லண்டன் கீத்ரு விமான நிலையத்திற்கு அருகிலுள்ள கார்மன்வேத் தடுப்பு முகாமில் தடுத்து வைக்கப்பட்டுள்ள 28 தமிழ் இளைஞர்கள் நேற்று சனிக்கிழமை முதல் உண்ணாவிரதப் போராட்டத்தில் ஈடுபட்டுள்ளதாக அங்கிருந்து கிடைக்கும் தகவல்கள் தெரிவிக்கின்றன.

இலங்கையின் தற்போதய அரசியல் நெருக்கடி நிலைமை காரணமாக லண்டன் சென்று புகலிடம் கோரிய நிலையில் கார்மன்வேத் தடுப்பு முகாமில் தடுத்து வைக்கப்பட்டுள்ள இலங்கை தமிழ் இளைஞர்கள் 28 பேரே இந்த உண்ணாவிரதப் போராட்டத்தில் நேற்று முதல் ஈடுபட்டுள்ளனர்.

இலங்கையில் தொடரும் தற்போதைய மிக மோசமான நிலைமைகளுக்கு மத்தியில் தம்மை நாடு கடத்த வேண்டாமெனக் கோரியே இவர்கள் இந்த உண்ணாவிரதப் போராட்டத்தை ஆரம்பித்துள்ளதாகவும் அங்கிருந்து கிடைக்கும் தகவல்கள் தெரிவிக்கின்றன.

இதேவேளை இந்த முகாமில் தடுத்து வைக்கப்பட்டுள்ள யாழ்ப்பாணம் சில்லாலையைச் சேர்ந்த சுப்பிரமணியம் அலோசியஸ் என்ற இளைஞன் கடந்த சில தினங்களாக உண்ணாவிரதப் போராட்டத்தில் ஈடுபட்டு வருவதாகவும் தெரிவிக்கப்படுகின்றது.

இதேவேளை இந்த முகாமில் தடுத்துவைக்கப்பட்டிருந்த எஸ்.சாந்தரூபன் என்ற இளைஞர் கடந்த 18 ஆம் திகதி புதன்கிழமை யூ.எல் 504 என்ற விமானத்தில் இலங்கைக்கு நாடு கடத்தப்பட்டுள்ளதாகவும் தெரிவிக்கப்படுகின்றது.

தினக்குரல்

இங்கு சில காலத்துக்கு முன்னர் "தமிழ் அகதிகளூக்கான அமைப்பு" திருப்பி அனுப்புவதற்கெதிராக சில போராட்டங்களை மேற்கொண்டது. தற்போது எங்கு சென்று விட்டார் என்பதே தெரியவில்லை. இங்கு இரு தமிழ்த்தேசிய ஆதரவாளர்கள் கைது செய்யப்பட்டதுடன் பயந்து விட்டார்கள் போலிருக்கிறது.

ஆனால் இங்கிருந்து எம்மவர்களை திருப்பியனுப்பும் நடவடிக்கை முழு மூச்சில் நடைபெறுகிறதாம். அதற்கு இலங்கை அரசும் முழு ஒத்துழைப்பும் வழங்குவதாகவும், பதிலாக இலங்கை அரசின் மனித உரிமை மீறல்கள், நிதியுதவிகளை நிறுத்துதல், ஆயுத விற்பனைகளில் இலங்கை அரசுக்கு சாதகமாக நடக்க இலங்கை அரசும் எதிர் பார்ப்பதாகவும் தெரிகிறது.

ஈழத்தமிழர்களை திருப்பி அனுப்புவதற்கெதிரான எமது குரல்களை கொடுக்கத் தவறின், திருப்பி அனுப்புவது முழு வேகத்தில் நடைபெறத் தொடங்கி விடும்.

எங்கே? எங்கள் யாழ்கள மனிதநேயக்கூட்டம் ("ஆடு நனைகிறதென்று அழும் ஓநாய்கள்") குரல் கொடுக்கின்றதா எனப் பார்ப்போம்???

A Sri Lankan Tamil immigrant has launched a hunger strike against a deportation order by British authorities.

Subramaniyam Alosius Jude Christie, 44, has launched his protest on 09 July in Harmondsworth Immigration Removal Centre, in Middlesex, against his removal from the United Kingdom.

