அத்தியாயம் 22 இன் 33 முதல் 40 வரையிலான கீழே பதியப்பட்ட வசனங்களை ஒருக்கா பார்க்கவும்:
" என்ன மகிழ்ச்சி இருக்கிறது ? எங்களுக்கோ குழந்தை கிடையாது. எனவே எங்கள் சந்தோஷம் சாரமில்லாதது" என்றாள் விகார தேவி. அசாதாரண சக்திகள் ஆறும் படைத்த தேரர், தமது ஞான திருஷ்டியில் அவளுக்குக் குழந்தை உண்டாகும் என்பதைக் கண்டார். ராணி என அழைத்து, நோய்வாய்ப்பட்டிருக்கும் துறவியைச் சென்று பார் என்றார். அவள் அவ்வாறே அங்கே சென்றாள். மரணத்தின் விளிம்பில் ஊசலாடிக்கொண்டு இருந்த அவரிடம் ராணி சொன்னாள்: " என்னுடைய மகனுகப் பிறக்க வேண்டும் என்று வேண்டிக் கொள்வீராக. அது எங்களுக்குப் பெரு மகிழ்ச்சியை அளிக்கும்." என்றாள். துறவி அவ்வாறு சொல்லாமல் இருப்பதைக் கண்ட அவள், இதற்காக ஏராளமான மலர்களைக் காணிக்கையாகச் செலுத்தி மீண்டும் வேண்டினாள். இப்போதும் அவர் விருப்பமில்லாமல் இருக்கவே, சரியான வழியை அறிந்த அவள் அவருடைய சார்பில் பிக்குகள் சங்கத்துக்கு மருந்துகளையும், உடைகளையும் வழங்கிவிட்டு மீண்டும் வேண்டினாள். பிறகு தான், அவர் அரச குடும்பத்தில் மறு பிறவி எடுக்க விரும்புவதாகக் கூறினார். பிறகு மனமகிழ்வுடன் அவள் விடை பெற்றுக் கொண்டு தேரில் ஏறிச் சென்று விட்டாள். அதன் பிறகு துறவி இறந்து விட்டார். ராணி சென்று கொண்டிருக்கும் போதே அவளுடைய கருவில் புதிய பிறவியெடுத்தார். இதை அவள் கண்டதும் நின்றாள். அரசனுக்கு இச்செய்தியை அனுப்பி விட்டு, அவனுடன் திரும்பி வந்தாள்.
இந்தக் குழந்தை தான் துட்டகாமினி. அதனால், அவர் விகாரதேவியின் கணவரான காகவண்ண தீசனின் உயிரியல் மகன் அல்ல. எனவே, அரியணைக்கு வாரிசும் அல்ல. துட்டகாமினி சமீபத்தில் இறந்த தேரரின் ஒரு அவதாரம் மட்டுமே. இது, சட்ட பூர்வ தந்தைக்கு பிறக்காத, முறைகேடான மகனாக துட்டகாமினி இங்கு காணப்படுகிறார். எனவே துட்டகாமினி ஒரு [அரச உரிமையை] அபகரிப்பாளர் என்ற நிலைக்கு வருகிறார். அதாவது அரியணைக்கு சட்டப்பூர்வ இளவரசர் அல்ல. அவர் பன்னிரண்டு வயதாக இருந்த போதே, தனது தந்தையின் விருப்பத்திற்கு எதிராக தமிழர்களுடன் சண்டையிட எண்ணினார். இது அவருக்கு துட்ட (கெட்ட) என்ற அடைமொழியைப் பெற்றுத் தந்தது என்பது வரலாறு. பன்னிரண்டு