[TamilNet, Monday, 23 September 2013, 08:23 GMT] The obsession of utmost priority for a section of TNA leadership is to satisfy the Sri Lanka saving agenda of New Delhi and Washington, by interpreting the TNA victory as supersession of the Vaddukkoaddai Resolution based mandate of 1977, political observers in Jaffna commented on a statement made by the TNA leader Mr. R. Sampanthan, aided by Mr M.A. Sumanthiran, at a press conference convened in Jaffna on Sunday. Sampanthan talking of united and undivided country described the TNA victory as a clear verdict of Tamils, unprecedented in the political history of the island.

THE pitiless success of Sri Lanka’s military offensive delivers one salutary lesson: If you have China as an ally, you can afford to ignore pressure from anywhere else. . President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s government has won China’s financial, military and diplomatic support — along with the confidence to brush off Western protests about its behaviour. . In the closing stages of the assault on the Tamil Tigers, the army surrounded about 50,000 civilians inside a tiny enclave. Other governments would have found it difficult to resist outside calls for a unilateral ceasefire, at least to allow the evacuation of wounded innocents. . If the Security Council had thrown …

By Murali Vallipuranathan – Murali Vallipuranathan Few days ago, “The Hindu” an Indian newspaper published a news citing an information purportedly given by Indian Intelligence that LTTE was regrouping in Mullivaikal on May 18th on the day of Tamil genocide Remembrance Day for an attack (1). While reading this news, one may recall the Sri Lankan radio news during the war, where many blatant lies and fabrications were unraveled quoting a news agency called “Lanka Puvath“. Whenever India makes a major political move in Sri Lanka the Indian intelligence Agency publishes similar blatant and fabricated stories either directly or through their news agencies li…

“What can I do?” - thoughts for the Tamil Diaspora Janani Barathy Tamil Guardian 06 February 2008 The plight of our people has been steadily reaching newer levels. And, after being an observer with a hands-off approach, I decided to do something about it. I became proactive - in small ways. As a mother of two young children living in Sydney, Australia and having many commitments, it was not easy to change my inaction - but I did. I firmly believe now, that if we all do our little part and started working towards a common vision, that vision will and must materialize. I realise there’s spiritual element to this as well, and of course some people are skepti…