A resident of northern Sri Lankan town of Jaffna, Subramanium says his life is in danger if the UK authorities send him back to Sri Lanka under current circumstances.

"In Sri Lanka, peace talks have collapsed. Every Tamil is regarded as Tamil Tiger," he told BBC Sandeshaya.

He was arrested and sent to infamous Boossa detention camp, he says, where he was tortured by security force personnel.

Some Internally Displaced People (IDPs) have fled to neighboring Tamil Nadu.

Tamil ministers in the Mahinda Rajapaksa government have accused security forces of detaining Tamils in Boosa camp without charging them.

இலங்கைக்கு திருப்பி அனுப்பப்பட விருக்கின்றனர் எனக் கூறப்படும் 29 இலங் கைத் தமிழ் அகதிகள் லண்டனிலுள்ள தடுப்பு முகாம் ஒன்றில் உண்ணாவிரதப் போராட்டம் மேற்கொண்டு வருகிறார்கள்.

மத்திய லண்டனில் இந்தத் தடுப்பு முகாமிலுள்ள 29 அகதிகளும் இன்று பிரிட் டனிலிருந்து மீளவும் இலங்கைக்கு திருப்பி அனுப்பப்படவுள்ளனர் எனச் செய்திகள் வெளியாகியுள்ளன.

ஏற்கனவே, ஜூலை 9ஆம் திகதி யாழ்ப் பாணத்தைச் சேர்ந்த இரண்டு தமிழ் அகதி கள் சாகும்வரை உண்ணாவிரதம் மேற் கொண்டு வருகிறார்கள். சுப்பிரமணியம் அலோசியஸ் ஜூட் கிறிஸ்டி மற்றும் கோபாலசாமி இளையராஜா ஆகிய இந்த இரு தமிழர்களும் மோதல்கள் மிகுந்துள்ள வடக்கு இலங்கையிலிருந்து பிரிட்டன் வந்து அகதி அந்தஸ்து வழங்கும்படி சமர்ப் பித்திருந்த மனுக்கள் அதிகாரிகளால் நிரா கரிக்கப்பட்டதைத் தொடர்ந்து லண்டனி லுள்ள ஹொர்மொன்ஸ்வோர்த் அகதி முகா மில் தடுத்துவைக்கப்பட்டனர். அதன் பின்னர் அவர்கள் இலங்கைக்குத் திரும்பிச் செல்ல மறுத்து உண்ணாவிரதம் ஆரம்பித் தனர். அதே முகாமிலிருந்து மேலும் 27 அகதிகள் கடந்த சனிக்கிழமை அவர்களுடன் சேர்ந்து சாகும்வரை உண்ணாவிரதத்தை ஆரம்பித்தனர். இதனால் அதிகாரிகளுக்கு அகதிகள் பிரச்சினை மேலும் சிக்கலுக்குள்ளாகியுள்ளது.

மோசமடைந்துவரும்

அகதிகளின் உடல் நிலை

ஜூலை 9ஆம் திகதி உண்ணாவிரதத்தை ஆரம்பித்த அகதிகள் இருவரும் எதுவித ஆகாராமோ, தண்ணீரோ அருந்தாமல் இருந்து வருகின்றனர். அவர்களின் உடல் நிலை மோசமடைந்துவருவதாகக் கூறப்படுகின்றது.

இலங்கையில் மோதல்கள் இடம்பெறுவதாலும், திரும்பிச் சென்றால் இலங்கை அதிகாரிகளால் கைதுசெய்யப்படலாம் என்று அஞ்சுவதாலும் மீண்டும் இலங்கைக்குத் திரும்ப அவர்கள் மறுத்து வருகின்றார்கள்.

அகதிகளைப் பார்ப்பதற்கு உறவினர்களும் நண்பர்களும் அனுமதிக்கப்படுகிறார்கள். குறித்த இரு அகதிகளும் ஜூன் 24ஆம் திகதி நாடுகடத்தப்படவிருந்தனர். ஆனால் அவர்களிடமிருந்து கடும் எதிர்ப்பு ஏற்பட்ட தால் நாடுகடத்துவது இன்றைய தினத்துக்கு ஒத்திவைக்கப்பட்டது.

