சிங்கள மக்கள் தமிழர்கள் மீது கடும் போரைத் திணித்த தங்கள் தலைமைகள் எதனையும் நிராகரிக்கவில்லை என்பது இதன் மூலம் தெட்டத் தெளிவாகியுள்ளது.

ஆனாலும் தமிழர்களில் நிலைதான் பரிதாபமாக மாறியிருந்துள்ளது. போரைத் திணித்தவர்களிற்கே வாக்குப் போட வேண்டிய நிலையில் சில சந்தர்ப்பங்களில்.. சில இடங்களில் இருந்துள்ளனர். இருந்தாலும் இந்த நிலைலை பெரும்பாலான தமிழ் மக்கள் நிராகரித்து இந்தத் தேர்தல்களில் (சிங்கள ஜனாதிபதி மற்றும் சிங்கள நாடாளுமன்றப் பொதுத் தேர்தல்கள்) வாக்களிக்க போகவில்லை என்பதும் குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.