வயது சிறுவன் எப்படி அந்த முடிவுக்கு வந்திருக்க முடியும்? இரத்தக் கறை படிந்த வாளிலிருந்து இரத்தக் கறை படிந்த தண்ணீரைக் குடிக்க வேண்டும் என்ற வக்கிரமான ஆசை கொண்ட அவரது தாயார்தான் இதற்குக் காரணமாக இருந்திருக்க வேண்டும். துட்டகாமினி பத்து "அதிமானுட போர்வீரர்களை" [super human warriors] நியமித்தார். அவர்களில் முதலாவதானவன், நந்தி மித்ரன் [Nandhimithra, also known as Nandhimitta], மன்னன் எல்லாளனின் தளபதியான மித்ரனின் [Mitta] மருமகன் ஆகும். அவனுக்கு பத்து யானைகளின் பலம் இருந்தது. அப்படியே, மனித வலிமை கொண்ட மற்ற ஒன்பது பேரும் உள்ளனர். இந்த கற்பனைக் கதைகளுக்குள் மேலும் செல்ல வேண்டிய அவசியமில்லை. ஏனெனில் அவை நிதானமான வரலாற்று கதைகள் அல்ல. பத்து யானைகளின் பலம் கொண்ட ஒரு மனிதன் என்பது எவராலும் நம்பமுடியாத ஒன்று. அப்படியானவர்களில் பத்து பேர் என்பது முழுக்க முழுக்க அபத்தமான பொய்.

பத்து யானைகளுடைய பலம் நந்தி மித்ரனுக்கு இருந்தது. அவன் வளர்ந்ததும் நகரத்திற்குள் சென்று தனது மாமாவுக்கு சேவை செய்தான். அந்த நேரத்தில் தூபிகள் மற்றும் பிற புனித நினைவுச்சின்னங்கள் ஆகியவற்றை தமிழர் நாசப்படுத்தி வந்தனர் என்று இந்த பந்தி கூறுகிறது.
ஆனால், அதிகாரம் 21 - 21 முதல் 26 வரை தெளிவாக எல்லாளனின் ஆட்சியின் நடுநிலையை, மற்றும் தூபிக்கும் வழங்கும் மதிப்பை விரிவாகக் கூறுகிறது.

'தங்களால் தூபம் காயம்பட்டு விட்டது" என்று மந்திரிகள் அரசனிடம் கூறினர். இது அறியாமல் நேர்ந்ததாயினும், அரசன் தேரில் இருந்து குதித்துத் தரையில் படுத்துக்கொண்டு இதன் சக்கரத்தால், என்னுடைய தலையையும் துண்டித்து விடுங்கள்’ என்றார். "மற்றவர்க்குத் தீங்கிழைப்பதை எங்கள் குரு நாதர் அனுமதிப்பது இல்லை. இடிந்த பகுதியைக் கட்டிக் கொடுத்து (பிக்குகளுடன்) சமாதானம் செய்து கொள்ளுங்கள்' என்றனர் அவர்கள். இடிந்துபோன பதினைந்து கற்களைப் புதிதாக அமைப்பதற்காக அரசன் பதினையாயிரம் கஹப்பணம் [kahapanas, கிமு 3 ஆம் நூற்றாண்டிலிருந்து பண்டைய இலங்கையில் பயன்படுத்தப்பட்ட ஆரம்பகால, துளையிடப்பட்ட செப்பு நாணயம் இதுவாகும்] செலவிட்டான். அதன் மதிப்பு சுமார் அரை கிரீடம் ஆகும்.
