சட்டத்தின் ஆட்சியை நிலைநிறுத்தும் நாடு என்ற இலங்கையின் நற்பெயருக்கு ஆபத்து உள்ளதாக சுவிட்ஸர்லாந்து எச்சரிக்கை விடுத்துள்ளது.

விஷேட அறிக்கை ஒன்றை வெளியிட்டுள்ள சுவிஸ் தூதரகம் இந்த எச்சரிக்கையை விடுத்துள்ளது.

கொழும்பில் உள்ள சுவிஸ் தூதர பெண் பணியாளர் ஒருவர் தவறான தகவலை வெளியிட்டதாக தெரிவித்து, இன்று கைது செய்யப்பட்ட நிலையில், விளக்கமறியலில் வைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளார்.

இதனையடுத்தே சுவிட்ஸர்லாந்து இந்த எச்சரிக்கையை விடுத்துள்ளது. கடந்த மாதம் 25ம் திகதி கொழும்பில் உள்ள சுவிஸ் தூதர பெண் பணியாளர் ஒருவர் கடத்திசெல்லப்பட்டு பின்னர் விடுவிக்கப்பட்டதாக தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டது.

இந்நிலையில், பாதிக்கப்பட்ட பெண் மற்றும் சுவிஸ் தூதரகம் இருவரும் இந்த நடவடிக்கைகளின் போது இலங்கை அதிகாரிகளுடன் முழுமையாக ஒத்துழைத்தனர்.

அத்துடன், உடல்நலம் சரியில்லாமல் இருந்தபோதும் குறித்த பெண் பணியாளர், மூன்று நாட்களுக்கு மேலாக 30 மணி நேர விசாரணைக்கு உட்படுத்தப்பட்டதையும் இந்த அறிக்கையூடாக விமர்சிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

இதனிடையே, சுவிஸ் தூதர பணியாளர் கைது செய்யப்பட்டதைத் தொடர்ந்து, இலங்கை சட்ட அமுலாக்க அதிகாரிகள் தேசிய சட்டம் மற்றும் சர்வதேச நீதித் தரங்களுக்கு இணங்க வேண்டும் எனவும் வலியுத்தப்பட்டுள்ளது.

மேலும், பணியாளரின் உரிமைகள் சிறப்பாக பாதுகாக்கப்படுவதை உறுதி செய்ய வேண்டும் என்றும் FDFA எதிர்பார்க்கிறது.

இந்நிலையில், பாதிக்கப்பட்ட பெண்ணுக்கு முடிந்த அனைத்து உதவிகளும் வழங்கப்படும் என அந்த அறிக்கையில் கூறப்பட்டுள்ளது.

அந்த பெண்ணை ஒரு மன நோயாளியாக ஆகிவிடுவார்கள் இந்த மாதம் 30க்குள் இல்லை சிங்களம் விரும்பியதை ஒப்புக்கொண்டு கையொப்பம் இட்டு வெளியே வந்து (பின்னர் காணாமல் போய் ) விடுவார் .

Swiss Embassy: Statement on probe will tarnish SL’s image

The Swiss Embassy statement that it was not satisfied with the investigations carried out by Sri Lanka on the alleged abduction of its employee would being disrepute to Sri Lanka, UNP MP Palitha Range Bandara told a news conference today.

He claimed that Sri Lankans will face a difficult situation both locally and internationally with happenings such as this and because of incidents of political victimisation.

“The news of the abduction of MP Patali Champika Ranawaka’s former driver’s wife and the child is also a matter of concern,” the MP said. “The claim that the victims had got into the police vehicle at midnight and had come to Battaramulla cannot be accepted."

He highlighted the fact that no one would wilfully get into a police vehicle at 12 midnight.

Meanwhile MP Palitha Thewaraperuma who also participated in the news conference said more than 1,000 employees in various government institutions including those in the Samurdhi authorities have been asked not to report to work after the new government took office. He said no redress has been provided despite informing higher authorities of the government.

The MP said these incidents had taken place despite the assurance given by the authorities that no one would be subjected to political victimization and pointed out that government should take steps to stem the price hike in vegetables. (Yohan Perera)

Due process followed – SL to Swiss

Foreign Minister Dinesh Gunawardena on Friday (18) told Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis that due process has been adhered to at each step, in keeping with international norms respected by both countries regarding the investigations into the Sri Lankan employee of the Swiss Mission.

Minister Minister Gunawardena informed this when he received a telephone call from the Foreign Minister of Switzerland Ignazio Cassis Friday evening regarding the status of the Sri Lankan employee at the Swiss Embassy Ms. Garnier Banister Francis.
“Foreign Minister Gunawardena emphasized that Sri Lanka has fully complied with national law and international judicial standards, and that any assertion to the contrary was factually inaccurate,” the ministry said in a statement. 

The minister also “detailed the steps taken from the time the incident was first reported, through the presentation of Ms. Francis by the Swiss Embassy to the CID 13 days since the alleged incident, to the present, and emphasized that due process has been adhered to at each step, in keeping with international norms respected by both countries.”