ஏற்கனவே இவ்வாறு பிரிட்டனிலிருந்து திருப்பி அனுப்பப்பட்ட தமிழ் அகதியொருவர் இலங்கை அதிகாரிகளால் கைது செய்யப்பட்டு நீர்கொழும்பு சிறைச்சாலையில் வைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளார் எனச் செய்திகள் தெரிவிக்கின்றன.

உயிருக்கு அஞ்சி அகதிஅந்தஸ்து கோரிவருபவர்கள் விடயத்தில் பிரிட்டிஷ் அரசாங்கம் அகதிகள் தொடர்பான சர்வதேச ஒப்பந்தங்களுக்கு மாறாக செயல்படுவதாக "எல்லைகள் அற்ற' மனித உரிமைகள் அமைப்பு கண்டனம் தெரிவித்துள்ளது.

ஈழம் கேட்க வெளிக்கிட்டது தமிழர்கள் நிம்மதியா தமிழீழத்தில வாழனும் என்று. இப்ப என்னடான்னா அந்த ஈழப்போராட்டம் தமிழர்கள் எப்படியாவது ஐரோப்பாவில கனடாவில அவுஸ்திரேலியாவில செற்றிலாகனும் என்றதுக்காக மாறிட்டு வந்திட்டுது. அதால வன்னில போராட ஆட்பற்றாக்குறை நிலவும் அதேவேளை வீட்டுக்கு ஒருவர் வா என்று கட்டாயம் ஆட்களை இழுக்க வேண்டிய நிலை வந்திட்டுது. இவை சிங்களவர்களைப் பொறுத்தவரை இந்தப் போராட்டத்தை இவ்வளவு காலத்துக்கு இழுத்தடிச்சதன் வெற்றி..! போராட்டத்தின் வீழ்ச்சி..!

Members of the Tamil Lawyers Association had an emergency meeting at the Tharisanam TV office to discuss the situation. Chairman of the TLA Mr Kris Savanan chaired the meeting and after long discussion the members of the TLA decided to contact the British Political leaders and request them to stop sending the asylum seekers back home until the situation improves in Sri Lanka. Mr Sivagilingam a Sri Lankan Parliamentarian attended the meeting and briefed on the current security situation in Sri Lanka. The Tamil Lawyers Association will be releasing a Press release tomorrow on this matter. They spoke by phone to some of the immigrants in the removal centre and Mr Ranjith a asylum seeker who was released that afternoon from Tinsley House Immigration Removal Centre. Ranjith said that although they were well treated in the Centre the inmates were depressed and needed urgent help. Mr Sujeevan from Tinsley House Immigration Removal Centre tried to kill him self yesterday because of fear of being sent back, He was taken to hospital immediately and the doctors managed to save him. He had been sent back to the centre but his inmates informed the Tharisanam TV that he was safe but was unable to talk due to illness. Another asylum seeker at Harmondsworth Immigration Removal Centre who fell ill due to hunger strike was temporarily sent to his sister’s home in Harrow when his sister visited the centre. Councilor Thaya Iddaikader visited this centre today and spoke to the asylum seekers. .

Tharisanam TV: learns that another Tamil refugee who was deported from London last week was arrested in Sri Lanka and is being detained in Negombo. CID sources at the Katunayake international airport confirmed that the Mr Sivaruban who was sent back to Sri Lanka was arrested on the 18th of this month (Flight UL504) and placed under detention in Negombo.

Tharisanam TV spoke to Maharajan this morning at 9.40 am and he said that 15 from C Block and 13 from D Block ARE ON HUNGER STRIKE since Saturday afternoon. More that 100 detainees from different countries are in the said Harmondsworth refugee detention centre.

Tharisanam TV spoke to the newly elected Member of Parliament for Southall Mr Virendra Sharma in his resident this morning who promised to speak to his senior members and personally go to Harmondsworth refugee detention centre and meet these asylum seekers. He also said that he was aware of the unsafe situation in Sri Lanka and also that Asylum seekers who were returned to Sri Lanka were arrested and tortured by the Sri Lankan forces and also about a asylum seeker who had died in police station in Sri Lanka.

