முள்ளிவாய்க்கால் முடிந்த பின்னரும் தமிழருக்கு ஏதோ செய்கிறோம் என்று கூவிக் கொண்டு கனேடிய அரசாங்கத்திடமிருந்து காசு பெற்றுக் கொண்டிருப்பவர்களும் நல்லாகத்தானே இருக்கிறார்கள்.   அவர்களும் Brandகளில்தானே திரிகிறார்கள்.   என்னைப் பொறுத்தவரை இருவருக்கும் அவ்வளவு பெரிய வித்தியாசமில்லை.  அடுத்த வருடம் எல்லாம் வெளிச்சத்திற்கு வரும்தானே?  பொறுத்திருந்து பார்ப்போம்.  

இரண்டு நாட்களுக்கு முன்னர் தமிழ் ஒலி வானொலி (பிரான்ஸ்) என்னோடு தொடர்பு கொண்டு நேர்காணல் கண்டது. பிரான்சில் கடந்த 15 ஆண்டுகளாக தமிழர் புனர்வாழ்வுக் கழகம் யூலை முதல் வாரத்தில் விளையாட்டுப் போட்டியை நடத்தி வருகிறது. இந்த ஆண்டு அங்கு புலி அமைப்பு என்று சொல்லிக் கொள்ளும் Coordinating Committee of Tamils-France (CCTF) விளையாட்டுப் போட்டியை ஒன்றாகச் சேய்வோம் என்று கேட்டிருக்கிறது. அது பற்றிப் பேச்சு வார்த்தை நடந்தது. ஆனால் அது தோல்வியில் முடிந்தது. உடனே கரும்புலிகள் நாளில் நடக்கும் போட்டியைப் புறக்கணியுங்கள் என்று CCTF பரப்புரை செய்கிறது. பேச்சு வார்த்தை வெற்றி கண்டிருந்தால் நாள் பற்றி அந்த அமைப்புக்கு கவலை இருந்திருக்காது. பேச்சு வார்த்தை தோல்வி என்பதாலேயே இந்த மோதல் போக்கு. இந்தச் சண்டித்தனம். கடந்த ஆண்டு ரொறன்ரோவில் பெட்னா தமிழ்விழா நடந்தது. அதனை கனடிய தமிழர் பேரவை முன்னின்று நடத்தியது. ஆனால் அதனைச் செரித்துக் கொள்ள முடியாத கனடா தேசிய மக்கள் அவை (அந்த அமைப்பும் பெட்னாவில் உறுப்பினராக இருக்கிறது) பார் பார் கரும்புலி நாளில் தமிழ் விழா வைக்கிறார்கள் - இவர்கள் பாபிகள் - துரோகிகள் - மக்களே அந்த விழாவைப் புறக்கணியுங்கள் எனப் புலிக் கொடி தூக்கினார்கள். ஆனால் பெட்னா விழா வெற்றிகரமாக நடந்து முடிந்தது. இதில் பகிடி என்னவென்றால் கடந்த 25 ஆண்டுகளாக பெட்னா தமிழ்விழா அமெரிக்காவில் யூலை முதல் வாரத்தில்தான் நடைபெற்றது. காரணம் யூலை 4 அமெரிக்க சுதந்திர நாள். நீண்ட வாரவிடுமுறை. அதில் உலகத் தமிழர் இயக்கத்தைச் சேர்ந்தவர்களும் கலந்து கொண்டிருந்திருக்கிறார்கள்.

இந்தப் போலி புலி ஆதரவாளர்கள் "நாங்களே எல்லாவற்றையும் தீர்மானிப்போம். நாங்களே தமிழ்த் தேசியத்தை குத்தகைக்கு எடுத்துள்ளோம், நாங்களே வன்னியில் வாரிசுகள் மற்றவர்கள் வாய்பொத்தி கைகட்டி நாங்கள் சொல்வது போல் நடக்க வேண்டும் நாங்கள் சொல்வதை ஏற்றுக் கொள்ள வேண்டும்" எனக் கட்டளை பிறப்பிக்கிறார்கள். ஏற்றுக் கொள்ளத் தவறினால் உடனே இருப்பில் இருக்கவே இருக்கிறது "தமிழ்த் துரோகி"கள் பட்டம்.

