Subject : Please consider people of Sri Lanka

A year ago, government ministers and the president of Sri Lanka himself gave assurances that they want to incorporate the Tamil population as equal members of the national family. They seem to recognize that, unless Tamil are treated with dignity and justice, the seeds of conflict will only be perpetuated. Unfortunately, they have yet to introduce the kind of policies that are need to give substance to this intention.

Today, Sri Lankan president is modern day Idi Amin and/or Hitler in the making.

Only economic conditions can force Sri Lankan leaders to rethink their draconian policies towards their citizens. EU demanded 15 points of basic human rights from Sri Lanka that all take granted in the west. The failure by Sri Lanka has resulted in cancelling tax tariff preference as of August 15. The UK based company, NEXT has also decided to move its factories out of Sri Lanka.

They short term pain is negligible considering what we have gone through and what to come had Sri Lanka becomes the next Zimbawae.

Dear Editor,

Re: Sri Lanka: From war to reconciliation

If Sri Lankan ambassador to the United States, Mr. Jaliya Wickramasuriya believes he can continue to hoodwink, well he is wrong. This Commission serves only as an ephemeral shield for the War Crimes indictment.

With the commissions set up by the Sri Lankan government in the past and the current political development in mind, it would indeed be more appropriate to say that the said commission is bound to add salt to festering nation's wounds. The history suggests that Sri Lanka was never sincere in any commissions and even this suggestions was rejected by many, including HRW, AI and UN.

Sri Lanka should openly cooperate with UN to investigate alleged war crimes.

Thank you,

Dear Secretary General,

Though the minister in question is in an alliance, he is used as a scapegoat for protests and attacks on embassies and NGOs in Colombo. The Sri Lankan ruling brothers are dictators in the making and should be stooped.

Vital aid to rebuild war-torn communities from Donor groups is channeled through 'Presidential Task Fund' and is being siphoned by the brothers for their own benefits and new settlements where the original habitants of the region are kept in the camps after one year from the conflict.

Please continue to voice for the people and protect their rights despite Sri Lanka's gross violations of international law and commitments.

Dear Non Violent Peace Force,

It is with profound sadness we learned that couple of your members have been evicted from Sri Lanka. This reiterates the fact Sri Lanka continues its march in the wrong direction, led by the President and his brothers.

From the killings of 17 ACF NGO workers to expelling many other NGO workers to terrorizing UN in the last few days, Sri Lanka continues impunity and supported by a few handful nations.

Having said all these, the people who truly need services like yours’ are the most unfortunate and we wish you continue to seek avenues to help the needy.

Mr.Sweeney.

Leading into May 2009, we were told that military solution will not be sought to the legitimate grievances of Tamils. Unfortunately, that is what precisely Sri Lanka is doing. The future of Tamils look bleaker than ever.

Further, the West and India feel their prospective in the region diminished by ever increasing presence by China (Balnkanization of India).

For the the stability of Indian Ocean which is vital to the world peace, a military presence in Tamil homeland should also be considered.

Subject: UN Peace keeping forces should be sent

Dear Secretary General,

A country which is trying to tell this world that they have crushed terrorism by carrying gun and a HR book on the other, today is trying to tell the world, "let us all look into the future". Further, international community wants a reconciliation, but the big question where does reconciliation start?

Reconciliation does not start:

-- Expanding and occupying Tamil lands, settling Sinhalese in these lands and building Buddhists shrines etc etc.

-- Keeping thousands of Tamils in prisons, violating rights/freedom, and using rape as weapon of war

-- Not lifting blockades and economic sanctions against Tamils

Regardless of one's opinion about Tamil Tigers, they provided some safety net for Tamils in Sri Lanka, and today that should be given by the international community. The time has come for UN to consider deploying a peace keeping force to protect Tamils, their freedom and rights.

I am one of those who has been following this story from day one, I feel all buzz created by so called terrorism expert Rohan Gunartna was farce to say the least. This "Professor" is clearly working against Tamils, in many countries and most likely supported by a government that not only most likely committed war crimes, it is now insulting UN. I wonder how he feels about that!

The Canadian government must sue him to get every penny that was paid to Mr.Gunaratne for his "fabricated" consultant services. At the least, he should never ever be "consulted" again!

Subject: The death 27 years old T.Saravanai and a culture raping Tamils women

27 years old nurse did hang herself after allegedly being sexually abused by a Sinhala doctor, two days ago in the inlet Velanai. In the meantime, Sri Lanka Army (SLA) soldiers occupying Vanni continue to sexually abuse women among recently resettled civilians. With the victory, now the Sinhalese treat Tamil women as their prize!

Many of the complaints have been made to a Christian priest now living in Vanni. Also, a foreign journalist wrote that the resettled people in Vanni had told him about SLA soldiers sexually abusing women besides intruding into their privacy under the pretext of search and checking. Young women are forced to remain in their huts as SLA soldiers harass them while going past the SLA sentry posts besides attempting to abuse them sexually.

Thirteen months after the end of the war, Tamils wonder when will start feeling freedom, peace and dignity. And who will provide them with safety? In the meantime, the rape as a weapon of war continues.