நேற்றைய தினம் Harmonsworth Immigration Removal Centre இல் உண்ணாவிரதிகளை பெரும் முயற்சியின் பின் லண்டன் தமிழ் கவுன்ஸிலர் திரு தயா இடைக்காடர் சந்தித்ததாக தெரிகிறது. மிகவும் வாடிய நிலையில் எம்மவர்கள் அங்கு உண்ணாவிரதத்தை தொடர்வதாகக் கூறினார். நேற்றைய தினம் உண்ணாவிரதிகளில் ஓர் இளைஞர் விடுதலை செய்யப்பட்டதாகவும் தெரிகிறது. இன்றுவரை எமது லண்டனிலுள்ள அமைப்புகளோ, மனித உரிமை நிறுவனங்களோ எந்தவொரு உருப்படியான நடவடிக்கையும் எடுத்ததாகத் தெரியவில்லை.

சில உருப்படியான விளிப்புப் போராட்டங்களை நடத்துவதன் மூலம் இங்கிருந்து சிறிலங்காவிற்கு ஈழத்தமிழர்கள் நாடு கடத்துவன் மூலம் அவர்களின் உயிர்களுக்கு ஆபத்து ஏற்படலாம் என்பதை தொடர்ச்சியாக நாங்கள் தெரிவிக்க வேண்டும்.

Foreign Ministry seeks report from London

The Foreign Ministry has sought a detailed report from the Sri Lankan Embassy in London on the reported hunger strike by Sri Lankans at detention centres in Britain and has also sought information from the British Foreign Office, Foreign Ministry sources told the Daily Mirror yesterday.

Meanwhile the Daily Mirror has learnt that the protest which began at the Harmondsworth Immigration Removal Centre last week has spread to several other detention centres around Britain including Hampshire, Cambridgeshire and Gatwick.

“So far we have not got any information on the said hunger strike but we are still following it up. We contacted the British Embassy here, the Sri Lankan Embassy in London and the British Foreign Office,” a Foreign Ministry official said.

Meanwhile the BBC reported that there were about 28 detainees on hunger strike at Harmondsworth in London, 23 were refusing food at Oakington, Cambridgeshire and 10 were protesting at Haslar, Hampshire.

A Government spokeswoman said staff cannot force detainees to eat as it would be seen as an assault.

The spokeswoman said: “The situation remains calm at all three centres and the Border and Immigration Agency is actively engaging with detainees to discuss their concerns. “Detention is an essential element in the effective enforcement of immigration control. We are unable to force detainees to eat or drink as this would be against their wishes and would be classed as an assault. We do ensure, however, that they receive medical treatment as and when necessary.”

Earlier on July 9, two Tamil Jaffna residents, Subramaniam Aloysius Jude Christy and Kobalasamy Illayarajah who had sought refugee status in Britain after fleeing the conflict in the North started a fast unto death as their applications had been turned down and they were subsequently placed at the Harmondsworth refugee detention centre in London. However by Saturday a further 27 Sri Lankan Tamils at the same detention centre joined in the strike further complicating the issue for the British authorities.

Latest reports from London said that members of the Tamil Lawyers Association in London met on Tuesday to discuss the latest developments. The group decided to contact British political leaders and request them to stop sending the asylum seekers back home until the situation improves in Sri Lanka. TNA Parliamentarian S. Sivagilingam also attended the meeting. One detainee at the Tinsley House Immigration Removal Centre had reportedly tried to kill himself because of fear of being sent back to Sri Lanka, reports said. Another asylum seeker at the Harmondsworth Immigration Removal Centre who fell ill due to hunger strike was temporarily sent to his sister’s home in Harrow when his sister visited the centre. The detainees are insisting they will not return to Sri Lanka because of the conflict and fear of maybe being arrested by Sri Lankan authorities once they return, a civilian source in London told The Daily Mirror earlier this week after speaking to one of the detainees.

One such detainee who was deported from London last week was arrested in Sri Lanka and is being detained in Negombo. CID sources at the Katunayake international airport confirmed to the Daily Mirror that the immigrant was arrested on the 18th of this month and placed under detention in Negombo.

Statement on Forcible Removal of Hunger Striking Tamil

Asylum Seekers to Sri Lanka

Tamil Lawyers’ Association (UK) is extremely concerned over reports that Tamil Asylum Seekers on Hunger Strike at Harmonsworth Immigration Removal Centre, Haslar Immigration Removal Centre, Oakington Reception Centre and Tinsley House Immigration Removal Centre are being forcibly removed to Sri Lanka by British immigration authorities.

