20 Km Human Chain in Mumbai to draw attention of Genocide in Sri Lanka.

[ Sunday, 01 March 2009, 09:37.58 PM GMT +05:30 ]

Thamil Saadhi , the co ordination committee of Tamils living in Mumbai organised a mammoth Human Chain to draw public attention of Sri Lankan Genocide.

More than 40,000 ( Forty thousand people ) have participated along the route from Mulund to King circle in Mumbai on Sunday 1st March 2009 at 3pm. All Tamils cutting party lines and political affiliations had joined the human chain which started at both ends i.e from Mulund and King Circle. Humanchain commenced with waving of green flags by two school children at both ends.

Women, school children, poets, writers and social workers have joined the human chain and stood for three hours. Many posters, placards and other visual material were displayed along the entire route. Children were holding placards like “ DO NOT KILL TAMILS, STOP GENOCIDE IN SRILANKA, STOP WAR START PEACE NEGOTIATIONS ETC., “

The human chain ended peacefully around 6 pm evening. Mumbai floating populations in lacs have keenly read the posters, spoken to agitating Tamilians and understood the misery of Tamilians.

The Human Chain was organised under banner of “ THAMIL SAATHI” .
