வரலாற்றுத் துரோகம் - கருணா

இலங்கையில் வாழும் ஈழத்தமிழர்களினது மனங்களை மட்டுமல்லாமல்இ உலகம் முழுவதும் பரந்து வாழும் அனைத்து ஈழத்தமிழர்களினதும் மனங்களைக் கடந்த சில நாள்களாக அரித்துக் கொண்டிருந்த விடயம் தொடர்பாக விடுதலைப் புலிகளின் அரசியல் தலைமை தீர்க்க மான - திட்டவட்டமான - சில முடிவுகளை எடுத்து அறி வித்திருக்கிறது.

மட்டு.இ அம்பாறை தளபதியாக இருந்த கருணா கடந்த சில நாள்களாக நடந்துகொண்ட விதமும்இ எடுத்த நடவடிக்கைகளும் தமிழீழ மக்களை அதிர்ச்சியிலும்இ ஆழ்ந்த கவலையிலும் மூழ்கடித்தன.இந்த விவகாரத்தில் மக்களைப் பொறுத்தவரை அவர் களை வேதனையில் மூழ்கடித்த விடயங்கள் ஐந்து.

ஒன்று - அமைப்பில் உயர்ந்த இடம் வழங்கப்பட்ட ஒரு மூத்த தளபதியின் திடீர்த் துரோகத்தனம்.

இரண்டு - ஈழத்தமிழ் மக்களின் போராட்டத்துக்கு விரோதமான தீய சக்திகளின் துண்டுதலுக்கு விலை போனமை.

மூன்று - தமது அதிகார ஆசையையும் துரோகத் தனத்தையும் வெற்றிகரமாக நிறைவேற்றுவதற்காக ஐக்கியப்பட்டிருக்கும் ஈழத்தமிழினத்தின் மத்தியில் பிரதேச வாதப் பிரிவினையையும் வெறியையும் விதிக்க முயன்றமை.

நான்கு - மீண்டும் கிழக்குப் போராளிகளும் மக்களும் முழு மூச்சாக விடுதலைப் போரில் தம்மை இணைத்துக் கொள்வதற்கு இத்துரோகத்தனச் செயற்பாடுகளினால் தொடர்ந்து மேற்கொள்ளப்படக்கூடிய இடைஞ்சல்கள்.

ஐந்து - இந்தத் துரோகத்தனம் அரங்கேறிய கால கட்டம்.

இவையே தமிழ் மக்களின் மனதை இன்று அரிக்கும் விடயங்கள்.

சரியோஇ பிழையோ தமிழீழத்தின் உக்கிரமான விடுதலைப் போர் காலத்தில் தேசியத் தலைவர் பிரபாகரனுக்கு அடுத்த நிலையில் இரண்டாவது தளபதியாகச் செயற்பட்டவர் கருணா. தலைவருக்கு அடுத்த நிலையில் இருந்து செயற்படும் உயர்ஸ்தானத்தைப் பெற்றவரிடமிருந்துதான் தமது பிரதேசத்துக்கு உரிய முன்னிலைமை தரப்படவில்லை என்ற பிரதேசவாதப் பிரிவினைக் குற்றச்சாட்டுக் கிளம்பியிருக்கின்றது. அதுவும் நிலப்பிரதேச ரீதியாகத் தன்னுடைய இருப்பிடத்துடன் நேரடித் தொடர்பு இல்லாத ஒரு தனிக் கட்டுப்பாட்டுப் பிரதேசத்துக்கு தன் னுடைய ஏக பிரதிநிதியாகத் தலைவரிடம் நியமனம் பெற்றுஇ அந்தப் பதவி வழி அதிகாரத்தை நன்கு ஆண்டு அனுபவித்த தளபதி ஒருவரிடமிருந்து இத்தகைய துரோகத்தன நடவடிக்கை யாரும் எதிர்பாராததுதான்.