Sri Lankan Tamils face extreme human rights violations in the island, including abductions, disappearances, torture, extra-judicial killings and arbitrary detention. State officers and the security forces enjoy wide powers under draconian legislation such as Emergency Regulations and the Prevention of Terrorism Act and are free to commit violations with impunity. Hundreds of Tamils, including Tamils in the capital Colombo, have been abducted by the security forces for ransom, many of whom have been murdered in custody.

These violations are not investigated and according to human rights workers, the Sri Lankan government is directly involved in the abuses. Tamil asylum seekers, if returned would face persecution at the hands of the Sri Lankan authorities. The Sri Lankan State machinery, Police, Judiciary, and armed forces are ninety nine percent (99%) Sinhalese and returning Tamil asylum seekers cannot depend on them for their protection. In the situation that prevails in Sri Lanka, they cannot return in safety and dignity.

The British Foreign and Commonwealth Office has cautioned travellers to Sri Lanka and UNHCR has stated that all asylum claims of Tamils from the North or East should be favourably considered and where the individual does not fulfil the refugee criteria under the 1951 Convention, a complementary form of protection should be granted in light of the prevailing situation of armed conflict and generalised violence in the north and east.

In these circumstances, the Tamil Lawyers’ Association (UK) urges the British Immigration Authorities to suspend all deportations of Tamil asylum seekers to Sri Lanka and give primacy to safety of asylum seekers.

பிரித்தானியாவில் சிறிலங்காவுக்கு தங்களை திருப்பி அனுப்பக் கூடாது என்று தடுப்பு முகாம்களில் உள்ள ஈழத் தமிழர்கள் தொடர்ந்து உண்ணாநிலைப் போராட்டம் நடத்தி வருகின்றனர்.

ஹார்மன்ட்ஸ்வேர்த் தடுப்பு முகாமில் உள்ளோர் இந்தப் போராட்டத்தை தொடங்கி வைத்தனர். அதனைத் தொடர்ந்து ஹம்ப்ஸைர், கேம்பிரிட்ஸைர் மற்றும் ஹேட்விக் ஆகிய தடுப்பு முகாம்களில் உள்ள ஈழத் தமிழர்களும் இந்தப் போராட்டத்தில் ஈடுபட்டு வருகின்றனர்.

ஹார்மன்ட்ஸ்வேர்த் தடுப்பு முகாமில் 28 பேரும் ஓகிங்ரனில் 23, கேம்பிரிட்ஸைர் மற்றும் ஹம்ப்ஸைர் முகாம்களில் 10 பேரும் உண்ணாநிலைப் போராட்டத்தை நடத்தி வருகின்றனர்.

கடந்த ஜூலை 9ஆம் நாள் அகதிகள் அந்தஸ்து நிராகரிக்கப்பட்ட யாழ்ப்பாணத்தைச் சேர்ந்த சுப்பிரமணியம் அலோசியஸ் ஜுட் கிறிஸ்டி மற்றும் கோபால்சாமி இளையராஜா ஆகியோர் ஹார்மன்ட்ஸ்வேர்த் முகாமில் தடுத்து வைக்கப்பட்டனர். தங்களை சிறிலங்காவுக்கு திருப்பி அனுப்ப எதிர்ப்புத் தெரிவித்து இருவரும் உண்ணாநிலைப் போராட்டத்தை முதலில் தொடங்கினர். அவர்களைத் தொடர்ந்து தடுப்பு முகாம்களில் உள்ள பிற ஈழத் தமிழர்களும் உண்ணாநிலைப் போராட்டத்தில் ஈடுபட்டு வருகின்றனர்.

இது தொடர்பில் பிரித்தானியாவில் உள்ள தமிழ் சட்டத்தரணிகள் அமைப்பு தனது கவலையை வெளியிட்டுள்ளது.

அந்த அமைப்பில் தலைவர் கிரிஸ் சரவணன் வெளியிட்டுள்ள அறிக்கை:

இலங்கைத் தீவில் ஈழத் தமிழர்கள் பாரிய மனித உரிமைகளுக்கு முகம் கொடுத்து வருகின்றனர். கடத்தல்கள், காணாமல் போதல்கள், சித்திரவதைகள், நீதிக்குப் புறம்பான படுகொலைகள் என பல்வேறு மனித உரிமை மீறல்கள் அங்கு நிகழ்கின்றன. அவசரகாலச் சட்டம், பயங்கரவாதத் தடுப்புச் சட்டம் ஆகியவற்றின் மூலம் சிறிலங்கா அரச அதிகாரிகளும் சிறிலங்கா இராணுவ அதிகாரிகளும் பாரிய அதிகாரங்களை கையில் வைத்துக்கொண்டு இத்தகைய மீறல்களில் ஈடுபடுகின்றனர். சிறிலங்காவின் தலைநகர் கொழும்பு உள்ளிட்ட பல்வேறு இடங்களில் நூற்றுக்கணக்கான தமிழர்கள் பணத்துக்காக கடத்தப்படுகின்றனர். படுகொலை செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளனர்.