அதாவது, மன்னன் எல்லாளன் ஒரு நாள் தற்செயலாக ஒரு தூபிக்கு சேதம் விளைவித்தாலும், அமைச்சர்கள் இதை மன்னனிடம் சுட்டிக் காட்டியபோது, அவர் தன்னைத் தரையில் கிடத்தி, தனது தலையைத் துண்டிக்கச் சொன்னார் என 21 ஆம் அத்தியாயம் எல்லாளனை விவரிக்கிறது. இவ்வாறு சிறந்த இயல்புகளைக் கொண்ட ஒரு மன்னன், தமிழர்களை தூபி மற்றும் பிற புனித கட்டமைப்புகளை சேதப்படுத்த அனுமதிப்பாரா? எல்லாளனின் உன்னத கதாபாத்திரங்களின் கதை அந்தக் கால மக்களிடையே ஒரு புராணக்கதையாக இருந்திருக்க வேண்டும். என்றாலும் மகாநாமா 21 ஆம் அத்தியாயத்தை மறந்துவிட்டு, தமிழருக்கு எதிராக இந்த வசைபாடலைக் பாடுகிறார் அல்லது ஒரு வெறித்தனமான யாரோ ஒரு தேரர், 100 - 150 பின்னர் நகலெடுக்கும் பொழுது அதைச் செருகி இருக்கலாம்? இதன் விளைவுகளை தீவின் மூலை முடுக்கிலும் அல்லது எங்கும் உள்ள தமிழர்கள் இன்னும் உணர்கிறார்கள். பத்து யானைகளை விட அதிக பலம் கொண்ட மனிதர்கள் என்பது தேரர் மகாநாமாவின் பெரும் கற்பனைகள். எனவே, அவர்கள் எந்த விமர்சனத்திற்கும் தகுதியற்றவர்கள் என்பதே உண்மை!
Part: 87 / Appendix – Summary of the Mahavamsa / Chapter 01 to Chapter 37
Verses 33 to 40 of chapter 22: Viharadevi said; what is our happiness here, since we have no children? Lo, our happiness is therefore barren. The Thera, who, being gifted with six (super normal) powers, foresaw that she would have, said: ‘Seek out the sick samanera, O queen’. She went thence said to the samanera, who was near unto death: ‘Utter the wish to become my son; for that would be great happiness to us’. And when she perceived that he would not the keen witted woman commanded, to this end, great and beautiful offerings of flowers, and renewed her pleading. When he was yet unwilling, she, knowing the right means, gave to the brotherhood for his sake all manner of medicines and garments and again pleaded with him. Then he did desire (rebirth for himself in) king’s family, and she caused the place to be richly adorned, and taking her leave she mounted the car and went her way. Hereupon the samanera passed away, and he returned to a new life in the womb of the queen while she was yet upon her journey, 22 - 39.
This child was Duttha Gamani. He was not the biological son of Kakkavannatissa, the husband of Viharadevi and not the heir to the throne. Duttha Gamni is only an incarnation of the Thera who has just died. This is the legitimacy to the throne of the illegitimate son, Duttha Gamni. Duttha Gamni is therefore a usurper, and not a legitimate prince to the throne. Even when he was twelve years old, he intended to fight Damilas against the will of his father. This earned him the epithet Duttha (bad).How could a twelve-year boy have come to that decision. His mother who had the perverted desire to drink the blood stained water from the blooded sword must have had been the cause.
Duttha Gamni recruited ten super human warriors. First, one of them, Nandhimitta, is the nephew of Mitta, a general of the king Elara. He had the strength of ten elephants. There are other nine persons of super human strength. No need to go further into these fantasy tales as they would not make sober history. A man having the strength of ten elephants is untrustworthy and ten of them are ridiculous lies. Nandhamitta’s story is in conflict with the chapter 21. 23 – 8 to 9 speaks of Damilas desecrating the Thupas. Refer to 21 - 15 to 26. The King at that time was Elara, and he, one day accidentally caused damage to a Thupa. When the ministers pointed this to the king, he flung himself to the ground and asked his own head to be severed. This is how Elara is described in the chapter 21. Would a king of these excellent characters allow Damila’s to do damage to Thupas and other sacred structures? The story of Elara’s noble characters must have been a legend among the people of that time. Mahanama forgot the chapter 21 and invented this diatribe against the Damilas or a fanatical copyist inserted it later. The repercussions of this are still being felt by the Tamils nook and corner of the island. Men with strengths greater than ten elephants are the nefarious imaginations of the Thera Mahanama, and do not merit any criticism.