அது மட்டுமல்லஇ முழுத்தமிழினமும் தங்களுக்குள் உள்ள வேறுபாடுகள் - அரசியல் சித்தாந்தக் கருத்துக் கள் - அணுகுமுறைகள் - அத்தனையையும் களைந்து விட்டுஇ சர்வதேச சமூகத்துக்குத் தனது ஐக்கியத்தையும்இ ஏகோபித்த அபிலாஷையையும்இ ஒட்டுமொத்த விருப்பத் தையும் ஒன்றுபட்டு வெளிப்படுத்தத் தயாராகிக் கொண்டிருக்கும் இந்தச் சமயத்தில் - திட்டமிட்டுஇ நேரம் பார்த்து - அதற்கு வேட்டு வைக்கும் விதத்தில் கிழக்கில் துரோகத்தனம் அரங்கேற்றப்பட்டிருகிறது.

ஈழத்தமிழரின் ஐக்கியத்தையும்இ வலுமிக்க விடுதலைப் போராட்ட அமைப்பான புலிகளின் தலைமையின் கீழ் ஈழத் தமிழர்கள் அணி திரண்டு சர்வதேச சமூகத் துக்கு அந்த ஒற்றுமையைப் பிரகடனப்படுத்துவதையும் விரும்பாத சக்திகள்இ தருணம் பார்த்து மேற்கொண்ட சதி இது. அதற்குக் கருணா இடங்கொடுத்ததன் மூலம் வரலாற்றுத் துரோகத்துக்குத் துணைபோயிருக்கின்றார் என்பதே ஈழத் தமிழினத்தின் வேதனை.

பேரினவாதத்தினால் தமிழினம் அடக்கப்பட்டுஇ அடி மைப்படுத்தப்பட்டுஇ ஒடுக்கப்பட்ட போது அதற்கு எதிராக விடுதலைப் போராட்டம் கிளர்ந்தெழுந்துஇ முகிழ்ந்துஇ பரந்து விரிந்தது.

இந்த அடக்கு முறைக்கு எதிராகக் கிளர்ந்த நமது விடுதலைப் போராட்டத்தை வழி நடத்தும் பொறுப்பை விடுதலைப் புலிகள் அமைப்பு ஏற்றுக்கொண்டது.

புலிகளின் போராட்டம் இனவாதத்துக்கு எதிராகப் பரிணமித்தபோதும் அது பிரதேசவாதம்இ சாதிபேதவாதம்இ ஒடுக்குமுறைஇ சுரண்டல் ஆகியவற்றைச் சமூகத்திலிருந்து அகற்றவும் தவறவில்லை.

பிரதேசவாதப் போக்குகளை நிராகரித்துஇ ஒரு ஐக்கிய குடையின் கீழ் ஈழத் தமிழ் மக்களை ஒன்றிணைத்த புலிகள் அமைப்பு மீது அபாண்டமாகக் குற்றஞ்சுமத்து வதற்குப் பிரதேசவாதத்தைக் கருணா கையில் எடுத்திருப் பது விநோதத்துக்குரியது| விந்தையானது.

ஈழத்தமிழ் மக்களின் நியாயமான விடுதலைப் போராட்டத்தின் அடிப்படைத் தாற் பரியங்களைப் புரிந்துகொண்டு தான் இவ்வளவு காலமும் தலைவர் பிரபாகரனின் வழி காட்டலின்கீழ் தாம் போராட்டத்தில் பங்காற்றினார் என்று கருணா கருதுவாரேயானால் அந்தக் காரணங்களுக்காக - ஈழத்தமிழரின் போராட்ட சக்திகளுக்கு மேலும் நெருக் கடி கொடுத்துஇ குழப்பங்களை ஏற்படுத்திஇ போராட்ட சக்திகளுக்குப் பின்னடைவுகளை உருவாக்காமல் தாமாகவே ஒதுங்கிக் கொண்டிருக்கலாம்.

பின் புலத்தில் நின்று தவறான வழியில் கருணாவைத்து}ண்டிவரும் ஒளிவு மறைவு சக்திகள்இ அப்படிக் கருணா ஒழுங்காக நடக்க அனுமதிக்குமா என்பதே கேள்வி.

