Featured Replies

Share prices at the Colombo bourse were high by 12.30 pm having risen in early trade on Monday with brokers and investors cheering new President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa’s big victory.

The All Share Price Index gained by 1.59 per cent to 6,118.37 by 12.30 pm while the S&P rose by 2.03 per cent. to 3,045.60. Turnover was a resounding Rs. 1.7 billion.

The presidential election results remove much of the overhang from political uncertainty, analysts say.
