புதுவருடத்தை முன்னிட்டு இன்று திங்கட்கிழமையும் நாளையும் தாக்குல் நடவடிக்கைகளை நிறுத்தி வைப்பதாக சிறிலங்கா அரசாங்கம் அறிவித்திருக்கின்ற போதிலும் நேற்று நள்ளிரவு முதல் 'மக்கள் பாதுபாப்பு வலய' பகுதிகள் மீது கடுமையான எறிகணைத் தாக்குதல்களை சிறிலங்கா படையினர் மேற்கொண்டுள்ளனர்.

நேற்று நள்ளிரவு முதல் இன்று காலை 7:00 மணி வரையில் நடத்தப்பட்ட தாக்குதல்களில் 37 அப்பாவி தமிழர்கள் படுகொலை செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளதுடன் 112 பேர் படுகாயமடைந்துள்ளனர்.

தொடர்ந்தும் எறிகணைத் தாக்குதல்களை சிறிலங்கா படையினர் நடத்தி வருவதாக புதினத்தின் வன்னி செய்தியாளர் தெரிவிக்கின்றார்.

தாக்குதல் நடவடிக்கைகளை மட்டுப்படுத்துமாறு சிறிலங்கா அரச தலைவர் படையினருக்கு நேரடியாகவே உத்தரவிட்டிருப்பதாக சிறிலங்கா அரச தரப்புச் செய்திகள் தெரிவிக்கின்ற போதிலும், நேற்று நள்ளிரவு 12:00 மணி முதல் தொடர்ச்சியான எறிகணைத் தாக்குதல்களை மக்கள் அதிகமாகவுள்ள பகுதிகளை நோக்கி சிறிலங்கா படையினர் மேற்கொண்டுள்ளனர்.

இன்று காலை முதல் புதுக்குடியிருப்பில் உள்ள விடுதலைப் புலிகளின் முன்னரண் பகுதி மீது தொடர்ச்சியான தாக்குதல்களை தொடங்கியுள்ள சிறிலங்கா படையினர், பொதுமக்கள் அடைக்கலம் புகுந்திருக்கும் பகுதிகளை நோக்கியும் வழமைபோலவே எறிகணைத் தாக்குதல்களைப் பெருமளவுக்கு மேற்கொண்டு வருகின்றனர்.

பொதுமக்கள் வசிக்கும் பகுதிகளை நோக்கி நள்ளிரவு முதல் எறிகணை, பல்குழல் வெடிகணை, மோட்டார் பீரங்கி மற்றும் தொலைதூர துப்பாக்கி தாக்குதல்களை சிறிலங்கா படையினர் நடத்தி வருவதாக புதினம் செய்தியாளர் தெரிவிக்கின்றார்.

இன்று காலை 7.00 மணிவரையில் நடைபெற்ற தாக்குதல்களில் 37 தமிழர்கள் பரிதாபமாகக் கொல்லப்பட்டுள்ள அதேவேளையில் 112 பேர் படுகாயமடைந்த நிலையில் அங்குள்ள பல்வேறு மருத்துவமனைகளுக்குக் கொண்டுவரப்பட்டுள்ளனர்.

தாக்குதல்கள் தொடர்வதால் இந்தத் தொகை மேலும் அதிகரிக்கலாம் என புதினத்தின் செய்தியாளர் தெரிவிக்கின்றார்.

தொடர்ச்சியாகப் பெய்துவரும் மழை காரணமாக பாதுகாப்புக்காக அமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ள பதுங்குகுழிகள் அனைத்தும் வெள்ளக்காடாகக் காணப்படும் நிலையில் சிறிலங்கா படையினர் மேற்கொண்டுள்ள இந்த அகோர தாக்குதல்களில் இருந்து உயிர் தப்பிக்கொள்ள முடியாது மக்கள் சிதறியோடுவதைத்தான் இன்று அதிகாலையிலேயே காண முடிந்தது.

இதேவேளையில் புதுக்குடியிருப்புப் பகுதியில் உள்ள பச்சைப்புல்மோட்டைப் பகுதியில் விடுதலைப் புலிகளின் முன்னரண் பகுதியை நோக்கி படையினர் இன்று அதிகாலை முதல் கடுமையான தாக்குதல்களை நடத்தியிருக்கின்றனர்.

இதனைத் தொடர்ந்து, விடுதலைப் புலிளும் எதிர்த்தாக்குதல்களை நடத்த மோதல்கள் தீவிரமடைந்திருக்கின்றன.

இன்று அதிகாலை முதல் தாக்குதல்கள் நிறுத்தப்படும் என சிறிலங்கா அரசாங்கம் அறிவித்திருந்த போதிலும், களநிலைமைகளில் எவ்வித மாற்றங்களும் இல்லாமல் சிறிலங்கா படைத்தரப்பினர் தாக்குதல்களை தொடங்கியிருப்பது தாக்குதல்களை நிறுத்திக்கொள்வதற்கு அவர்கள் தயாராக இல்லை என்பதைத்தான் காட்டுவதாக உள்ளது.

A dubious ceasefire – 37 civilians killed in the so called 'ceasefire period'

The Sri Lanka Government announced a 48 hours ceasefire starting from last midnight. As the Tamil Diaspora perceived, it is proved to be a dubious one.

From midnight 12.00 till morning 8.00, within 8 hours, 37 civilians were killed and more than 57 were injured by the SLA attack, said Tamil National Reporter, reporting from the safe zone.

Most of the deaths and wounds were due to gunshot injuries and RPG attack.

He further said, while he is talking itself he could hear RPG fire. The people there have only hope on Tamil Diaspora. They believe only Tamil Diaspora’s action can save them.

Many observers of Sri Lankan politics expressed their doubts on the implementation of the ceasefire in the absence of neutral observers and free media. The Sri Lankan Government that was stressed by the international community’s insistence on humanitarian ceasefire finally agreed for a 48 hour ceasefire to divert the demand for permanent ceasefire.

The unprecedented Tamil Diaspora youth uprising and the solidarity shown by the Diaspora community to the Tamil cause compelled the international community to take some action to control the Tamil Diaspora protests.

The international media, especially the Indian media which suppressed the human catastrophe in the war tone northern Sri Lanka, were in a hurry to inform the 48 hours ceasefire.

President Rajapakse made mockery on the destitute civilians who are between life and death, by saying that the ceasefire is for the entrapped civilians to celebrate the New Year that falls on Tuesday.

The Sri Lankan Government was trying all its diplomacy to sabotage the Tamil Diaspora uprising and their freedom struggle. Declaring a 48 hours cessation of hostilities is one out of that. One Tamil sympathizer told Tamil National, that through this move, Sri Lanka is trying to engage in or use a very diplomatic warfare against Tamils of Tamilnadu and Tamil Diaspora. “It is their cunningness, and we should not fall an easy prey. Until we get our demands, we should not give up any peaceful demonstration. We have to keep the momentum going,” he said.

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today while welcoming the declaration of a two-day ceasefire by the Government of Sri Lanka to allow emergency humanitarian aid to reach thousands of civilians caught up in its conflict with separatist rebel Tamil forces in the north of the country, said that the Government's two-day truce was less than the several-day humanitarian pause he had been advocating.