அத்தகைய சக்திகளின் ஈழத்தமிழ் விரோதப் போக்குக்குத் தொடர்ந்து கருணா இடங்கொடுத்துத் தமது குழப்பத்தைத் தொடர்வாராயின் நிலைமை மோசமடைவ தைத் தவிர்க்க முடியாததாகி விடும்.

Breakaway Sri Lanka rebel plays down fears of factional war

The leader of a breakaway faction of Sri Lanka's Tamil Tiger rebels has played down fears of armed conflict within the movement and says he will meet Norwegian peace envoys to discuss a new truce.

Eastern regional leader, V Muralitharan, known as Karuna, who has broken away from the Tamil Tiger leadership, says he is keen to avoid fresh bloodshed.

Meanwhile, Sri Lankan government troops, who have remained neutral in the stand-off between the Tiger factions, have been placed on alert amid fears a factional war could erupt in the east of the island.

The split comes as a serious blow to the faltering Norwegian-led peace process aimed at ending three decades of ethnic bloodshed between the Tigers and government forces that have left at least 60,000 dead.

PNM criticises Norway role in LTTE crisis

The Patriotic National Movement (PNM) yesterday questioned the right of the Norwegian peace monitors to hold talks with the Tiger rebels, asking if such action was a result of the ceasefire agreement. The Prime minister and the monitors by their actions have given into the demands of the LTTE. In the circumstances the two parties need to be condemned, said the PNM.

The Movement said the split in the LTTE would have proved to be advantageous to the country, if Premier Ranil Wickremasinghe had not authorised the monitors to hold talks to settle differences among the Tiger cadres.

Instead of trying to turn the division to the advantage of the country the situation has become more advantageous to Tiger leader Prabakharan. In the midst of these developments, the PNM says, Karuna has been replaced as Eastern commander while units of both sides are under arrest by each other.

Signatories of the PNM statement are Ven. Elle Gunawansa thera, Dr.Gunadasa Amarasekera, Environmentalist Piyal Parakrama, Prof.Chandana Abeyratna and Ven.Dambara Amila thera.

Polls Chief considers polling in no-man zones

The Elections department is once more studying whether it is advisable to have polling booths in no man's land in the North-East, an official said yesterday.

The Commissioner it is reported, had earlier decided to have polling booths at entry points to the no man"s areas since landmines are buried there. "We cannot ensure a free and fair election by holding an election in the uncleared areas since the security forces are not allowed to enter those areas," the source said.

He said that the army and some political parties pointed out the possibility of holding the election in no man"s land because some parts of them have been cleared of landmines. "We are now discussing whether to hold the election in such areas," he said.

Responding to a query about what is being done to arrest the trend of the state media being partial during the election campaign, he said that a special discussion was held by the Elections Commissioner last Friday with the General Secretaries of the respective parties.

"At the meeting the Commissioner promised to appoint an official to investigate into the situation and submit a report," he said.

கருணாவின் தொடரும் அடாவடித்தனங்கள்.

கருணாவின் தொடரும் துரோகங்களின் வரிசையில் இன்று மட்டக்களப்பு மக்களும் , அங்கு வாழ்கின்ற பிறமாவட்டத்து மக்களும் பெரும் இன்னலுக்கு உள்ளாகியுள்ளார்கள். குறிப்பாக மட்டக்களப்பில் வாழ்கின்ற யாழ் , வன்னிப்பிரதேச மக்களின் உயிர்களை எடுத்துவிடும் வகையில் அச்சுறுத்தப்பட்டு வருகின்றார்கள். உடனடியாக அவர்கள் யாழ் - வன்னிப்பகுதிக்குப் போய்விடவேண்டுமென்று மிரட்டப்பட்டும் போகத்தவறுவோர் சுடப்படுவார்கள் எனவும் அறிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

மட்டக்களப்பில் பலவருடங்களாக , பலதசாப்தங்களாக கடைகள் , வியாபார நிறுவனங்கள் போன்றவற்றை நடாத்தி வருகின்ற யாழ் - வன்னிமாவட்ட மக்களின் நிறுவனங்களை எரிக்குமாறு கருணா உத்தரவிட்டார். பின்னர் உடனடியாக பிறமாவட்ட மக்களை மட்டக்களப்பைவிட்டு உடனடியாக வெளியேற்றப்பட்டுக் கொண்டு வருகிறார்கள். இந்த மக்களின் பயப்பீதியை தனது ஆதரவாக வெளியுலகுக்குக் காட்டிக்கொண்டு இத்தகைய துரோகத்தனத்தைச் செய்து கொண்டிருக்கிறார் கருணா. இந்த மனிதாபிமானமற்ற செயலை எந்த மனிதமுள்ள மனிதனாலும் மன்னிக்கவோ பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருக்கவோ முடியாது.

