அலிஸ்டயர் பர்ட் கருத்துக்கு இலங்கை அரசு கவலை

இலங்கை தொடர்பான ஆவணப்படமொன்றை சனல் 4 தொலைக்காட்சி வெளியிட்ட பின், தெற்காசியாவுக்கான பிரித்தானிய வெளிவிவகார அமைச்சர் அலிஸ்டயர் பர்ட் தெரிவித்த குற்றச்சாட்டுகளுக்கு இலங்கை அரசாங்கம் கவலை தெரிவித்துள்ளது.

இலங்கை அரசாங்கம் தனது சொந்தப் பிரஜைகைளை வேண்டுமென்ற இலக்கு வைப்பதாக மேற்படி வீடியோவில் குற்றம் சுமத்தப்படுவதை இலங்கை அரசாங்கம் உறுதியாக மறுப்பதை,தெற்காசியாவுக்கான பிரித்தானிய வெளிவிவகார அமைச்சர் கவனத்திற்கொள்ளாதமை குறித்து அரசாங்கம் கவலைகொண்டுள்ளது என இலங்கை அரசாங்கம் தெரிவித்துள்ளது.

இலங்கைக்கு நண்பர்களிடமிருந்து அச்சுறுத்தல்கள் அல்லாமல், 3 தசாப்தகால யுத்தத்தில் இழந்தவற்றை மீள ஸ்தாபிப்பதற்கும் நல்லிணக்கம் மற்றும் பொருளாதார அபிவிருத்தி நோக்கி விரைவாக முன்னேறுவதற்கான உதவிகளே தேவைப்படும் நிலையில் இந்த ஆவணப்படம் ஒளிரப்பப்பட்டுள்ளதாகவும் இலங்கை சுட்டிக்காட்டியுள்ளது.

சனல் 4 ஆவணப்படமானது தருமஸ் அறிக்கையைப் போன்றதே எனவும் முன்கூட்டியே மேற்கொண்ட தீர்மானத்தை நியாயப்படுத்துவதற்காக சம்பவங்களையும் புகைப்படங்களையும் வரிசைப்படுத்தியதைத் தவிர வேறெதையும் அது செய்யவில்லை எனவும் இலங்கை அரசாங்கம் தெரிவித்துள்ளது.

இந்த படத்திற்கான மூலம் உறுதிப்படுத்தப்படவில்லை. இதுவரை எவரும் அதன் உள்ளடக்கத்திற்கு பொறுப்பேற்கவும் இல்லை என அரசாங்கம் கூறியுள்ளது.

தமிழீழ விடுதலைப் புலிகளினின் இணையத்தளங்களிலும் சர்வதேச ஊடகங்களின் சிறு பகுதியினாலும் முன்னர் ஒளிபரப்பப்பட்ட காட்சிகளையே சனல்4 ஜூன் 14 ஆம் திகதி ஒளிபரப்பிய ஆவணப்படம் கொண்டுள்ளது எனவும் அரசாங்கம் தெரிவித்துள்ளது.

The documentary, presented by newscaster John Snow, accused the Sri Lanka Government of executions, atrocities and shelling of civilians during the war.

Speaking immediately after the Channel 4 documentary Alistair Burt was quoted by the Foreign Office as having said: "Channel 4 footage, constitutes convincing evidence of violations of international humanitarian and human rights law and if the Sri Lankan government does not respond they would support the international community in revisiting all options available to press the Sri Lankan Government to fulfill its obligations.

‘Sri Lanka’s Killing Fields’ will be shown to MPs and parliamentary officials at a special showing in the House of Commons next week."

Alistair Burt’s response to ‘Channel 4’ documentary – ‘Sri Lanka’s Killing Fields’, released by the British Foreign Office:

Speaking after the transmission of ‘Channel 4’s documentary ‘Sri Lanka’s Killing Fields’, FCO Minister for South Asia Alistair Burt said: "I was shocked by the horrific scenes I saw in the documentary that was broadcast on 14 June.

The recent UN Panel of Experts’ report, this documentary and previously authenticated ‘Channel 4’ footage constitutes convincing evidence of violations of international humanitarian and human rights law. The whole of the international community will expect the Sri Lankans to give a serious and full response to this evidence.

Since the end of the conflict the UK has called for an independent, thorough and credible investigation of the allegations that war crimes were committed during the hostilities and the UK Government expects to see progress by the end of the year. I reiterated this message to the Sri Lankan Foreign Minister on 14 June.

If the Sri Lankan government does not respond we will support the international community in revisiting all options available to press the Sri Lankan Government to fulfill its obligations.

Unless this is done, Sri Lanka will not be able to move on, and the prospects for reconciliation between Sri Lanka’s communities will be curtailed. It is of the greatest importance that this does not happen."

Father S.J. Emmanuel, President of the Global Tamil Forum (GTF), said it had “awakened the international community to the truths of how brutal this particular armed conflict had been.” The Forum's official spokesman Suren Surendiran called for “an international independent investigation into allegations of breaches of international law by both sides.”

வந்த ஜே.வி. பி. காரன் கேட்ட கேள்வியில் எல்லாருமே மௌனமாகி விட்டார்களாம்! கேள்வி இது தான்:

In view of this , the SL High commission in Britain held a discussion on the 12th to decide on ways and means that should be sought to protest against this program. This discussion was led by the acting High Commissioner, A. Amza, political division chief Chaminda Kularatne, military attaché Prasanna Silva. Residents in UK including a number of leaders of civil and political organizations and pro Govt. supporters also participated in the discussions.

During the discussions , JVP chief , Dharshana of the London Branch posed the question : when this present SL Govt. is blindfolded , not abiding by the laws and committing crimes blatantly ; when it is even shooting down even the unarmed Sinhala people ; and keeping unjustifiably the Army Commander who won the war, Gen. Fonseka behind bars , how can we join in the protest ? The entire crowd was reduced to dead silence and were apparently stunned by the stark truth contained in this question. First the Govt. must rectify its own criminal faults and then seek the assistance of those abroad , the JVP chief emphasized.