இத்தகைய வன்முறைகளில் சிறிலங்கா அரசாங்கம் நேரடியாக ஈடுபடுவதால் எதுவித விசாரணைகளும் மேற்கொள்ளப்படுவதில்லை என்று மனிதாபிமான பணியாளர்கள் தெரிவித்துள்ளனர்.

சிறிலங்கா அரசாங்கம், நிர்வாகம், காவல்துறை, நீதித்துறை மற்றும் இராணுவம் ஆகியவற்றில் 99 விழுக்காட்டினர் சிங்களவர்களே உள்ளனர். அப்படியான நிலையில் அகதிகள் அந்தஸ்து கோரியோரை சிறிலங்காவிடம் ஒப்படைத்தால் அவர்கள் பாதுகாப்பாகவும் கண்ணியமாகவும் வாழ முடியாது.

சிறிலங்காவுக்கு செல்லும் பயணிகளுக்கு பிரித்தானிய வெளிவிவகார அமைச்சு ஏற்கெனவே எச்சரிக்கையும் விடுத்திருக்கிறது. இலங்கையின் வடக்கு மற்றும் கிழக்கிலிருந்து வெளியேறும் தமிழர்கள் அகதிகள் அந்தஸ்து கோரும் விடயத்தை சாதகமாக பரிசீலிக்குமாறு ஐக்கிய நாடுகள் சபையின் அகதிகள் ஆணையமும் வலியுறுத்தியுள்ளது.

ஆகையால் சிறிலங்காவுக்கு ஈழத் தமிழர்களை திருப்பி அனுப்புவதை பிரித்தானிய குடியேற்ற அதிகாரிகள் இடை நிறுத்தி அகதி அந்தஸ்து கோரியோர் பாதுகாப்பாக வாழ நடவடிக்கை மேற்கொள்ளப்பட வேண்டும் என்று அவர் வலியுறுத்தியுள்ளார்.

However, enforced deportations from the centers are continuing regardless of the now weeklong protest, they said. Pointing out that Britain has cautioned her citizens against traveling to Sri Lanka, the hunger strikers want the authorities to halt forcible returns of asylum applicants. Tamils are being killed every day there. நேற்றைய தினம் Harmonsworth Immigration Removal Centre இல் உண்ணாவிரதிகளை பெரும் முயற்சியின் பின் லண்டன் தமிழ் கவுன்ஸிலர் திரு தயா இடைக்காடர் சந்தித்ததாக தெரிகிறது. மிகவும் வாடிய நிலையில் எம்மவர்கள் அங்கு உண்ணாவிரதத்தை தொடர்வதாகக் கூறினார். நேற்றைய தினம் உண்ணாவிரதிகளில் ஓர் இளைஞர் விடுதலை செய்யப்பட்டதாகவும் தெரிகிறது. இன்றுவரை எமது லண்டனிலுள்ள அமைப்புகளோ, மனித உரிமை நிறுவனங்களோ எந்தவொரு உருப்படியான நடவடிக்கையும் எடுத்ததாகத் தெரியவில்லை.

I am sure you are fully aware that about 80 detainees are on a hunger strike at various removal centres. I have just heard one of them at Oakington, Mr Hariharan Makhadavan, port ref: TN4/113011, 5 Madeira Road, Mitchcham, Surrey. CR4 4HD, has fainted and receiving medical attention. There are about twenty Sri Lankan detainees at this camp. Another one at Tinsley House Removal Centre has tried to commit suicide and he is receiving treatment at a psychiatric ward. Obviously you would join me to prevent any loss of life. They do not want to be deported or removed as they fear for their lives in Sri Lanka.