கொக்கட்டிச்சோலையைப் பிறப்பிடமாகக் கொண்ட தளபதி ரமேஷ் அவர்களின் வீடுகள் அடித்து உடைத்து நொருக்கப்பட்டும் அவரது உறவினர்கள் தாக்கப்பட்டும் வெளியேற்றப்பட்டுள்ளனர். இத்துடன் புலனாய்வுப்பிரிவுப் போராளிகளின் குடும்பங்களையும் உடனடியாக வெளியேற வேண்டும் என்ற கட்டளையின் பெயரில் அந்தக்குடும்பங்கள் யாவும் வெளியேறிக்கொண்டு உள்ளார்கள்.

புலனாய்வுப்பொறுப்பாளர் பொட்டம்மானின் மனைவி மட்டக்களப்பு வந்தாறு மூலையைச் சேர்ந்தவர். இவரது குடும்பத்தினர் உறவினர்களையும் வந்தாறு மூலையை விட்டு வெளியேறும்படி பணிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

இங்குள்ள மக்கள் அனைவரும் அச்சத்தின் நடுவில்தான் இருக்கிறார்கள். போர்நிறுத்தக் கண்காணிப்புக் குழுவினரிடம் மக்கள் இதுபற்றித் தெரிவிப்பதற்குக்கூட அஞ்சிய நிலையில் இருக்கிறார்கள். கண்காணிப்புக்குழுவிடம் அறிவிப்பதை கருணாகுழு அறிந்தால் தாம் கொல்லப்படலாம் என் அச்சத்தில் மக்கள் வாய்மூடியுள்ளார். இதனைத் தனக்கு ஆதரவாகக்காட்டிக் கொண்டு வெளிநாட்டு , உள்நாட்டு ஊடகங்களுக்கும் செவ்விகள் , கோரிக்கைகள் வெளியிட்டுக்கொண்டிருக்கிறா

Batticaloa Bishop and his team meet LTTE Leaders

Bishop Rt. Rev. Kingsley Swampillai and his team from Batticaloa consisting of the eastern university representatives, NGOs and members of the business community, met with LTTE Political Head Mr. S. P. Thamilchelvan, Batticaloa-Amparai Special Commander Ramesh, Commander Ram, Mr. Karikalan and the Political Head of Batticaloa-Amparai Mr. Kausalyan today 8th March 2004 in Kilinochchi, sources in Vanni said.

Mr. Thamilchelvan and the Batticaloa-Amparai Commanders explained to the visitors the circumstances that led to the leaderships' discharge of Karuna from the organization.

They further said that Karuna in order to cover up his wrongful actions in contravention of the organisation's structure is trying to bring up dissension in the Tamil nation on the basis of an imaginary regionalism.

They assured that their actions to restore normalcy will not in anyway affect the people or the LTTE cadres in the Batticaloa-Amparai Districts.

Bishops delegation after listening to the explanations given by the LTTE leaders stressed the importance of ensuring that the matter is resolved peacefully.

Col.Pathuman dismisses Karuna's speculation

In an interview with the Associated Press (AP), Col.Pathuman, Liberation Tiger's Trincomalee commander, dismissed speculation by renegade former LTTE commander from Batticaloa-Ampara Karuna that the LTTE leadership is holding Pathuman under house arrest in Vanni.

Col.Pathuman was responding to a question relating to the interview yesterday over the BBC Tamil Service in which Karuna made this allegation.

