Call your USA Senators TODAY!

Call your Senators TODAY to ask for fair war crimes investigations!

Thanks to your hard work this past summer, 58 Members of Congress asked Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to call for an independent, international investigation into Sri Lanka's war crimes. Unfortunately, she has yet to do so. But there is still hope. In the more influential Senate, Senator Sherrod Brown and Senator Richard Burr have initiated another letter urging Secretary Clinton to call for this war crimes investigation.

We need YOUR help to obtain as many Senate signatures as possible. 58 Members of Congress have already joined us in demanding justice for Sri Lanka's Tamils. Now let's aim to obtain even more signatures in the Senate!

Please contact your Senators today as the deadline ends tomorrow. Calling your Senators is easy and takes only a few minutes.

1. Find your two Senators and their D.C. phone numbers by putting in your zip code here

2. Tell them your name, that you are a constituent in the Senator's state, and that you are calling on behalf of People for Equality and Relief in Lanka (PEARL) regarding war crimes in Sri Lanka.

3. Ask to speak to the Foreign Affairs Legislative Aide.

4. Tell the aide (or his/her voicemail) your name, that you are a constituent in the Senator's state, and that you are calling on behalf of People for Equality and Relief in Lanka (PEARL).

5. Tell the aide that you want your Senator to sign Senators Brown and Burr's letter to Secretary Clinton requesting an independent, international investigation into war crimes in Sri Lanka. Explain that human rights organizations stress the importance of having impartial and independent investigations in Sri Lanka.

6. Ask the aide for his/her email so you can email him/her Senators Brown and Burr's letter to Secretary Clinton (downloadable here), as well as their letter calling on their colleagues to investigate Sri Lanka's war crimes (downloadable here).

7. Let us know that you called here so we can keep track of potential signatories.

Your calls are the most important and effective way to ensure that the U.S. supports an effective and fair war crimes investigation. Please urge your family and friends to call their Senators as well.