One good example is the following:

He was deported by Srilankan Airways, flight number UL504 at 21.35 hrs on 18 July 2007. On arrival he was arrested at Colombo International airport and now in custody. I understand that even his mother is not being allowed to see him. Another returnee who was detained at Colombo airport since July 2006 after being returned by the UK committed suicide at the airport detention room on 10th September 2006 according to leading Colombo newspaper Virakesari.

However the Australian Hotham Mission Report of October 2006 states that he died in custody following torture. Another asylum seeker who was returned by the UK Government was allegedly killed by the agents of the Sri Lankan state on 20 August 2006 according to UTHR, a human rights organisation based in Sri Lanka. According to a letter dated 26 September 2005 from the British High Commission to Home Office�s Country of Origin Information Service, there was an on going case of a detention in Negombo Prison of an individual who claims to have been returned by the UK. However, the British High Commission letters sent to the Home Office subsequently do not provide any information as to what happed to this returnee.

The International Organisation for Migrants (IOM) has told the Australian Hotham Mission that they are aware of returnees not assisted by their program being arrested and harassed on or soon after arrival, particularly in cases where the returnee no longer holds a National Identity Card i.e. enforced returnees being arrested and harassed on or soon after arrival in Sri lanka. I am therefore really concerned that our Government removes or deports Sri Lankan Tamils to Sri Lanka but then fails to investigate when there is evidence that they had been detained, ill treated or killed.

All detainees on hunger strike are requesting not to be deported until peace returns to Sri Lanka and it is safe for them to return. I am writing this to you as labour councillor. I represent about 2,500 Tamils in my ward and perhaps about 300,000 Country wide. This is no doubt a political issue for many elected Labour politicians. I therefore urge the Government to place a moratorium on the removal and deportation of Sri Lankas during the present sharp deterioration in the security and human rights situation in Sri Lanka.

I am also concerned that you have included Sri Lanka asylum seekers as suitable for detained 'super fast-track' asylum model based in Harmondsworth and Yarls Wood Detention Centres despite the removal of Sri Lanka from 'White List' safe countries in December 2006. I therefore urge the Government to remove Sri Lanka from its 'list' of countries deemed suitable for 'super-fast track' asylum model based in Harmondsworth and Yarls Wood. I am not sure how we can return any one to a Country not in the 'white list'. Would you please consider this request very urgently?

தஞ்சமடைந்துள்ள இலங்கையர்களை பிரித்தானியா திருப்பி அனுப்புமானால் அது ஒரு இனத்தின் அழிவிற்கு வித்திடும் என அமைச்சர் பி.சந்திரசேகரன் தெரிவித்துள்ளார். இலங்கையில் தற்சமயம் ஏற்பட்டுள்ள போர்ச் சூழல் காரணமாக தமிழர்கள் அரசியல் தஞ்சம் கோருகின்றனர்.

இலங்கையில் நிலவும் அரசியல் நெருக்கடிக்கு மத்தியில் அவர்கள் திருப்பியனுப்பப்பட்டால், அவர்களின் உயிருக்கு பாதகம் ஏற்படக் கூடும். இந்த நிலையில், இரண்டு நாடுகளும் பேச்சுவார்த்தை நடத்தி திருப்பி அனுப்பப்படுவோருக்கு உயிர் உத்தரவாதம் வழங்கப்படுமாக இருந்தால், அதனை சாதகமான காரணமாக ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளலாம்.

லண்டனில் உண்ணாவிரதமிருக்கும் பலரின் உடல் நிலை ஆபத்தான நிலையில்!

பிரிட்டனில் 4 தடுப்பு முகாம்களில் சாகும்வரை உண்ணாவிரதம் மேற்கொண்டு வருபவர்களில் சிலரின் உடல் நிலை மிக வும் மோசமடைந்துள்ளதாகத் தகவல்கள் தெரிவிக்கின்றன.

சிலர் வைத்தியசாலையில் அனுமதிக் கப்பட்டு சிகிச்சை அளிக்கப்பட்டு வருவ தாகவும் தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டது.

அகதி அந்தஸ்து கோரி சமர்ப்பிக்கப் பட்ட விண்ணப்பங்கள் நிராகரிக்கப்பட்டு, இலங்கைக்கு திருப்பி அனுப்புவதற்கு ஆயத்தமாக 61 பேர் நான்கு தடுப்பு முகாம் களில் வைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளனர்.