Associated with Mr. Pathuman in this interview were Mr. S.P. Tamilselvan, Mr. Karikalan, Mr. Ramesh, Mr. Ram and Kausalyan. The Leaders from Batticaloa-Amparai and Trincomalee explained in detail the current situation in the context of Karuna's treacherous act and assured that the cadres who are still in Batticaloa-Amparai will be protected by them since they are confident of their commitment to the Leadership and the Tamil cause.

'Under no circumstances will a single individual's act be allowed to create confusion and dissension among the people who are really sincere to the Tamil Leaderships said the Commanders.

Tamil Tiger rebels offer amnesty to renegade rebel commander

Tamil Tiger rebel group offered an amnesty to its expelled renegade commander Monday and stressed he was alone in his battle to break away from the main guerrilla group.

``Our national leader Velupillai Prabhakaran has offered an amnesty to Karuna that will allow him to lead a private life,'' the rebel group's political wing chief, S.P. Thamilselvan, told The Associated Press in an interview.

He said the message had been conveyed to the renegade commander Vinayagamoorthy Muralitharan, also known as Karuna, through a delegation led by a Roman Catholic bishop.

Muralitharan announced last Wednesday that he and 6,000 fighters were breaking away from Prabhakaran's Tamil Tigers. Two days later Prabhakaran announced that he had expelled Muralitharan from the group and his position as its eastern commander.

Muralitharan refused to relinquish power.

Renegade Sri Lanka rebel was aide to Tiger leader

COLOMBO (Reuters) - The renegade rebel whose split from the Tamil Tigers threatens Sri Lanka's peace process was a close aide to the rebels' top leader who has been accused of carrying out some of the worst atrocities in the civil war.

Karuna, who said last week he had split from the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), has transformed himself since the island's ceasefire from a jungle warrior into a peace negotiator who put on a suit to represent the rebels in world capitals.

"Karuna is highly disciplined, a very good military leader," said one official in Colombo who dealt with him often.

"I always found him very polite and he was always smiling. He's broken the sound barrier, he speaks English more when he is on those trips," he said.

There is still confusion surrounding why V Muralitharan -- who is more widely known by his military name, Karuna -- broke with Velupillai Prabhakaran, the reclusive LTTE leader who has had all challengers to his authority murdered in the past.

The smiling Karuna, who took part in several rounds of peace talks with the government and even joined in a friendly snowball fight at one session in Oslo, was the public face of one of the LTTE's top military strategists.

The split further complicates peace efforts already stalled by a row between President Chandrika Kumaratunga and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe that has led to a snap election on April 2.

According to a Sri Lankan government document, Karuna was one of a number of Tiger cadres trained in secret camps in India.

He led seven counter-attacks to take control of the island's main north-south artery, dubbed the "Highway of Death" after 3,500 soldiers from both sides died fighting over it.

Others accuse him of committing war atrocities, saying he was in charge when more than 600 government policemen in LTTE custody in the east were murdered in the early 1990s.

"It is widely believed that it was he who ordered the massacre of more than 600 policemen who surrendered to the LTTE," the Island newspaper said in an editorial on Monday.

The government document said "650 policemen were taken into custody by him".

Only 37, Karuna has reportedly been in charge militarily of the Batticaloa-Ampara districts for 18 years. That is possible considering that many of the top LTTE leaders join the movement in their early teens.

He is one year older than S.P. Thamilselvan, the leader of the LTTE's political wing, who said on Saturday that Karuna had been expelled for "acting traitorously to the Tamil people".

The Tigers have also compared Karuna to Pol Pot, the Cambodian leader who caused the deaths of an estimated 1.7 million people in his country's "Killing Fields".

Many in Colombo predict Karuna, a graduate of Batticaloa's elite high school, St Michael's College, will be assassinated for challenging Prabhakaran.

"Those who know the history of Prabhakaran and the LTTE will say that Karuna has signed his death warrant," the Island said.

Special Team Sent to Assassinate Karuna- Spokesman

Bandula Jayasekara in Colombo, SLT 10.00 P.M Monday 8 March. Spokesman for the rebel Eastern Commander of the LTTE, Karuna Amman said today that LTTE leader Vellupillai Prabhakaran had sent a special team to Trincomalee in preparation to assassinate Karuna.
