situation, Tamils are fearing that Chemmani type of mass killing will take place in the next coming weeks. Sri Lankan government killed more than eight hundred Tamils only in Chemmani mass graves [5] in Jaffna most of them killed between 1995 and 1998 after Sri Lankan Government military invasion in Jaffna in 1995.

When you have time, please read the following comprehensive document that well expose 60 year history of Sri Lankan State terrorism.

Dear Madam/Sir,

re:Please Stop the Genocide of Sri Lankan Tamils.

My family is still living in Sri Lanka, Visvamadu where the intense shelling and bombing continues. I have no way of getting news about them.

This is the latest situation in Sri Lanka, Mullaithivu District.

In a scene of carnage of untold proportion on civilian targets hit by hundreds of Sri Lanka Army fired artillery shells, more than 300 people have died and several hundreds are bleeding to death within the last 24 hours, amidst pouring rain inside the 'saftey zone' declared by the Colombo government. Houses and vehicles burn for a stretch of three km between Va’l’lipunam Kaa’li temple and Moongkilaa’ru towards Paranthan road, reports from Vanni said on Monday. Unattended bodies and injured people unable to move are lying around everywhere, while a remaining doctor fled and helpless ICRC officials virtually cried at the scene from their bunkers, TamilNet correspondent said.

This is one report from a Doctor:

"The world is silently witnessing one of the worst massacres of helpless civilians in contemporary times. These civilians know no crime other than not knowing where to go. While the genocidal military of the Colombo government is on the killing spree, India and the international community sadistically expect the civilians to come running out into the hands of their killers. Either way they expect them to perish," a doctor, while attending casualties at the Udaiyaarkaddu hospital, said on Monday.

"The excuse of LTTE using civilians a human shield is a farce," the doctor said.

Please insist the Sri Lankan government to stop the killing of the innocent Tamil civilians immediately.

Thanks for your attention on this matter.

Dear Sir/Madam,

In light of the recent events taking place in Sri Lanka I feel the need to express my deepest regrets that I don’t see any international assistance been offered to the suffering civilians in the midst of this humanitarian crisis in the north of Sri Lanka. In the past few days there have been independent reports on civilian video cameras posted on the internet showing the dire need for intervention. There seems to be more than a thousand people literally bleeding on the streets with no medical assistance.

Canada has in the past been the peace keepers; we even assisted in the end of WWII with the invasion of Normandy. Who says that Canada can’t solve this crisis? We can as a nation join together and create some pressure onto the government of Sri Lanka to lift its ban on Humanitarian help and independent journalism. The current media ban in Sri Lanka is restricting aid agencies from entering war torn areas and restricting the international community from acquiring the truth of the effects of these recent massacres. This humanitarian crisis is crying out for our help, these people are suffering and we as a nation that holds more than 800 000 Sri Lankans from the north should not shrug our shoulders at this matter. I kindly ask that you make the effort to step in and assist these people.

As per the recent massacres involving the people in Sri Lanka, I feel the need as a human to inform you of these events. Below are some none biased links that will allow you , the opportunity to view the reality of events occurring in the north of Sri Lanka. This crisis seems to have moved beyond a civil war, it has now begun to be a humanitarian crisis of people with no assistance and left to bleed to death on the streets. My right as a Proud Canadian make our dignitaries aware of this reality and wish to see some action been taken by our nation.
