The latter victim died on the spot, while the first man fell unconscious with injuries, but the army thought both had died and dumped their bodies in a pit used for human waste. Selverajah Theenuka is a 10 year old Tamil Hindu girl, living in Pathmeni, Atchuvely on the Jaffna Peninsula. A 5th grade student, she was on her way to school last Tuesday (12th November 96). At 8.15, she was abducted by Sri Lankan soldiers and taken to the Sri Lankan army's Puttur V.C. camp. There, she was stripped and raped repeatedly by Sinhala soldiers. When they had finished, the soldiers released the child.[/size]

42 refugees fled to India in a boat. The boat was attacked by the navy near Analaitivu. 4 refugees were killed inside the boat. Navy captured the boat and brought to the shore. 2 more persons died among the injured.[/size]

29 lorry loads of food stuff going to Tamil people in Mullaitivu was destroyed in the rain last Monday as the Sinhalese army insisted on unloading it in the open ground to examine it. The food stuff composed of 18 lorry loads of flour, 10 lorry loads of sugar and one lorry load of rice had been purchased in Vavuniya by the Mullaitivu secretariat when heavy rain fell. The army manning the check point at Parayanalamkulam - the present entry point to Vanni - ordered the goods to be unloaded in the open grounds exposing it to the elements. The Sinhalese government has for the last 6 years imposed restrictions on food stuff to Tamil areas that are not under its control.[/size]

Sri Lankan police commandos of the Special Task Force arrived at Bar road in Batticaloa, shortly after a Tamil guerrilla attack killed four policemen there.
