இலங்கையின் அரசியல் மற்றும் பாதுகாப்பு நிலைவரப் போக்கைத் தீர்மானிக்கும் திங்களாக இந்த நவம்பர் மாதம் அமையப்போகின்றது.

நாட்டின் நிறைவேற்று அதிகார ஜனாதிபதியாக மஹிந்த ராஜபக்ஷ பதவியேற்று இந்த மாதத்துடன் ஒரு வருடம் பூர்த்தியாகின்றது.

நாட்டின் பாதுகாப்புச் செலவினத்தை இரட்டிப்பாக்கி அவரது அரசு சமர்ப்பிக்கப் போகும் வரவு-செலவுத் திட்டம் நாளை மறுதினம் நாடாளுமன்றில் பகிரங்கப்படுத்தப்பவிருக்கி

அனால் எந்த அழுத்தங்களும் தலைவரின் உரியில் செல்வாக்கு செலுத்த முடியாது என்பது உண்மை

போரென தலைவர் முடிவெடுத்தால் சர்வதேசம் தலையிடமாட்டாது என நினைகிறேன்

The so called meeting of the self appointed "musical chairs" will have little bearing on the Tamils in the future as far as I am concerned. People do expect IC to use it's muscle to delay the inevitable by bullying the Tamil side and creating an enviornment of false expectations. But IC has used all kinds of sticks against the Tamils while feeding tons of carrots to the GOSL. The result of this approach is now obvious and once again the Tamils are at the receiving end.

As Thalivar has always said Tamils have the full right to decide their own destiny. Large sections of the Tamil society did expect the international community (IC) to stand on the side of justice and approach the issues without bias. But in this case history is our friend. As expected IC made grave errors (mostly intentionally, some unintentionally) of judgement in it's approach towards both parties to the conflict. IC has to take it's fair share of the blame in dismantling of the peace process. Sending out press releases full of regrets, mega phone diplomacy and "helicopter" diplomacy cannot deliver real outcomes.

Coming to Thalivar's speech of 2005:

Although Thalivar did give some thing of a deadline to Mahinda, it was also strategically targeted at the IC. Which is why despite Mahinda not delivering anything the Tamil leadership has continued to support the CFA/MOU for the past 1 year. Since that speech the Tamil leadership has bent over backwards to accommodate whatever reasonable requests put forward by the IC (even though the Tamil people have lost faith in the so called "peace process"). Tamil leadership's strategy and patience has pushed the IC into a corner right now. They will have to stay there for a long time unless there is a dramatic change in their approach towards the honouring party (the Tamil side). Their approach will certainly change once the Tamils exercise their right of existence via the options remaining.

சமாதானத்துக்குள்ளேயும் அழுகுரல்களைக் கேட்கும்- போருக்குள்ளே வாழும் எங்களுக்கு சர்வதேச சமூகமோ அதனது அறிக்கைகளோ சிறிலங்கா அரசாங்கத்தின் நீலிக்கண்ணீரோ தீர்வைத் தராது- எமது இறுதி இலட்சியம்தான் தீர்வைத் தரும் என்று திருகோணமலை மாவட்ட அரசியல்துறைப் பொறுப்பாளர் சி.எழிலன் தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.

ஒரு விமானம் குண்டு போடுகின்ற போது அல்லது செல் தாக்குதல் நடத்தப்படுகின்ற போது அங்கே சிதைந்து போயிருக்கின்ற உடலங்களைப் பார்க்கின்ற எங்களுக்குத்தான் அதனது வேதனை தெரியும்.

அந்த வேதனையானது வெளியிலிருந்து பேசுபவர்களுக்குத் தெரியாது.

போரைப் பற்றி யாரும் பேசலாம். ஆனால் போருக்குள்ளே வாழ்கின்ற எங்களுக்குத்தான் அதனது வேதனையும் துன்பமும் துயரமும் தெரியும். ஆகையால் இந்த நிலை நிச்சயமாக மாற்றப்பட வேண்டியது

தீர்வை நாம்தான் உருவாக்க வேண்டும். அதற்கு ஒரே வழி..எங்களுடைய தலைவரின் வழிநடத்தலில் எங்களுடைய இறுதி இலட்சியத்தை நோக்கி நாங்கள் நகர்வதைத் தவிரவேறு வழியில்லை. எமது இறுதி இலட்சியம் தான் எமக்குத் தீர்வைத் தருமே தவிர சர்வதேசமோ அதன் அறிக்கைகளோ அரசினுடைய நீலிக்கண்ணீரோ தீர்வாகாது என்றார் எழிலன்.

வரலாற்றிலேயே முதற்தடவையாக இலங்கையின் இரு பெரும் கட்சிகளும் ஒன்றாக இணைந்துள்ளன. அவர்களிற்கு நாங்கள் ஒரு வாய்ப்பை நிச்சயம் வழங்கவேண்டும். அது மட்டும் இன்றி சர்வதேசத்தின் கோபப் பார்வை என்று மில்லாதவாறு சிறிலங்கா அரசுக்கெதிராக திரும்பியுள்ளது. இவையனைத்திற்குமாக நாம் இம்முறையும் மிகவும் சிறிய கால அவகாசத்தை வழங்கவுள்ளோம் என்று கூறி பெரிய குண்டாக போடுவாரோ தெரியாது?