தம்மை இலங்கைக்கு திருப்பி அனுப்ப வேண்டாம் எனக் கோரி அவர்கள் கடந்த 24ஆம் திகதி தொடக்கம் உண்ணாவிரதம் மேற்கொண்டு வருகின்றனர்.

அவர்களில் சிலரின் நிலை மோசமாக இருப்பதாக பிரிட்டன் தமிழ் சட்டத்தரணி கள் சங்கம் அரசின் கவனத்துக்குக் கொண்டு வந்துள்ளது. இவ்விடயம் அகதிகளுக்கான ஐ.நா. தூதரகத்தின் கவனத்துக்கும் கொண்டு செல்லப்பட்டுள்ளது.

பிரிட்டனிலிருந்து இலங்கைக்கு நாடு கடத்தப்படுவதற்கு எதிர்ப்புத் தெரிவித்து, பிரிட்டனின் பல்வேறு தடுப்பு முகாம்களிலும் சாகும்வரை உண்ணாவிரதப் போராட்டத்தில் குதித்துள்ள நூற்றுக்கும் மேற்பட்ட ஈழத் தமிழர்களில் பலரது உடல் நிலை கவலைக்கிடமாயிருப்பதாகத் தெரிவிக்கப்படுகிறது.

இலங்கையில் மிக மோசமான மனித உரிமை மீறல்கள் இடம் பெறுவதை சர்வதேச சமூகம் கடுமையாகக் கண்டித்து வரும் நிலையிலும் பிரிட்டனில் தஞ்சக் கோரிக்கை நிராகரிக்கப்பட்ட தமிழர்களை இலங்கைக்கு திருப்பியனுப்புவதில் பிரிட்டிஷ் அரசு கடும் போக்கை கடைப்பிடித்து வருகிறது.

அகதிகள் அந்தஸ்து கோரிக்கை நிராகரிக்கப்பட்டவர்கள் தினமும் பிரிட்டனிலிருந்து இலங்கைக்கு நாடு கடத்தப்பட்டு வருகின்றனர்.

நாடு கடத்தப்படுவதற்காக பல்வேறு தடுப்பு முகாம்களிலும் நூற்றுக்கும் மேற்பட்டோர் தடுத்து வைக்கப்பட்டு நாடு கடத்தப்பட்டு வருகின்றனர்.

இலங்கையில் நிலைமை மிக மோசமாயிருப்பதால் தங்களைத் திருப்பி அனுப்ப வேண்டாமென்றும் தங்களது தஞ்சக் கோரிக்கை மனுவை மீள் பரிசீலனை செய்யுமாறும் இவர்கள் பல்வேறு கோரிக்கைகளை விடுத்திருந்த போதும் பிரிட்டிஷ் அரசு அதனை நிராகரித்து விட்டது.

இதையடுத்து கடந்த வாரம் பல்வேறு தடுப்பு முகாம்களிலும் நூற்றுக்கும் மேற்பட்டோர் சாகும் வரை உண்ணாவிரதப் போராட்டத்தில் குதித்தனர்.

ஹாமோன்ஸ்வேர்த் தடுப்பு முகாமில் 28 பேரும், ஒகிங்ரன் தடுப்புமுகாமில் 23 பேரும், ஹஸ்லர் தடுப்பு முகாமில் 10 பேரும் ஏனைய பல முகாம்களில் குறிப்பிட்டளவானோரும் இந்தப் போராட்டத்தில் குதித்துள்ளனர்.

இவர்களில் பலரது உடல் நிலை மிக மோசமாகப் பாதிக்கப்பட்டு ஆஸ்பத்திரிகளில் அனுமதிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளனர். சிலர் ஆபத்தான நிலையிலிருப்பதாகவும் தெரிவிக்கப்படுகிறது.

உண்ணாவிரதிகளில் ஒருவர் தற்கொலை செய்யவும் முயன்றுள்ளார்.

தங்களைத் திருப்பியனுப்பும் முடிவை பிரிட்டிஷ் அரசு மாற்றும் வரை தங்களது இந்தப் போராட்டம் தொடருமெனவும் அறிவித்துள்ளதுடன் இதனை நிறுத்துமாறு விடுக்கப்பட்ட கோரிக்கைகளையும் அவர்கள் நிராகரித்துள்ளனர்.
