Take Action: Release the special UN report on Sr Lanka immediately

Take Action - Release the special UN report on Sr Lanka immediately

Please sign this petition urging Ban Ki Moon, UN Secretary-General to release the special report on Sri Lanka immediately.

Last June a panel of experts was appointed to advise the UN Secretary-General on ‘accountability issues’ in Sri Lanka. A few days ago they presented Ban Ki Moon with a report of their findings, immediately provoking the Sri Lankan government to dismiss the report as 'fundamentally flawed'.

Along with the reports from the prominent human rights organizations, we hope that this UN report is a precursor to an international investigation into allegations of war crimes committed by both sides during the final stages of the war.

Whilst we welcome the UNSG's office saying the panel's report will be made public, we are dismayed that the Sri Lankan government will be given prior access to the report - enabling them to prepare their own response to coincide with the release. Help us put pressure on Ban Ki Moon to release the report NOW by signing this petition.

Dear Sri Lanka Campaign supporter,

Thank you for your continued commitment to peace, justice and reconciliation in Sri Lanka.

In this mailing, we ask you to sign our new and urgent petition to Ban Ki Moon, urging him to make the report on Sri Lanka by the UN Panel of Experts public and without further delay. This is particularly important because of ongoing and ferocious attacks on human rights and pro-democracy advocates by the Sri Lankan regime and it's supporters.

SRI LANKA NEWS

Pro democracy supporters, human rights campaigners and journalists who question the Sri Lankan Regime's conduct have been targeted intensely in recent weeks. The Economist recently published an article highlighting the victimization strategy used by the Regime who are paranoid about western funded education and advocacy groups, in particular those that might have pushed for the UN inquiry to take place. The National Peace Council and Transparency International are two of many organizations facing verbal and physical intimidation.

Now more than ever, its vital we show solidarity with the brave individuals and organizations working toward a peaceful, just and democratic Sri Lanka.

Thanks for your support,

The Sri Lanka Campaign Team
