பரீசிலிருந்து ரொரன்ரோ வந்த பயணிகள் விமானம் இன்று மாலை ரொரன்ரோ பியசன் சர்வதேச விமானநிலையத்தில் தரையிறங்கும் போது மழையால் ஏற்ப்பட்ட வழுக்கலால் கட்டுப்பாட்டை இழந்து ஓடுபாதையை விட்டு விலகி அன்மையில் இருந்த பெருந்தெருவுக்கு அருகில் தீ பிடித்துக் கொண்டது. இதில் தெய்வாதீனமாக பயணிகள் அனைவரும் உயிர் பிழைத்துக் கொண்டனர்...

Parking lot rage linked to fatal shooting....

A fatal shooting in the city's east end on the weekend was nothing more than a "chance encounter gone terribly wrong," police said at a news conference on Aug. 02, 2005.

Police say Umathevan Thiyagarajah, 26, of Toronto, was shot dead while attempting to help his friend in a bizarre case of parking lot rage just before midnight Saturday.

....

"words were exchanged asking people to leave so they could get their vehicle out of the parking lot," said Det. Sgt. Mark Saunders.

......."These guys just wanted to get out of the parking lot and as a result a young man was killed."

Thiyagarajah who had been a passenger in the vehicle in the vehicle trying to exit the lot, was shot and killed during the confrontation. The bullet punctured his heart and lung.

Another passenger and the driver were also assaulted, police allege.

The shooter is discribed as a black male, in his mid-20s with a muscular build, who was clean shaven at the time.

The second suspect is descibed as a black male, about 20 years old

Police hope that CIBC(one of the bank) surveillance cameras will help lead them to the suspects.

Investigators are urging the driver of a getaway vehicle involved in the weekend shooting death of Umathevan Thiyagarajah to step forward and talk to police.

Detective Sergeant Mark Saunders talks to the media

"Now that the dust has settled…I think it’s time you pick a team with respect to where you’re going to go with this," Homicide Squad D/Sgt Mark Saunders said in a stern message to the getaway driver of the black Jeep Cherokee, which is described as an "immaculate" 1998 to 2000 model.

"You now know an occupant of your vehicle has killed somebody and I would urge you to step forward and to contact the police and to let us know what your accounts of this particular event are."

Thiyagarajah, 26, was gunned down in a commercial parking lot at Warden and Finch Aves at about 11:51 p.m. on July 31. An autopsy showed he died as a result of a gunshot wound to the chest. Thiyagarajah had no criminal record, police said.

He said Thiyagarajah was travelling with three other friends when they asked the drivers of three vehicles blocking the exit to move.

One man approached their vehicle and pulled the driver from the car and began beating him. When another of Thiyagarajahs friends exited the vehicle, he too, was assaulted.

Police allege that same man shot Thiyagarajah as he came to the drivers aid.

"He didnt make it," Saunders said of Thiyagarajah, who was shot trying to help his friend.

The shooter is described as a black man, with light skin, 5 9" to 5 10", his hair pulled back in corn-rows, 18 to 20 years old, with a slim build, wearing a long-sleeved white button-down shirt and black dress pants.

The second suspect who initiated the assault is described as a black man, 5 10" to 6, shaved bald head, 25 to 26 years old, clean shaven, muscular build, wearing a short sleeve shirt with a light grey sleeveless vest underneath.

The vehicles are described as a black 1998 to 2000 Jeep Cherokee with tinted windows and shiny rims. The second vehicle may have been a black large GMC SUV, possibly a Yukon. The third vehicle was an older model dark Acura Legend.

"At the time of the murder, there were numerous people present in the parking lot," Saunders said of vehicles that left the scene before officers arrived.

Man dead, 4-year-old boy wounded in shootings

One man was killed as six people were shot, including a 4-year-old boy, in two incidents in northwest Toronto last night.

"God, what's this world coming to when these guys are shooting at little kids?" a woman asked in disbelief after three adults and the youngster were sprayed with bullets in a drive-by shooting on Driftwood Court, near Jane St. and Finch Ave. W., at about 10 p.m. Two men were later questioned after two handguns were seized.

About two hours earlier, a 24-year-old man died from a gunshot wound to the head when a barbecue turned violent on John Garland Blvd., near Martin Grove Rd. and Finch Ave. W. A second man, a friend of the victim, was shot in the leg.

Police were looking for four men who fled in a compact car.

The slain man, a construction worker who a friend said lived in Mississauga, was with a group of about eight people at a barbecue at the townhouse complex.

Residents heard seven to 10 gunshots in rapid succession following a shouting match.

Police found numerous shell casings on the street.

The deceased, known as John, was pronounced dead on the scene. He is Toronto's 39th homicide victim of the year.

His friend was listed in serious but stable condition in hospital.

As police were searching for suspects and questioning witnesses at that shooting, two men in a slow-moving vehicle opened fire on a group of people outside the Driftwood Court townhouse.

A 4-year-old boy was struck by two bullets; a man and two women were also shot.

Dozens of people stood behind police lines watching in shock as ambulance attendants treated the four victims in the front yard of the Driftwood townhouse.

The boy and a 59-year-old woman, shot in the leg, were taken to Humber River Regional Hospital's York-Finch site.

The child was later transferred to Sick Kids hospital, where he was in critical condition last night. One of the two bullets that struck him in the legs travelled to his stomach, police said.

A 20-year-old man was taken to Sunnybrook hospital with a back wound and a 36-year-old woman was taken to William Osler Hospital with a leg injury.

கனடா ரொரன்ரோவில் நேற்று அதிகாலை 12.30 மணியளவில் (செப்ரம்பர்-28 ) ஏற்ப்பட்ட வாகன விபத்தில் இரு தமிழர்கள் கொல்லப்பட்டனர். வேலை முடிந்து வீடு திரும்பிக் கொண்டிருந்தவர்களே இவ்வாறு கொல்லப்பட்டவர்களாவார். வாகனத்தை அதிவேகமாக செலுத்தியதே இவ்விபத்துக்கு காரணம் என அறிப்படுகின்றது. கார் விபத்து இடம் பெற்றவுடன் கார் தீ பிடித்து எரியத்தொடங்கியதாகவும். இருவரது உடல்களும் கருகிபோனதால்.. நேற்று மதியம் வரை அடையாளம் காணப்படமால் இருந்ததாகவும் அறியப்படுகின்றது. கொல்லப்பட்டவர்களில் ஒருவர் கஜன் என்று அறிகியபப்டுகின்றது. இது பற்றி காவல் துறையினர் தெரிவிக்கையில்: இச்சம்பவம் லைன் மாற்றும் போது அவர்கள் தமது கட்டுப்பாட்டை இழந்திருக்கின்றனர். என தாம் நம்புவதாக சொன்னார்கள்.
