புத்தர் துறவியாக மாற முடிவு செய்தபோது, அனோமா நதிக்கரையில் வெட்டப்பட்ட புத்தரின் தலைமுடியைப் பயன்படுத்தி, தேவர்களின் மன்னரான சக்காவால், ஒரு வான தூபி 'Culamani-cetiya' கட்டப்பட்டது. இதை சூளாமணி கோபுரம் [அல்லது சூளாமணி சைத்தியம்] என்று தமிழில் கூறலாம்? மேலும் புத்தர் காலமான பிறகு, டோனா என்ற மனிதன், புத்தரின் வலது கழுத்து எலும்பை தனது தலைப்பாகையில் மறைக்க முயன்றார், ஆனால் சக்கா அதை அவரிடமிருந்து எடுத்து, சேதியத்தில் [வான் தூபியில்] அதையும் சேர்த்து வைத்தார் என்று கூறப்படுகிறது.

In Dravidian and Indo-Aryan phonetics, we often see shifts where:
"ḷ" (ள) and "d" (ட) get interchanged over time.
Retroflex sounds like "ḷ" are replaced with dentals like "d" in Sanskritization (and vice versa).
Tamil and Pali usage often differ from Sanskrit, leading to variations in pronunciation and writing.
For example:
Chuda (சுட) vs. Cūḷā (சூளா) → Phonetic shift from "d" (ட) → "ḷ" (ள) is possible.
Mani (மணி) remains unchanged.
So, Chudamani (சுடாமணி) → Cūḷāmaṇī (சூளாமணி) is phonetically feasible, especially in Buddhist contexts.

‘இவர்களுக்குத் தீட்சை செய்து வையுங்கள்" என்று அரசன் தேரரைக் கேட்டுக் கொண்டான். 'மாமன்ன! பெண்களுக்கத் தீட்சை செய்து வைக்க எங்களுக்க அனுமதி கிடையாது' என்று தேரர் பதிலளித்தார். பாடலிபுத்ரத்தில் [Pataliputta] என்னுடைய தங்கை சங்கமித்தா என்ற பெயருடைய தேரி இருக்கிறாள். அனுபவத்தில் முதிர்ந்தவள் அவள். ‘புத்தர் ஞானம் பெற்ற புனித போதி மரத்தின் தென்பகுதிக் கிளையுடன் [ஏன் தென்பகுதி கிளை?] அவள் இங்கே வருவாள் என்று இந்த பந்தி கூறுகிறது.
மன்னன் தேவநம்பிய தீசன் தனது மருமகனும், அவரது அமைச்சருமான அரிதனிடம் [Arittha] போதி மரத்தின் கிளையை கொண்டு வருவதுடன், தேரி சங்கமித்தாவையும் கூட்டிக் கொண்டு வர, அசோகரிடம் செல்ல முடியுமா என்று விசாரித்தார்! அவன் ஒப்புக்கொண்டான். மேலும் அவன், தனது மனத்திண்மையால் [by his will power] அவன் புறப்பட்ட அதே நாளில் பாடலிபுத்ரத்தை அடைந்தார் [18 - 8: ஐம்பு கோளத்தில் கப்பல் ஏறி, மகாசமுத்திரத்தைக் கடந்து, தேரருடைய சக்தியால் புறப்பட்ட அன்றே அழகிய புஷ்பபுரத்துக்கு வந்து சேர்ந்தான்.]; மற்றொரு மாபெரும் பொய். அவன் அசோகருக்கும் சங்கமித்தைக்கும் அந்த செய்தியைச் சொன்னார். சங்கமித்தை கோரிக்கையை ஏற்றுக்கொண்டு, தயக்கம் காட்டிய, தந்தை அசோகனை ஒருவாறு சமாதானப்படுத்தினாள். மொகாலிபுத்தவும் [Moggaliputta] அதை ஆதரித்தார்.
Part: 82 / Appendix – Summary of the Mahavamsa / Chapter 01 to Chapter 37
Sumana went to the King Asoka the very moment he departed. All the miraculous and magical events happened are not historical events. Which is the city of gods? How did Sumana meet Sakka, the king of gods? Tamils have no issue with these as religious edifications, but will never accept as historical events. Apparently, the right collarbone relic was obtained from the Culamani-cetiya. Phonetically, l (Ell) and ‘d’ get interchanged in the course of time or during transcription between languages. It could be ‘Cudamani’ in Tamil. There was a Vihara called Cudamani Vihara in Nagapattinam in Tamil Nadu also with the name Rajarajapperumpalli, which was standing in dilapidated state until 1867, for about 800 to 900 years after its construction. It was pulled down by Jesuits priests.
The above sketches are two views of Cudamani Vihara, which was prepared in 1846. The king Rajaraja endowed the revenues from the Anaimankalam village for the upkeep of this Vihara. This Vihara is also known as Rajendracholapperumpalli, Silendracutamani Vihara etc. The king Silendra of the present day Indonesia or Malaysia built this Vihara with the blessings of the Chola kings who also generously granted revenues from villages for its upkeep.
The author has no intention to hurt the feelings of the Buddhists, but their blind belief in the Mahavamsa resulted in the death of about of 150,000 Tamils in very gruesome manners, and in the displacement of half a million Tamils, and the pious Buddhists without any compunction or remorse branded them as economic refugees. In this process, Tamils got their parliamentary representations drastically reduced with boisterous behaviour of the Sinhala members in the Parliament shouting down the reduced Tamil members with the tacit approval of the speaker of the House. It is then necessary to analyse the genuineness of the document on which the Sinhala Buddhists base their claim.
Coming back to the chapter 17 again, Sumana went to Asoka on the very moment he departed, implying divine power, and it is not history, but theology. Sumana went to the city of gods. Tamils do not believe this nonsense. If all the supposed relics of the Buddha in the Buddhist countries were added together, it may weigh greater than that of the Buddha when he was alive. We would, again, like to stress that Mahinda, Sumana, Samghamitta are not real personalities, and the instant travels, even to the city of gods, are not real events.
Chapter 18: This is about the obtaining the branch of the Bodhi tree to be taken to Lanka. It was decided earlier to invite Samghamitta to perform pabbajji ordination on Queen Anula and her five hundred women, 15-21. The King Devanampiya Tissa inquired his nephew, also his minister; Arittha whether he could go to Asoka to bring the branch of the Bo tree and Theri Samghamitta! He agreed and by his will power reached Pupphapura (Pataliputta) on the same day he departed; another lie. He passed the message to Asoka as well as to Samghamitta. Samghamitta acceded to the request and convinced the reluctant Asoka that she should go. Moggaliputta was also in favour of it.