Dear Madam/Sir,

re: NAM members on UN panel and Sri Lanka

Leading into blocking and terrorizing employees at the UN compound should not be tolerated. This is in blatant violations against UN protocols in which Sri Lanka too a member state.

Even if Sri Lanka considers this UN panel may not be necessary, this should not be how it should protest. I sincerely hope as a representative of UN, You too would agree that Sri Lanka should not hold hostage UN and it should rather consider cooperating.

Please support the UN panel so these atrocities never repeat again. It would also pave ways for permanent peace and accountability.

Thank You!

Your Excellency,

While Sri Lanka disputes the claim of UN’s estimate of 7000 Tamils massacred last year, hostage taking and intimidation of their staff members are not the civilized way to object. It seems bizarre that Sri Lanka should have the right to fight "war on terror" against Tamils without accountability.

Many individuals like Yaseer Arafat and Nelson Mandela once branded as terrorists were hunted down for what they did to liberate themselves and their country from such tyranny. Later both were honored with Nobel peace prize! Like Tamils, Palestinians too have long suffered,

I am confident that You and your member organization would make the right call, supporting UN, on this important issue of peace in Sri Lanka.

Subject: Sudan Al Bashir today, Sri Lankan leader tomorrow!

Information and Evidence Unit

Office of the Prosecutor

Post Office Box 19519

2500 CM The Hague

The Netherlands

July 13, 2010

Dear Sir/Madam:

Thanks for this tremendous effort by The International Criminal Court (ICC) on getting justice for the people of Sudan. This is work is complete and I hope soon he will be arrested and face justice.

As this is the first time that the International Criminal Court has accused a sitting head of state of genocide, and it sends one of strongest signals to those leaders who also have committed genocide, or to those who will think twice before committing.

I have attached ample evidence against the president of Sri Lanka along the three charges that was against Sudanese leader. ICC should also look into crimes committed by the Sri Lankan leader and others.

Sincerely,

============================================

Dear Prosecutor,

Sudan: One year after the International Criminal Court accused Sudan’s president, Omar Hassan al-Bashir, of war crimes for the genocidal rampage in Darfur, he was re-elected in a blatantly manipulated election.

Sri Lanka: One year after the end of defeating Tamil Tigers militarily, the justice of those innocents killed and reconciliation seem far away. The re-elected president has gone from being a human rights defender to being accused of war crimes by UN. Despite the right mix of some incentives and sustained attention by UN, neither peace nor political solution has been offered to Tamil minority. In contrary, Tamils have been subject to the same treatment with continued harsh emergency laws and freedom of expression and movement restricted.

Sudan: Mr. Bashir has no legitimacy and he must stand trial for his crimes. But those facts must not divert the world’s attention from another potential crisis: the very real danger of renewed civil war between Arab Muslim northern Sudan and the south, which is largely Christian and animist. The last conflict — from 1983 to 2005 — left about two million people dead.

Sudan :Under a United States-backed peace agreement, the semi-autonomous southern region will hold a referendum in January to decide its future. Voters are expected to choose independence. Leaders in both the north and the south pledged to respect the results. But there is so much oil involved that they can’t be depended on to keep their word — without strong encouragement from the United States and other major players, including UN.

Sri Lanka: What Tamil minority needs a process supported by United Nations and other major players, including India and China, where Tamils would be treated as equal citizens. Otherwise, at the end of president’s term, Tamils could well be diminished to a trans nation.

Sudan and Sri Lanka are at cross roads and we all have to measure these countries with the same yard stick!

Sincerely,

 Illegal imprisonment of more than 13000 Tamils

 Expedited colonization of Tamil homes and lands

 Basic rights and freedom are denied, including that for children and women

- Climate of rape and fear are wide spread

Several years of arranged marriage has only resulted in extinction of Tamil nation in Sri Lanka. UN must help to have a referendum and Tamils should help to go on their own way as this marriage has failed.

Sri Lanka claims that it's armed forces did not kill any civilian then why the Sri Lankan government is deadly against the UN Investigation to find out the truth. If Sri Lankan forces did not have blood in their hands why then the Minister of Housing & Construction blockaded the UN Office in Colombo and burnt the effigy of he UN Secretary General?

Tamils around the world [more than 70 millions] and many others are very eager to know the truth.

I most earnestly request you and the Government of Brazil give full support and backing to the UNs initiative to Investigate the War Crimes and Crimes against humanity.

Sincerely,

Your Excellencies;

Subject: R2P and NAM / UN on war crimes in Sri Lanka

As an ordinary Tamil, I cannot thank enough You all for citing R2P in your letter to NAM. This has given all of us much needed hope to continue our lives!

Even after 62 years, Tamils lack R2P and continue to suffer in the hands of Sri Lankan state. Be it denying access to free speech and democracy or right own land, right for free labor etc. Tamils have been subject to sexual harassment and military occupation remains a threat to the well being of Tamil minority.

Please continue to voice for Tamils and their rights along with R2P. We thank you again!

Sincerely,
