  • How does staging a hunger strike in Canada affect what is happening in Sri Lanka? The Canadian government's position is quite clear - these demonstrators are representing a terrorist organization and so are not going to get the response they seek. So stop trying to starve yourself and look for a more logical way to bring attention to the plight of your relatives that does not interfere with everyone else's daily lives - let's face it - the leaders in Sri Lanka probably don't care what Canada or any other country thinks.

  • Come on folks... gather up your belongings and go home. If you want to protest that's fine. Just don't die on our streets. It's not our conflict. None of our business

  • If the family members of the hunger strikers are worried maybe they can give them a sandwich? How is it anyone elses problem or concern what these protestors choose to do? The Tamil Tigers are the authors of their own "misfortune" now they want CANADA to solve it?

  • Re: your comment "the Tamil Canadians who have been protesting peacefully in Ottawa". I can only assume from your comment that you were not sitting on a bus for 3 1/2 hours - stuck in traffic - just trying to get home from work to your family - while this bunch of "terrorists" protested peacefully. As you can see from most of these postings no one gives a rats ass about these people - they can all go back to where they came from.

  • I am sure that my hard earned tax dollars are going to have to pay for any medical attention this bunch requires as a result of this brazen act.

  • GO HOME We are partly to blame for allowing this to happen in our streets. By letting these people protest , disrupt traffic, litter our streets, etc. etc. etc. we are giving them the impression that we care. Which we DON'T! How much is this going to cost the citizens of Ottawa? Are these people even covered under our Provincial Health Plan to be eligible to receive medical attention at all. Sorry, but I have no sympathy for any of you. I just wish that Ottawa and by that I mean the City of Ottawa as well as the Federal Government had enough balls to put an end to this once and for all. But then.....we are just taxpayers.....what rights do we have?

  • The most annoying thing about these idiots 'starving' themselves is the cost of the paramedics attending them & their subsequent non-availability for real medical emergencies. Mayor O'Brien, we'd better be charging these clowns full rate for this additional imposition upon our TAXPAYER funded city resources...