இப்படித்தான் தலிபான்கள் பெண்பிள்ளைகள் பள்ளிக் கூடம் போகக் கூடாது, பெண்கள் வேலை செய்யக் கூடாது, சிறு பிள்ளைகளுக்குத் தடுப்பூசி போடக் கூடாது, திரைப்படம் பார்க்கக் கூடாது, முடிதிருத்தும் நிலையம் நடத்தக் கூடாது, பெண்கள் காலில் இருந்து தலைவரை கருப்பு ஆடை அணிய வேண்டும் வேறு ஆடை அணியக் கூடாது எனத் தடை செய்கிறார்கள். பெண் மாணவிகள் படிக்கும் பள்ளிக் கூடங்களைக் குண்டு வைத்துத் தகர்க்கிறார்கள். தங்கள் கட்டளைகளை மீறுவோர் அல்லாவுக்கு எதிரானவர்கள் என்று சொல்லி சுட்டுக் கொல்லுகின்றார்கள். கொன்று வருகிறார்கள்.

கரும்புலி நாளில் விளையாட்டுப் போட்டி நடத்தக் கூடாது, தமிழ்விழா கொண்டாடக் கூடாது என்று புலிகளின் பெயரைச் சொல்லி தடை செய்பவர்களைப் பார்க்கும் போது இவர்களையும் தலிபான்கள் - தமிழ்த் தலிபான்கள் - என்று அழைக்க வேண்டியுள்ளது!

ரொறன்ரோவில் தமிழர்கள் செறிந்து வாழும் றூச் றிவர் என்ற தொகுதியில் கரி ஆனந்தசங்கரி என்ற தமிழர் லிபரல் கட்சி சார்பில் நாடாளுமன்றத் தேர்தலில் போட்டியிட முன்வந்துள்ளார். இவர் ஒரு சட்டத்தரணி. நீண்ட காலம் மனித உரிமைகளுக்காக கனடாவிலும் ஜெனிவாவிலும் குரல் கொடுத்து வருபவர். வன்னியில் மருத்துவர் சத்தியமூர்த்தி நடத்தி வரும் தொண்டு நிறுவனத்துக்கு கல்வி கொனக்க்ஷன் என்ற அமைப்பு மூலம் கடந்த 3 ஆண்டுகளாக நிதி திரட்டி உதவி செய்து வருகிறார். கனடிய தமிழர் பேரவையின் சட்ட ஆலோகர். ஆனால் இங்குள்ள தமிழ்த் தலிபான்கள் கரி ஆனந்தசங்கரி என்ற தமிழரை எதிர்த்து வீடு வீடாகச் சென்று கதவுகளைத் தட்டிப் பரப்புரை செய்கிறார்கள். பொதுமக்களுக்குச் சொந்தமான ஆனால் அவர்கள் கட்டுப்பாட்டில் இருக்கும் கனடிய தமிழ் வானொலி ஊடாகவும் உலகத்தமிழர் செய்தித்தாள் ஊடாகவும் பரப்புரை செய்கிறார்கள். கரி ஆனந்தசங்கரிக்கும் அவரது தந்தையாரின் அரசியலுக்கும் முடிச்சுப் போட்டு அவருக்கும் "துரோகிப் பட்டம்" கட்டுகிறார்கள். கரி ஆனந்தசங்கரி முள்ளிவாய்க்காலில் நடந்தது இனப்படுகொலை என்பதை ஏற்க மறுக்கிறார் என்ற பொய்ப் பரப்புரையை கட்டவிழ்த்து விட்டிருக்கிறார்கள். வேலிக்கு ஓணான் சாட்சி என்பது போல ததேகூ யை சேர்ந்த அனந்தி சசிதரன், பா. அரியனேந்திரன், சிவாஜிலிங்கம், கஜேந்திரன் பொன்னம்பலம் (இவர்களுக்கு பொன்னம்பலத்தின் முதல்ப் பெயர் கூட சரியாகத் தெரியவில்லை) சாட்சிக்கு இழுத்துள்ளார்கள். இந்த நால்வரையும் விட வேறு யாருமே இந்த தம்ழ்த் தலிபான்களுக்கு கிடைக்கவில்லை என்பது பெரிய சோகம்.

அதைவிடப் பெரிய சோகம் என்னவென்றால் கரி ஆனந்தசங்கரியை "அடையாளம் கண்டு பொதுவாழ்வில் இருந்து முற்று முழுதாக அப்புறப்படுத்துமாறு உரிமையோடு கேட்டுக்கொள்கின்றோம்" என அறிக்கை விடும் இந்தத் தமிழத் தலிபான்கள் கரி ஆனந்தசங்கரிக்கு எதிராக ஒரு பஞ்சாபியை ஆதரித்து பரப்புரை செய்கிறார்கள். அவரை அழைத்துச் சென்று தமிழர்களது வீட்டுக் கதவைத் தட்டி வாக்குப் பிச்சை கேட்கிறார்கள். இதைவிடக் வெட்கக் கேடு, மானக்கேடு, பச்சைத் துரோகம், காட்டிக் கொடுப்பு அதுவும் தமிழ்த் தேசியத்தின் பெயரில் வேறு எதுவும் இருக்க முடியுமா?

எனது E mail இல் கிடைக்கபெற்றது .

மக்களே விளிப்போடு இருங்கள். எது ஆடு.. எது ஓநாய்.. எது முயல்.. எது குள்ளநரி என்று ஆராய்ந்து அறிந்து வாக்களிக்கும்.. ஆதரிக்கும் நேரமிது. கூப்பாடுகள் அதிகம் இருந்தால்.. அங்கே சந்தேகங்கள் அதிகம் வைக்கப்பட்டு ஆராயப்படனும்.. என்ற சாதாரண விதியையும் புறந்தள்ளக் கூடாது.

உலகத்தமிழர் இப்படி இளையோரை வைத்து மோத முயல்வது சரியல்ல. தவிர ஹரி என்கின்ற தமிழைத் தோற்கடிப்பதன் மூலம், அந்த இடத்தை நிரப்பப் போவது ஒரு குஜராத் or பஞ்சாபியை இனத்தைச் சார்ந்தவன். அப்படி ஒரு செயலைத் தனிப்பட்ட அரசியல் கோபதாபங்களுக்கு ஏன் விதையாக்க முயல்கின்றீர்கள். இனப்படுகொலை- போர்க்குற்றம் பற்றிய மார்ச் மாதம் ஹரி வெளியிட்ட அறிக்கை பற்றி யூன் மாதம் வரை காத்திருந்து பதில் சொல்ல வேண்டிய தேவையில்லையே. ஏன் இது வரை அதற்காக நடவடிக்கையோ, விளக்கத்தையோ ஹரியிடம் கேட்கவில்லை. மே 18 மட்டுமல்லாமல், இவர்கள் நடத்துகின்ற பல நிகழ்வுகளில் ஹரி கலந்து கொண்டிருந்தார். அப்போது கூட ஒரு வார்த்தை ஹரியை நோக்கி இவர்கள் கேட்கவில்லை... இப்போது செய்ய முயல்வது அப்பட்டமான குழுச்சாண்டையின் அடையாளமே... இப்படி பிரச்சனை கிளப்புவதால் நாளைக்கு ஒரு தமிழனும் தேர்தலில் போட்டியிட்டு வெற்றி பெற முடியாது என்பதே திண்ணம்... அதைத் தான் உலகத்தமிழர் விரும்புகின்றதா??

கேவலம்... தமிழன் தோற்று... ஒரு பஞ்சாபியை or குஜராத்காரனை அரசியலில் வெற்றி பெற வைக்கும் அளவு ஏன் இப்படியான கீழ்தரமான சிந்தனை உலகத்தமிழருக்கு....

மேலும் ஆனந்த சங்கரியின் மகன் என்பதற்காக தந்தை போல மகன் நடப்பான் என்பது சுத்த அறிவீனம். தன் தாய் 80ம் ஆண்டு தந்தையை விட்டுப் பிரிந்துவிட்டதாகக் ஹரி சொல்கின்றார்... அவர் வெளியிட்ட அறிக்கை

Dear Friends,

The past few weeks have been rough—to say the least. When I announced my intention to seek the federal Liberal nomination in Scarborough Rouge Park last October, I knew it wasn’t going to be easy. I have a young family, a 3and 5 year old; but the desire to contribute to the development and growth of this country is what drove me to enter public life. I also knew that while I have worked hard on many social issues in Canada, my defining link would be to the Tamil community. I write this note now to the members of the Tamil community, to explain to you my vision for the future. 

My parents split up in 1980, and my mother and I moved to Ireland. Had it not been for fate, I may have been caught up in the 1983 pogrom in Colombo, as we were supposed to move back to Sri Lanka in July of that year. Instead, I found myself a part of anti-Black July demonstrations in Dublin with the handful of other Tamils living and studying there. Thus, since we could not go back to Sri Lanka as tensions grew and the war broke out, my mother and I sought refuge in Canada on August 31, 1983. 

It is no secret that my parents broke up in 1980—and it is no secret that I have had no relationship with my father since then. In fact, I have met him only twice since 1983, and I have disagreed fundamentally with his politics over the years. Despite these facts, some conservative, sexist segments of our community have been making all kinds of allegations about my relationship with V. Anandasangaree. If all else fails, they say, “Look, he has his father’s blood.” How do you defend against that? You can’t: you bear it, and to all those who ask how my father is, I politely reply he is fine, and move on. Our patriarchal society also prevents me from stating the truth—“sorry I don’t have a relationship with my father”. But to all those who state that my politics is same as my father’s – with respect – you couldn’t be further from the truth.

I am a Tamil nationalist—through and through. I don’t have to say it—I have lived it. I have worked on issues of Tamil rights since I was ten years old, when I used to distribute flyers for protests. I led demonstrations in Ottawa in the 1980’s. I have organized hundreds of meetings to educate other Canadians on issues relevant to our community, both here and abroad. In my adult years, I became an advocate on every major issue relating to Tamils in Canada – labeling us as terrorists, gang violence, negative portrayal in the media, challenges in the workplace, refugee issues, demonstrations, and justice and accountability in Sri Lanka. 

I fundamentally believe that Tamils living in the North and East of the island require a new political framework. This framework must be decided by Tamils who live in the North and East, and which includes many options, including a federal structure, a confederate structure, or a free independent state. I also believe this project should never again deteriorate into violence—it must be achieved within a democratic political framework. I have many close friends and family members who have died to achieve these aims; I routinely attend commemorations to honour those who died fighting for the Tamil nation, including my own family members. To honour them, we must find other ways to advance our issues.

In 2009, Tamils around the world fell into a collective depression watching our kith and kin die—die for just being Tamils. We also saw the whole world watch the unfolding genocide with a careless disdain. The LTTE was defeated, but then what of the 300,000 people that were interned? What about crimes committed? What would happen to the Tamils? How do they, and we, get justice? 

After thinking about this for weeks, my wife wrote a letter to the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights—a letter that changed the course of my life. As a result of this, we went to Geneva in March of 2009. We invited several other Tamils from different parts of the world to attend this meeting. We made our case to the UNHRC Chief, Navi Pillai. Over the course of the next five years, I went to Geneva regularly—sometimes, both Harini and our toddler and I would go. We went for one singular reason—we could do more in Geneva with our skill sets than anywhere else. Yes we could protest—and we have. We could write blogs. We could get on every stage with hundreds or even thousands of Tamils and convince ourselves that we are on the right track. We could organize conferences, spending hundreds of thousands of dollars, we could do radio shows and TV shows, do call-ins, and just speak to and amongst the Tamil community. Maybe we should have done more of that. But we didn’t.

Instead, we focused on the issue of international accountability and were relentless. No one person can take credit for the resolutions in Geneva. Some have said that even if I hadn’t taken part, these resolutions would have gone through. And they are likely right. However the point is, over the course of 30 odd visits to the UNHRC, we were pursuing what we believe to be the right path—that is to seek accountability for war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide against Tamil peoples. I have been mischaracterized on the issue of genocide. It is true that I have not said the word genocide with every other breath—I have used the term strategically. However, the fact that the current investigation includes an investigation into genocide speaks for itself—and this did not happen by accident. I have written and said that genocide took place against Tamils in Sri Lanka, and I have also explained the challenges in proving it from a legal standpoint, yet that doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t try. To all those who have singularly pointed out that I deny genocide took place, you have either been lied to, or are lying yourself and abusing an important issue for your own political ends. 

I have over the years been part of the Canadian Tamil Congress. I was Legal Counsel during some critical times, and am still a member. It is an elected organization—a Board of Directors governs it. Yet, they are some spreading ideas that I am the controlling mind of this organization. Nothing could be more nonsensical—anyone who knows me knows that, I choose to work within it because many people there are sensible and are balanced, but that I also am very critical of it when I need to be. Whatever my feelings towards it, it is certainly not under my purview. If you have issues with the organization—bring it up with them. 

Some have asked me about my involvement in Aataam. To be honest: I don’t really know what it is, and I have had no involvement in it, not that there is anything wrong with being part of it. However, I know that it is these kinds of high school-esque, petty organizational competitiveness that our community needs to stop.

I’ve been asking myself, what is all of these distractions with the intention of discrediting me really about? It’s simple—it is about control. It is about controlling our Tamil community in every way possible. It is about controlling our thinking, our media, our businesses, and our future. There are some who wish to stifle the community, to cut it down so much that it grows only in the narrow path they would choose for it. For my two daughters, I refuse to play ball!

Instead, we must build a vibrant, strong, and powerful community that commands respect from others, contributes greatly to society and to this country and advocates for justice for Tamils around the world, including both within Canada and the North and East of Sri Lanka. We need to build, and expect, leaders who are informed, articulate, and strong. We need to follow a path of non-violence and express solidarity with others who share similar struggles. We need to challenge all our latent ism’s—sexism, racism, casteism, classism, homophobia, and so on. We need to stop being only outside barricades—and be also at the table where decisions are made. All of us need to be part of this. We need to stop promoting someone just because they are Tamil—but support them because they are competent. 

For others who want to continue on this self-destructive path – our collective journey ends here. You may continue to write un-sourced stories on random websites that have no accountability. You may continue to fabricate incidents and sling mud. You may continue to defame, slander, and malign me. But ultimately, your self-proclaimed moral authority is devoid of any logic, common sense, and in the interest of the Tamil community in Canada and in the homeland.
